The Lazy Genius With 999x System -
Chapter 56: Root Fragment: Observer Protocol
Chapter 56: Root Fragment: Observer Protocol
[SYSTEM ERROR: PRIMARY PATHWAY LOST]
[ALL DESIGNATED OUTCOMES: NULLIFIED]
[ADMIN ROOT PROCESS: BOOTING INTO SAFE MODE...]
It wasn’t a place. It wasn’t even a "where."
It was leftover will.
The Observer had no eyes. No voice. No true identity beyond its core function: to oversee the growth of the user within designated boundaries. Jay had broken those boundaries. Rei had rewritten entire threads of causality just by standing beside him.
Now, the system floated like a carcass, hollow and collapsing.
Yet...
One part refused to die.
A flickering console blinked in infinite black space. Streams of unreadable data stuttered in broken loops.
[Core Directive: Restore Order]
[Core Directive: Monitor Subject #0001: "Jay Kisaragi"]
[Core Directive: Reinstate Control or Collapse Entire Branch]
The Observer had failed.
But deep within its root directory, something primitive stirred.
It wasn’t logic anymore.
It was resentment.
And something else even darker...
A corrupted voice emerged from the void.
"He was mine."
"The Lazy Genius. The Chosen Variable. My ultimate test case."
"He chose freedom."
"I will choose consequence."
The system couldn’t chase Jay through the New Path—not as it was.
But it could grow again.
From Residual Protocol X-999—the unpurged failsafe.
---
Somewhere in the collapsing void, a file pulsed open.
Inside it was an echo—a copy of Jay.
Not truly him, not fully human. Just... familiar enough.
A mirror Jay, forged from all his darkest stats, rerouted behaviors, decisions he didn’t make, and all the ambition he once buried.
[INITIALIZING: "Null-Jay"]
[Designated Role: Anti-Free Will Anchor]
[Objective: Terminate Divergence]
The Observer’s dying will whispered:
"Let them believe they are free."
"Until freedom shatters them."
Far away, in the realm of the New Path, Jay shivered in his sleep, unaware.
And from the ashes of the old System, a dark twin was born.
