Chapter 181: Chapter 11: Visitor

History, it’s like a lingering melody. Historians always like to try and summarize patterns from it; they even once thought they could hum along. However, as they hummed, they were always off-key. After all, it’s always cyclical, yet never repeats.

Sometimes you think the climax is coming, but it inexplicably goes silent. Sometimes you think it’s a dull transitional Chapter, but it inexplicably climaxes again and again. Sometimes there’s a 180-degree turn, sometimes even a 360-degree turn, and you’re surprised to find it returns to its original place, yet you can’t predict where it will go next.

The history of the Keltos Continent is even more inexplicably mind-boggling. Tens of thousands of years of Holy Sect rule, plus tens of thousands of years of what humans call the "Dark Prehistoric Era," you’d think all the weird and bizarre things had already happened. Yet, even weirder and more bizarre things happened.

After all, each day is a brand-new day, and history is always stubbornly moving forward, never looking back.

Thus, this gives many novelists plenty of opportunities to add unnecessary words, like I’m doing right now. After all, when you curse me for talking nonsense, reality is always more magical than fiction.

In July of Holy Calendar 10757, four years and one month after arriving at the surface world, the Lich named Gray incredibly became the true master of the Human Church, controlling Church Court Mountain through force. Both Heaven and Hell remained silent about this because Gray had followed the rules set by both sides completely when accomplishing this feat.

Many years later, when historians reviewed this period in which Gray Gruggle’s identity as a Lich was already beyond clear to humans, their feelings were akin to reading a humorous novel. Of course, besides the core personnel in the Church, there are very few who genuinely think this way now. Of course, very few doesn’t mean none.

...

Outside the Lion King City, a sprawling estate with lush trees, flowers, birds, lifelike garden sculptures, and a fountain.

The once down-and-out writer Morca was lying on a chaise longue in luxurious clothes, enjoying life, eating pastries, and drinking wine imported from the Eden Duchy. Pao Pao, a little boy, sat right beside him.

Because he sold several cartloads of "Lich Knight" to some mysterious robed men, he got a big sack of Gold Coins, more than he could imagine. But that wasn’t all. Back then, the Lion King City’s economy was just beginning to recover, and assets were very cheap. Mr. Author bought properties at low prices. Thus, he leaped from a homeless pauper to one of the wealthiest men in Lion King City, reaching the pinnacle of his life.

The gray-haired butler came to his side respectfully and said, "Sir, there’s a reader outside who wants to see you."

"Let him in," Morca turned his face and said with a grin to Pao Pao beside him, "I think my life has lost its drive. Every day is just enjoyment, enjoyment, and more enjoyment. If not, it’s listening to readers praise me. Let’s hear what new way this visiting reader has come to praise me."

Pao Pao sat next to him, holding a cup of juice, blinking at him.

Soon, under the butler’s lead, a chubby man with a little mustache came before him, twice as large as Morca.

"Sir, the person has arrived."

"Hello," Morca greeted warmly, "Please sit down. I hear you are my reader."

The fat man sat down in the chair, extending a hand, "You’re the author, right?"

"Yes, that’s me," Morca extended a hand to shake his, "May I ask why you’ve come to see me?"

"Your book is just amazing."

"Oh, really? A lot of people say that; I’ve gotten used to it."

"So, I’m here to ask when you’re writing the sequel."

"Ah... se-sequel?" Morca was stunned for a moment, "Which book are you reading?"

"This one." The fat man took a wrinkled copy of "Lich Knight" from his pocket and handed it over.

Morca flipped through it and sniffed it with his nose, "It seems like you’re reading a pirated version."

"Yes."

"Then you should ask the pirated publisher when they are releasing the sequel; a righteous author won’t be responsible for pirated readers."

"I asked, but that pirate publisher already went out of business."

"Huh, well, that’s good news." Morca was over the moon, "Why did the pirated publisher go out of business? Was it divine retribution for doing too many bad deeds?"

"No," the fat man replied, "It’s because they printed too many of your books, couldn’t sell them, and then went bankrupt."

"Um... I put a pirated publisher out of business?"

"It appears so..."

The atmosphere instantly grew awkward.

*Forcing a smile, Morca said,* "In any case, I won’t be responsible for pirated readers. Please leave."

"Then I’ll buy a legitimate copy." The fat man took out two Gold Coins and placed them on the table, "If I get a legitimate copy, will you then be responsible for me?"

"No, it’s too late. ’Lich Knight’ is already sold out. You won’t be able to find it."

Pao Pao whispered from the side, "Didn’t you print another two thousand copies and store them in the basement, not selling any?"

"Those are not for sale! They are my collectibles! I won’t sell them! Butler, help me get this pirated reader out!"

"No! You can’t do this! You can’t do this—!"

...

A moment later, the reader was finally driven away. Morca sat expressionlessly in the courtyard.

"*You just don’t want to write a sequel, right?*" Pao Pao asked softly.
