The Lich of Glory Knight Spirit: Moving towards Krimasha! -
Chapter 170 - 05: Funeral (2)_2
Chapter 170: Chapter 05: Funeral (2)_2
"Impossible! Someone must have taught you, I’ve never mentioned the matters of the Holy See to you! Speak! Who was it?" Shelley was visibly angry.
Little Richie fidgeted for a while before softly saying, "It was those two bird-men, I heard them."
Catherine and Abod were stunned.
"Bird-men?"
"The ones with halos over their heads."
"Those are Angels!" Shelley corrected.
"It was them!" Little Richie clapped his hands in delight, but seeing Shelley’s displeased expression, he quickly lowered his head.
"Angels wouldn’t say something like that."
"But they said the Pope had died and the people of the Cardinal Court would bully Dad. They bullied you before too. People like that should be killed."
"What else did they say?"
"They said a lot of things. They chat every day, it’s annoying."
Catherine and Abod simultaneously covered their mouths, exchanging glances.
"You can’t think like that, you know?" Shelley gently patted Richie’s head, saying, "Your father is a Holy Knight, he’ll handle things his own way. You’re his child, so you should be righteous too. You can’t think about things like this."
"But being righteous is so painful, it means having to endure grievances." Richie blinked his big, watery eyes as he spoke.
"That’s what makes it so precious, you know? Dad wouldn’t like you thinking this way, and neither would Mom."
Richie furrowed his brows, looking helpless, but eventually nodded, "I understand, Mom."
Shelley reached out and hugged Richie, whispering, "Dad is very busy, he has endless tasks. Mom’s biggest worry is that you’ll grow up the wrong way. The child of a Holy Knight should also be upright and kind, not evil. You should have more goodwill towards the world."
"Okay." Richie nodded heavily.
Abod took a deep breath, flapping his wings as he slowly retreated. Catherine also followed suit.
They retreated to a distance far enough that Richie could definitely not overhear them, and Abod softly said, "We have to be more careful with our words, that kid is terrifying."
Catherine nodded, looking towards the castle, "It’s a good thing he has a mother like Shelley. Otherwise, he would be the world’s nightmare."
"Are you sure?" Abod looked at Catherine, "Shelley is human, she’ll inevitably leave one day. Do you think Gray will have the same influence on him? Gray rarely sees him. The way things are going, his power will soon surpass Gray without the Demon Lord’s help, maybe he already has. No one knows what he will become. What then?"
"Is it because of the Demon Lord’s intervention that he has such strong magical talent?" Catherine sighed, "Maybe we should apply to have him consecrated as a Holy Knight as soon as possible."
"Consecrate him as a Holy Knight? He’s just a kid."
"Send an Angel to accompany him, build a good relationship with him."
"That’s a good idea." Abod nodded.
At this moment, they did not know that in the castle, Richie was being held by Shelley and was occasionally glancing in their direction.
...
Anthony III had given Gray many suggestions, including the Black Cat’s suggestion to control the Holy See by force.
However, Gray did not choose any of them.
The next day, he still went to the Holy See to perform his duties, quietly coming and going as if it were just an ordinary funeral. His demeanor left the opposing cardinals perplexed.
"What is he trying to do? Could we be wrong and Anthony and the others aren’t backing him, informing him of the situation?"
"Could he be planning to use force right after the funeral?"
"That’s impossible. The Holy Spirit wouldn’t allow anyone to control the Holy See by force. Even if his power is strong, could it compare to the Holy Spirit?"
Despite their words, on the day of the funeral, the Holy Temple Knights were fully prepared, and so were the four Holy Knights.
Julian said, "All these precautions are pointless, they’re unnecessary."
"So what? We should do nothing at all?" Levi said coldly, "You won’t tell us the source of his power, yet you want to stop us from opposing him? We’re just doing the most basic thing, preventing the Holy See from being taken over by a Lich."
Ironically, on that day, most of the cardinals had Silver Moon Knight Order flags in their pockets.
Some people in this world are like this: they provoke those stronger than them but are afraid of dying. Sometimes, such people are in the majority. They should be grateful they faced Gray, not his growing son Richie. Otherwise, the result would be predictable.
Of course, nothing happened.
The Holy See solemnly and respectfully saw off Augustus III. The cardinals returned safe and sound, none missing any parts.
Even Anthony III was on the verge of despair, "If you do nothing, you’ll face a nightmare result."
"There’s no way to seal it off, is there?" Gray answered softly, "Even if I become the Pope, they will still reveal it. Even if I control the entire Holy See, they’ll find a way to get the word out. Some will believe, some will talk about it. How should I treat those innocent people then?"
Gray refused to take any action, not even to run for election. However, things took an unexpected turn.
Without Gray acting as the ’big villain,’ the Cardinal Court turned against each other. They quarreled over the papal candidates, forcing the vote to be postponed for three days. The two candidates started campaigning furiously.
Meanwhile, new information came in. The Holy Spirit did not accept Catherine’s proposal to consecrate Richie as a Holy Knight, but still assigned a Guardian Angel to him. Almost at the same time, Richie’s guide demon arrived.
...
In a small room at Salted Fish Port Castle, Richie faced both an angel and a demon without a hint of fear.
"Hello, my name is Delia. From today on, I’ll be your Guardian Angel. I’m just an apprentice angel, but the Holy Spirit thinks that if we grow together, our relationship might be better." The one speaking was a cute little angel with two white wings, a halo, golden hair that reached her waist, barefoot, wearing a white dress, and looking a bit shy.
"Nice to meet you, I’m Richie, the Lich’s son." As he spoke, Richie looked to the other side.
There stood a young Succubus with long red hair and red eyes, wearing a red dress. Unlike Delia, she looked very confident.
"Hello, I’m Sarina. The Demon Lord assigned me to guide you."
"So what can you both do for me?" Richie asked with wide eyes.
This question confounded both the angel and the demon.
"I can guide you to do good things..." Delia said softly.
"And you?" Richie looked at Sarina, "Guide demon, guide me towards evil?"
"Uh... I haven’t been given any tasks to guide you towards evil yet."
"So? What’s your task? Surely you have one, right? You can’t just be here on vacation, can you?"
Sarina began to feel her scalp tingle. Before coming here, she was told Richie was only a few months old, even though he looked five or six. But did this conversation sound like he was five or six?
She couldn’t possibly tell Richie she was sent by the Demon Lord to spy on him, could she?
Just when Sarina was hesitating on how to respond, Richie spread his hands and said, "Since you can’t state your task, I’ll assign you one. From today on, you two will teach me magic. But you can’t let my mom know."
