The Lich of Glory Knight Spirit: Moving towards Krimasha!
Chapter 174 - 07: A Turbulent Night_2

Chapter 174: Chapter 07: A Turbulent Night_2

A Silver Moon Knight rode his horse to Anthony III’s balcony and saluted Anthony III and the other three bishops on the balcony.

"Lord Bishops! Please stay here for a while and do not go out. We will handle the situation soon!"

"All right, you all work hard." Anthony III smiled and waved at the Silver Moon Knight, then turned his face and sighed, mumbling to himself, "Everyone thinks the Holy Father is shielding Gray, favoring Gray. Actually, I believe the Holy Father is protecting us. Are we considered just? Of course, but it’s justice immersed in the secular world. This Holy Knight, he is a true fanatic, a genuine swordsman. If it comes to conspiracies, he can’t outplay us old folks. But if he draws his sword... we are all just meat to him. His justice is sincere."

As he spoke, Anthony III looked at the departing figure of the Silver Moon Knight and laughed, "I never knew a Lich’s personality could be like this, so serious... humans can take everything as a joke, but a Lich takes it seriously."

...

Gray rode his horse up the stone steps toward the mountaintop.

"Gray! What do you intend to do?"

Four Holy Knights, accompanied by a large number of Temple Knights, blocked Gray’s path.

Levi drew his longsword and rode forward, locking eyes with Gray. His complexion twitched incessantly as he glanced around.

The clouds drifted gently in the sky, the silver moon traversing through.

It was quiet all around, with only the distant sounds of commotion.

Julian floated behind him, yet did not reveal his form.

"The Holy Spirit... doesn’t the Holy Spirit take any action? Is the Holy Spirit going to tolerate Gray using force to control the church?"

"I haven’t received new orders for now. In fact, I have repeatedly emphasized to you that the Holy Spirit might not intervene just because Gray uses force."

"Are you kidding? The Holy Spirit will tolerate a Lich controlling the church?" Levi roared.

The soldiers present looked stunned.

"A Lich? What is Lord Levi talking about? Holy Knight Gray is a Lich?"

Before they could snap out of it, Gray raised his hand, and instantly, Levi’s sword was knocked out of his hand. Both he and his horse were thrown backward heavily, shattering the steps behind them, with dust rolling up.

The horse struggled to its feet and escaped. Levi was pinned to the ground by an unseen force, his face already covered in blood.

The remaining three Holy Knights watched in terror.

Gray rode forward step by step.

The three Holy Knights still on their horses tried to retreat, only to find both them and their horses bound by some force, unable to move. The Temple Knights they brought with them retreated one by one, leaving only the three facing Gray.

As Gray crossed by them, Tenidas stopped and said softly, "Lay down your weapons, and I will consider you surrendered. Otherwise..."

Gray didn’t continue, but the other three Holy Knights obediently discarded their weapons.

"Very well." Gray nodded, "Come with me."

Saying this, he continued to ride forward.

"You are a Lich! An evil Lich! How dare you challenge the Holy Spirit! You..."

Levi couldn’t continue, as Gray had dismounted and gripped his throat. Levi struggled desperately, but it was futile against Gray.

Dragging the bloodied Levi, Gray walked step by step towards the mountaintop hall, followed obediently by the other three Holy Knights and a group of Temple Knights.

...

"Hahaha! Look what I found here?"

"Stop! Stop—! What you’re doing is against the doctrine!"

A dwarf opened a large chest and pulled out a cardinal.

...

"Help! Quick!"

An orange signal flare trailed thick smoke into the night sky.

In the distant camp of the Saint Lorenza Gustav Empire Army, soldiers stood by the bonfire, frowning at it.

"What’s going on? Fireworks?"

"It seems to be a distress signal."

"The church sending a distress signal? Are you joking? Who would attack the church? They can pray to the Holy Spirit."

"That’s true. Maybe it’s a mistake. Let’s ask tomorrow. It’s pretty late now."

...

Just back from Gray, Cardinal Darren IV stood in front of his house, stunned by the quickly spreading chaos across Azlan Mountain.

One by one, the Temple Knights were struck down by the Silver Moon Knights, trampled underfoot.

Jones rode up to him and saluted, saying, "Lord Bishop, please come with me. Lord Holy Knight wants to see you."

"What does he want?"

"I’ve heard you made a suggestion to him. Perhaps... he wants to give you an answer." Jones smiled.

...

Excluding the two deceased, there were still thirty-four cardinals, including the four newly appointed in the past two years.

Soon, except for the four who supported Gray, the rest were taken by the Silver Moon Knight Order to the mountaintop hall, or more accurately, all of them were brought to the hall and seated in their respective seats.

One was still in pajamas, another even dressed as a woman to escape. They all looked bedraggled.

The Silver Moon Knight Order soon sealed off the entire hall, allowing no one to approach.

Ordinary clergy stood at the periphery, watching with wide eyes. The Holy Temple Knights, who were supposed to defend the church, could only watch with wide eyes.

A building caught fire, and the flames were spreading. A group of clergy was struggling to fight the fire, but the Silver Moon Knight Order stood at their posts as if they hadn’t seen it.

...

Gray clutched Levi’s throat, dragging him forward step by step. Levi had given up struggling, looking powerlessly at the drifting clouds in the sky, letting Gray drag him. The blood from his wounds left a long trail on the steps.

...

Finally, Gray’s figure appeared outside the gate.

The breeze blew gently.

The silver moon shone behind him, illuminating his gray armor.

All was quiet, everyone held their breath, an oppressive, eerie atmosphere settling.

The cardinals shrank their necks, cautiously watching him.

Under everyone’s gaze, he dragged Levi into the hall, walking down the central aisle until he stopped before the cross.

Releasing Levi’s throat, Gray knelt on one knee, crossed himself solemnly on his chest, but instead of a prayer, he simply said one sentence.

"Holy Spirit, my Lord, it was you who taught me. Strength can determine everything."

The silvery moonlight streamed through the dome, illuminating the nineteen statues’ faces. The hollow eyes seemed to be watching him.

Gray leaned on his sword and slowly stood up, turning to face the cardinals sitting around the hall.

Carl walked in, slammed his chest plate heavily, knelt on one knee before Gray, and said, "All four Holy Knights are here; thirty-two of the thirty-four cardinals are present. Two are missing, suspected to have fled. However, per church regulations, with the Holy Father’s passing, this number is enough to pass any decree!"

"Good, I understand." Gray waved his hand slightly.

Carl stood up, bowed, and stepped back, leaving the hall.

Quiet. Everything was quiet. The thirty-two cardinals present were all silent.

Time ticked away, and Gray looked around at the cardinals present.

After a while, Levi, lying on the ground, coughed twice and spat out blood, breathing heavily, looking weakly at Gray.

"Why... why doesn’t the Holy Spirit stop you?" Levi spoke intermittently.

Gray did not answer, but addressed the cardinals loudly, "I, Holy Knight Gray, a saint personally appointed by Holy Father Augustus III, have the authority to oversee the church. Now, I believe the church has severely deviated from the sacred doctrine and the expectations of the Holy Spirit. So, let us have a good talk."
