Chapter 153: Chapter 34: Return_2

"Come over here!"

"I won’t go! You come here!"

"Come over here!"

"I just won’t! If you’ve got the guts, come here yourselves! You only know how to ask me for food, why don’t you go ask Holy Knight Gray! It was him who started this ridiculous reform!"

"You’re the one who continued the reform! Now that you’re the King, you have to take responsibility!"

"I refuse to be responsible, so what! I’m just the King and won’t take responsibility, so what! Come over here if you’ve got the guts!"

"You bastard!"

"You useless fools!"

"Come over here!"

"You come here!"

The two sides were locked in a standoff, trading endless curses. Until Benedict II saw the Queen being brought to him, held at knifepoint.

Benedict II stared blankly at the Queen, and the Queen stared blankly back at him.

The leader of the mob extended a hand toward Benedict II and roared, "Come here, or we’ll kill her!"

"Why... why are you here? Didn’t you go back to your family?" Benedict II stared at the Queen and asked.

"I... I was afraid you didn’t have food, so I brought you some..." the Queen whispered in reply.

"Why are you so stupid? Why do you care about me!" Hugging the spire tightly, Benedict II wailed in despair.

"I was afraid you’d go hungry..." Tears streamed down the Queen’s face as she answered.

"I told you I don’t believe in love anymore! Why do you care about me!"

"But I believe in it."

"You foolish woman, stupid woman! You’ll end up losing your life—!"

"Come here—! Or we’ll kill her!" The mob leader continued his vicious roar.

"Come here! Come here! Come here!" A circle of mob members standing on the dome also joined in shouting.

Gritting his teeth, Benedict II reluctantly let go of the spire and slowly moved along the dome toward the edge.

Just as the mob leader roughly grabbed Benedict II, Benedict II suddenly lashed out, broke free of him, and lunged toward the Queen. Hugging the Queen tightly, he began sliding downward.

"Ah—!" the Queen screamed.

The tower of the Lion King Palace, below the spire was a dome, under the dome was a massive conical structure. Hugging the Queen tightly, Benedict II slid down the slope, with mobs on the way scattering to avoid him.

"Get after them—!" Screams erupted behind him.

Soon, Benedict II and the Queen collided with the greenery at the base of the cone. Their feet suddenly lost support, and they fell vertically along the wall, buffered occasionally by branches jutting out from corridors. Finally, they landed heavily in the courtyard of the Lion King Palace.

Four stories high. Even so, Benedict II managed to sway and stagger to his feet. Despite injuries all over his body, he somehow stood up.

"That’s why I always say we need to plant more trees." He ran two steps away, then came back.

"I twisted my ankle. You need to go..." The Queen blinked and said.

"It’s fine; I’m here. They won’t catch up to me." Benedict II took a deep breath, hoisted the Queen onto his back, and started running frantically. The Queen quietly lay on his back, holding onto his neck tightly, choking back sobs.

After being married for years, perhaps only at this moment did they truly resemble a married couple.

Countless people were chasing them. Yet, this was the highlight of Benedict II’s life—this was his moment of glory. Carrying the Queen on his back, barefoot, he sprinted out of the Lion King Palace, heading south along the long streets. A large group of people cursed and shouted to kill him, yet not one could catch up to him.

"If I’m no longer King, will you still stay with me?"

"I’ve never said you must be King..."

"What if I end up so poor I have to beg?"

"Then I’ll beg alongside you."

"Alright... then we’ll do that—we’ll find a place where nobody knows us and live together." Benedict II grit his teeth and ran wildly. At this moment, every obstacle in front of him ceased to be an obstruction.

Encountering roadblocks, he leapt over them directly; stepping on nails, he seemed unfazed. His eyes kept staring ahead, fixed solely on the long street ahead.

Finally, carrying the Queen, Benedict II dashed out of Lion King City. And then he froze. The mob following him also froze.

Under the silver moonlight, they saw the Silver Moon Knight Order, standing neatly in formation before them.

Gray sat on his horse at the forefront. Behind him were Carl, Yilin, and Bob.

The wind blew gently, and the entire world fell silent.

Between the Silver Moon Knight Order and the mob wielding various weapons, Benedict II stood in the middle, motionless.

In truth, it wasn’t just the mob and Benedict II; even the knights of the Silver Moon Knight Order were stunned.

Bob dismounted and slowly widened his eyes: "Brother... is it really you?"

Benedict II gasped heavily, gently setting the Queen down, then slowly walked toward Bob.

Carl immediately drew his sword and aimed it at Benedict II.

"I’m unarmed." Benedict II spread his hands and continued limping forward until he stood before Bob. He crouched slightly, removed the crown from his head, and placed it on Bob’s.

"I can’t hold on any longer. The Sharp Family needs an heir, and only you can take over. Be a good King. A King is not just about power; it is also about responsibility. I hope you remember that." Smiling faintly, Benedict II glanced at Gray nearby and said, "I have nothing left. You can do whatever you want with me. I admit to all the charges you’ve raised—I truly am a bad person. But I hope you can help clean up the Sharp Family mess. And please don’t trouble my Queen—all of this is solely my fault. She didn’t know anything."

Turning to look at the Queen one last time, Benedict II said.

The Queen covered her mouth, tears pouring uncontrollably, silently watching Benedict II’s back.

Gray sat on his horse, quietly observing Benedict II.

"Holy Knight!" Bob loudly declared, "As your loyal retainer, I implore you to pardon my elder brother! He already knows his mistakes! Also!"

Turning his head, Bob removed the crown from atop his head and stood on tiptoe to place it back on Benedict II: "I’m too young to be King. Just as you said, brother, being a King is about responsibility."

"No, you can be King. I’m simply too terrible, unfit to be King."

"No, I really can’t. I’m still too young."

"No, it has to be you. I don’t even have the courage to face difficulties."

"No, brother, you can do it!"

The crown was pushed back and forth between them, leaving the distant mob stunned.

"So, who’s the King now? Who are we supposed to ask for food?"

"No idea. Are they going to just throw the crown away soon?"

"Even if they throw away the crown, we’ll still ask them for food!"

Gray reached out and seized the crown. He spoke softly: "I’ll keep this crown for now. You two brothers will govern this kingdom together, fulfilling the duties of the King but without enjoying its privileges. Until one day, I deem one of you truly worthy of this crown. Is that acceptable?"

"Alright, that’s one way to handle it." Benedict II shrugged helplessly.

"I defer entirely to Sir Holy Knight’s decision!" Bob solemnly bowed to Gray.

"Then it’s settled." Gripping the crown, Gray rode his horse slowly toward the mob and shouted loudly, "I have returned—! The Silver Moon Knight Order has returned! The decline of Lion King City began with me, and now I hope to end it with me! The food you desire will soon arrive. No, it will arrive immediately! Shortly, I will begin distributing food! Everyone will have enough to eat and return to normal life! So, now, please lay down your weapons."

The wind blew softly, silence.

After a brief silence, a deafening cheer erupted from the mob, and weapons clattered to the ground.

"Holy Knight! Holy Knight! Holy Knight! Holy Knight!" Everyone shouted fervently.

Midnight in Lion King City ignited a celebration, one akin to the one from months prior. Except, that was the beginning of a nightmare, whereas this was the end of one.
