The Lich of Glory Knight Spirit: Moving towards Krimasha! -
Chapter 146 - 30: The Grey Holy Knight (3)
Chapter 146: Chapter 30: The Grey Holy Knight (3)
"Vivian, can you heal humans?"
"Humans are neutral leaning towards light, not completely aligned with light attributes. My dark magic works on them just the same."
"Go capture the other three Holy Knights, heal them, and ensure they don’t die. I want to keep them."
"Alright."
Vivian carried the Silver Moon Banner and swaggered back.
With Gray announcing the pardon for everyone except the four Holy Knights, the scene of soldiers fleeing Buck Town vanished.
"Honorable Holy Knight, I am Nubak, the commander of Lusien V’s infantry regiment. We have long harbored resentment towards the treacherous Lusien V. For our past deeds and the injustices committed under his orders, we deeply repent. Now, we have decided to turn our grievances into action! We are willing to serve you!"
*Gray quietly looked at the infantry commander prostrate at his feet, softly replying,* "I don’t believe you truly regret it, you’re just afraid of my power. But I am willing to give you a chance to redeem yourself. Do what you must, appease the townspeople. No chaos or disturbance is allowed; violators will be dealt with according to the highest standards of local law."
"Yes!" Nubak broke out in a cold sweat.
Quickly, Buck Town came under Gray’s control. *It proved that for humans, the ’summoning’ of power is far more effective than the summoning of justice.*
Gently pushing open the door, Gray, accompanied by Shelley, stepped into the dim, damp dungeon.
The dwarves inside the jail gawked at the sight of Gray.
"Gray armor? Who is this?"
The dwarves peered inquisitively.
Catherine slowly opened her eyes wide.
Gray walked to the door, gripped the chain on the bars, and tugged; the chain snapped instantly. Opening the door, Gray said softly," It’s over, come out now."
"It’s the Holy Knight! He changed his armor to rescue us!"
"Hahaha! I knew this guy would come to save us!"
"We’re saved! Saved!"
"How did he defeat those four Holy Knights?"
The dwarves cheered and poured out of the jail, tears streaming down their faces. During their frenzied escape, one dwarf stumbled due to his short legs. The others piled on top of him like a small mountain before Gray, but the laughter grew louder.
Andrew started groaning.
Turning around, Gray walked to the tightly bound Andrew, reaching out to remove the cloth stuffed in his mouth.
"What’s going on? The dark force around you is so intense..." Andrew gazed weakly at Gray.
"Nothing, I’ll explain when I get the chance."
The shackles binding Andrew clicked and clacked, unlocking one by one automatically. Suddenly deprived of support, Andrew collapsed to the ground.
Gray placed one hand on Andrew’s forehead.
Rapid streams of magic power surged into Andrew’s body. Andrew began to tremble wildly, his wounds healing visibly, and his severed limbs regenerating like a lizard’s tail at a visible pace.
Quickly, his limbs were fully regrown, and Andrew looked down in amazement.
"You’re incredible. My skin even seems better! My heavens!"
Turning around, Gray approached Catherine and gently touched her. Instantly, the array covering Catherine shattered like glass and vanished.
Jones and Dora rushed in from outside, just in time to see Gray placing his hand on Catherine’s forehead. Streams of power converged. Quickly, Catherine’s wounds vanished, and new feathers grew on her wings.
Jones was so astonished that his jaw dropped. *He had heard of Guardian Angels healing Holy Knights, but a Holy Knight healing an Angel was unprecedented.*
Standing aside, *Shelley stared dumbfounded at these unbelievable events.*
Finally, *Gray’s palm ignited with gray flames as he chanted a spell.* In another cell, **Silver Moon Knights and Bone Horses** crowded together like goods, struggled to stand. Not just them, even several deceased dwarves mixed in the group rose as Dwarf Skeleton Soldiers.
Thankfully, that was in another cell, or Shelley would have been scared out of her wits.
Club sneaked a glance at Shelley, his buck teeth and crossed eyes swiveled immediately as he began pushing Shelley out of the dungeon.
"Miss Shelley, you must be tired. Why don’t you rest?"
"I’m not tired!"
"No, you are!"
Finally, *once Shelley was pushed out and the door was shut, Club squeezed next to Gray, motioning for him to lower his head.*
Gray slightly bent down.
The surrounding dwarves perked up their ears.
Club whispered," Are you really a Lich?"
Gray gazed at Club without a direct response.
"We all know. But rest assured, we haven’t told anyone and will never tell Miss Shelley. Plus, dwarves are dark-aligned beings; a Lich could even be a Holy Knight, hahaha. Sounds like our faith in the divine just got more reliable."
Gray gently nodded.
All at once, the dwarves cheered.
