Chapter 604: Chapter 604: The Farming Duo_1

"There is no reason. I am just plain lazy and don’t want to do it," old man Yang replied very capriciously.

"Mr. Yang, I am sincerely asking you. If you have any conditions, please just say them and give me a chance," Huo Chengyi said earnestly.

"Sincerely? How sincere?" old man Yang pointed towards Lin Yushan, saying, "Look, the Lu Family’s young master’s aunt, to thank me for treating her family’s little nephew, is personally doing hard labor for me. Can you, President Huo, do that?"

Old man Yang was deliberately making it difficult for Huo Chengyi.

He wasn’t about to tell Huo Chengyi that his rule was that Little Susu had to ask.

He knew that once he said it, they would definitely go and bother his Little Susu.

No way!

Little Susu was already busy enough every day, she couldn’t be bothered by them!

Huo Chengyi looked up at Lin Yushan.

Under the sunlight, her panting as she carried the water bucket reminded him of a scene from his childhood.

Back then, she was about the same age as Susu is now, though much more timid than Susu.

Huo Chengyi turned his gaze back and asked old man Yang, "It’s just carrying water and fertilizing?"

"Just? You think this is easy?" old man Yang snorted, "Although you’re tall and sturdy, I guess you’ve never done any physical labor, have you?"

"You don’t know until you try."

"Alright then, go change into a clean pair of shoes, so you don’t contaminate my herbal field with bacteria and germs from outside," old man Yang instructed.

"Okay," Huo Chengyi agreed without hesitation.

Then he really did change into a different outfit before coming back to the herbal field.

Seeing Huo Chengyi coming to help too, Lin Yushan asked in surprise, "Mr. Huo... you... why are you also..."

Huo Chengyi, a person of great renown, seemed wholly out of place with farming.

Had Lin Yushan not seen it with her own eyes, she would never have believed that Huo Chengyi would actually do field work.

"It’s old Mr. Yang’s request; I dare not refuse," Huo Chengyi replied with a smile, half-joking.

Then he took the watering tool from Lin Yushan’s hands and started working.

Watching Huo Chengyi water the plants attentively, Lin Yushan was somewhat in a daze.

She never imagined such a talented and powerful person would be willing to do this kind of work.

If it were Chu Heng, he would definitely say that his hands were not meant for such work.

Not sure if it was because she saw Huo Chengyi distracted, Lin Yushan stepped on a stone and then fell backward.

In a critical moment, Huo Chengyi reached out to grab Lin Yushan’s hand and pulled her back.

In a trance, Lin Yushan seemed to see the figure of a little boy reaching out his hand to her...

Vague memories overlapped with the scene before her eyes.

"What’s wrong?"

Noticing Lin Yushan staring at him, Huo Chengyi asked.

"No, nothing." Lin Yushan quickly shook her head, dispelling the messy fragments of memory in her mind and continued to focus on her work.

The two cooperated in their work; one swung the hoe to turn the soil while the other fertilized the freshly turned earth.

Perhaps it was too quiet around them, or maybe the work was just too boring, but Huo Chengyi started a conversation with Lin Yushan, "Miss Lin, you once damaged my watch. Do you plan to compensate me for it now?"

"What? I... I damaged your watch? Could Mr. Huo be mistaken?" Lin Yushan looked at Huo Chengyi with a surprised face, her eyes filled with confusion.
