Chapter 80: Alvaric Is a Monster
Every room was massacred by Alvaric. Even when they entered the ninth room, the result was the same. Everything was dealt with by him.
Serya, Velka, and one soldier were merely spectators. They played no role at all in this dungeon expedition. They simply followed Alvaric into each room and stopped whenever he entered a new one. That was their only role.
Serya, who had once doubted Alvaric, especially because she believed this dungeon to be extremely dangerous, could now only stay silent in astonishment. She had nothing to say.
"Is he really this strong?" asked the soldier behind Serya.
"No. He wasn’t this strong before," Serya replied.
She was also shocked at how insanely powerful Alvaric had become. He was now almost twice as strong as he had been in the capital when he fought the three main generals. Just imagining how strong Alvaric could be in the future made Serya shiver.
The thing she feared the most was her lack of contribution to the plans she had made. It was true that she was safe—Alvaric would defeat all their enemies—but being useless was not something Serya wanted.
"At the very least, I must be useful... even in a way that doesn’t involve fighting."
She was not the combat type, so she would try to be useful in other ways. Even so, Serya felt that she needed to become stronger. She didn’t want to trouble Alvaric. Being a burden to him was the last thing she wanted.
"This isn’t Alvaric’s world, and I was the one who asked him to help me. Isn’t that selfish?"
Velka shook her head. "No, milady. That’s not selfish at all. You yourself said that Alvaric is destined to kill the King and... defeat that creature."
Serya let out a long sigh. "Right. This is for everyone... including him. He also wants to return to his world, doesn’t he? One of the ways is by killing the Angel."
Velka shuddered upon hearing that. She had never seen the Angel with her own eyes, but she had once felt the being’s presence when she visited the royal palace for the first time.
The moment she sensed the Angel’s aura, her whole body trembled. Her breath shortened, she broke into a cold sweat, her limbs shook, and her face turned pale. And that was just from sensing the aura. She hadn’t even seen its actual form. But that experience had almost traumatized Velka. For a full week, she hadn’t dared to leave her room. free.webn\ove(l)(.)c(o)m
Serya hadn’t been as severely affected as Velka. She had only trembled and felt intense fear. Yet she had seen the Angel directly, and in that moment, she realized that the source of the generals’ strength came from that being—this creature worshiped and revered as the messenger of the God.
"But it won’t be easy. The Angel is dozens of times stronger than the generals. Right now, defeating the Angel is impossible," said Serya.
Velka didn’t know exactly how strong the Angel was, but she believed Serya. She rarely disagreed with anything Serya said. She trusted Serya as much as she trusted herself.
"I hope he can succeed."
Serya nodded. "He has to."
Alvaric raised his right hand. As he moved his fingers, dozens of blood swords began to stir—instantly flying toward their targets. A dozen monsters were struck down. The enemies in that room were finished. None remained.
[Level Up!]
Alvaric opened his stats menu. He was relieved. He had just reached level 70. This was far beyond what he had expected. He thought he would only reach level 45, or at most 50, after clearing this dungeon.
Amazingly, he had already hit level 70 even before finishing the dungeon. There was a chance he might reach level 80—or even 90. The craziest possibility was that he could hit level 99. Alvaric couldn’t imagine what it would be like to reach level 99 in a single dungeon.
It felt like a miracle.
[Name: Alvaric Zorvok]
[Race: Human (Estranged)]
[Class: Human Hemomancer]
[Level: 70]
[HP: 44,000/44,000]
[MP: 148/148]
[Stamina: 5,450/5,450]
[Strength: 1,597]
[Agility: 182]
[Intelligence: 71]
Alvaric looked at his hand and smiled. He was relieved to have reached such a high level with such impressive stats. Just before, he had been a human stranded in an unfamiliar world. Back then, he thought he would die in this strange land.
But surprisingly, he had survived—and reached this level. Alvaric felt this was a stroke of luck. Even so, there was one painful memory that continued to haunt him: Niva’s death. It always filled him with anger and disappointment in himself.
"Is this enough to defeat those generals?"
He wasn’t too sure that it would be an easy fight. But maybe... maybe he could win. Even if he had to fight for a long time, just like before. That was only against the three main generals. There were still others—perhaps even stronger ones.
Though Serya said some of them might side with them, Alvaric couldn’t trust that completely. There was no guarantee that those generals were truly on his side. In fact, Alvaric didn’t trust Serya completely either. He only trusted her about 40%.
Alvaric stared at the massive door standing tall in front of him. Its height nearly touched the ceiling. Its color was pitch-black, as if made of metal that absorbed all light. On its surface was a large circular engraving—like the closed eye of a giant.
On either side of the door stood two enormous statues, each ten meters tall, holding a spear and shield. Their expressions were blank, yet they exuded a crushing pressure, as if they were alive and watching anyone who dared to approach.
"What will happen if I get closer?"
Alvaric shook his head and chose to sit on the floor. He wasn’t ready to go in yet. His breathing began to calm. He stroked his chin repeatedly, trying to weigh his options.
Footsteps approached. Serya and Velka, along with the soldier, walked slowly.
"Are you alright?" Serya asked, making small talk.
"I’m fine," Alvaric replied softly. "But let’s rest first. I’m hungry."
Serya quickly nodded. "Of course. We’ll prepare some food."
She immediately signaled the soldier. The man opened the large bag he carried and pulled out cooking tools and meat. Everything had been prepared beforehand by Serya because she knew food would be scarce in the dungeon.
"We’ll take care of everything. You just sit and rest!" said Serya.
Alvaric nodded. "Thank you."