*"Is this so worth celebrating? What is going on with these dwarves’ brains?" Andrew sighed helplessly.*
*Unquestionably, Gray’s victory was already sealed. However, it seemed everything was just beginning. There were still many tasks to do, many things to explain, to handle.*
"Do you not plan to teach me what to do?" Gray asked the Black Cat.
"No, I don’t. I think you’re ready to truly become a Holy Knight now. Though I don’t know where this confidence comes from," the Black Cat answered.
*The infantry commander named Nubak, how well he fought in wars was unknown, but as a toady, he was first-rate. You might find it hard to imagine how a burly, bearded man with a big belly could be such a sycophant, but that’s exactly what he was—practically changing his face, extremely adept at flattery.*
"The residences for the Silver Moon Knights and dwarves are already arranged. How could the envoys of justice stay in tents? That’s preposterous! Everything is arranged, right next to the Holy Knight! Ensuring you all can feel the Holy Knight’s brilliance at all times! Rest assured, all the houses were rented at high prices! Absolutely no violence used! Buck Town’s residents are very willing to serve the Silver Moon Knight Order!"
...
"Miss Shelley, I have already reprimanded the fool in the kitchen! How can one serve such food to you? I’ve sent a team to hunt in the mountains, you’ll have the finest venison shortly! So you and the Holy Knight can enjoy a romantic candlelight dinner!"
...
"Miss Vivian, you are the Holy Knight’s most loyal servant; I always look up to you. If you need anything, you can summon me anytime. Nubak is always at your service. Of course, this is not to curry favor, but to create an opportunity for me to learn from you!"
...
"Honorable Catherine... um, I don’t know whether to address you as ’Honorable’ or ’Your Highness.’ After all, I’m just a crude mortal who has never seen an Angel before. Just speaking with you is an immense honor. If you need anything, please summon me anytime. Serving you is like receiving divine inspiration!"
Smiling like a flower, Nubak wandered the house, showering everyone with praises. Not even the Black Cat was missed.
"I like this guy!" the Black Cat commented on him.
*You have to admit, because of people like him, Gray’s post-war cleanup became much easier.*
Meanwhile, *Shelley always observed Gray quietly. Unlike the sweet, innocent love she previously had, there was now a calmness in her eyes.*
"What’s up?" Gray asked.
"Nothing." *Shaking her head, Shelley thought for a moment, then added,* "I just learned the whole Silver Moon Knight Order is undead. Vivian is a Succubus. They say a Lich is lurking within our ranks, but I’ve never seen it."
"Are you afraid?"
Shelley nodded, then quickly shook her head, looking at Gray with hopeful eyes, "Afraid, but with you here, I’m not scared."
Gray gently held Shelley’s hand.
...
At night, *the four Holy Knights were all shackled in the dungeon, while the four Guardian Angels appeared before Gray.*
Julian held a scroll in his hands, respectfully placing it on Gray’s desk.
"Is this the selection criteria for Church Holy Knights?"
"Yes."
Gray reached out, picking up the scroll and unfurling it. The first criterion read: A family member must be a clergy, serving for at least twenty-five years.
"Why?"
"Because..." Julian answered softly," humans have short lifespans, and family, blood ties greatly influence them. Having a family member with a tradition of serving as clergy ensures stronger faith in Holy Knights."
The second criterion: must be absolutely loyal to the Church.
"Why not loyalty to the divine spirit or holy faith?"
"If you ask enough people," Julian answered," you’ll find most will tell you they are loyal to the divine spirit and holy faith. But Holy Knights fall under the martial order, core to the Church’s combat strength, not involved in evangelism. Absolute loyalty to holy faith is not the critical test."
The third criterion: physically strong, with a family history of martial prowess.
The fourth criterion: sent to the Church before the age of fifteen, personally trained by the Pope, recommended by the Pope.
The fifth criterion: certified by the divine spirit.
"Does the divine spirit ever refuse certification?"
"Generally not," Julian answered," each time we submit five candidates, the divine spirit selects one to confirm as a Holy Knight. Most of the discretion is given to the Pope, who judges based on the situation faced. Holy Knights are merely the Church’s martial guarantee. Hence, when we are dispatched as Guardian Angels, we are instructed to not defy the Holy Knight’s wishes. Our role is to assist them."
Gray looked to Catherine beside him, "It seems other Holy Knights are different from me."
"You’ve always been unique, you should know that," Catherine replied softly.
"I just didn’t realize I was this unique."
"May I ask..." Julian hesitated," can we take our own Holy Knights back? The capture of four Holy Knights will alarm the entire Cardinal Court, even the Pope."
Gray remained silent, simply sitting in his chair, watching them.
Pausing momentarily, Julian continued awkwardly," I know you don’t mind alerting them, but... the capture of four Holy Knights will destabilize faith across the continent."
"They fell to the sword of justice, mere defeat won’t shake faith," Gray said earnestly, "Since the Cardinal Court and the Pope sent them to attack me, let them come to retrieve them."
