The Last King Of Darkness
Chapter 182 - 133: Undying Spirit

Chapter 182: Chapter 133: Undying Spirit

"Awakening" not only restores Spiritual Energy but also has a certain enhancement effect.

Although Gregor was a Third Level Combatant, he had been severely injured by the Insect Queen first and then suffered a devastating blow from Rod, leaving his strength greatly diminished.

"Dammit, my soul is unstable."

Gregor immediately realized the seriousness of the situation.

He was a rare holder of the Dual Soul Attribute, possessing "Death Abyss" and "Prison Cage."

The former granted him the Undying characteristic and allowed him to master some laws of life.

The latter gave him the ability to imprison, along with mastery over some spatial laws.

Among Third Level Combatants, his combat ability was also considered stronger, but dual attribute holders naturally have unstable souls, prone to extremes, either collapsing, going mad, or self-destructing.

Especially under immense pressure.

"I can only kill him now. I don’t need his flesh and blood, the living here are enough for me to recover... The six resentful spirits have already been killed by them. If I can recover fully, I should be able to escape punishment."

As his thoughts flashed, Gregor sneered, "Die, bastard!"

Raising his other hand, he violently plunged it into Rod’s chest, crushing his heart.

"Rod!"

"Rod!"

The survivors cried out in unison.

Gregor threw the corpse aside and sneered, "What are you yelling for? You’ll be joining him soon."

But the next moment, he realized something was wrong.

The oppression of Spiritual Energy was still present.

Turning his head, he saw that his and the corpse’s Spiritual Energy were still entangled, the white light connecting them, their energies repelling and intertwining, as if determined to settle a victor.

What was going on?

Gregor was puzzled.

Could the dead still control Spiritual Energy?

But soon, he saw that Rod’s chest was intact, undamaged except for his torn clothes.

Did he have a Resurrection characteristic?

Gregor couldn’t dwell on his doubts and stepped forward, once again piercing Rod’s chest, digging out his heart and crushing it into pieces.

But this time, he saw clearly.

The fresh blood and heart fragments slowly disappeared as if they were merely a Phantom.

And Rod’s chest was intact once again.

"This is impossible!"

A characteristic that allowed repeated resurrection was unheard of.

Gregor furiously attacked Rod, but whether he was tearing out hearts or decapitating heads, everything was like an illusion, instantly restoring to its original state.

His distraction caused his Spiritual Energy contest to crumble instantly, the opponent’s Spiritual Energy had invaded his soul, sieging and damaging his soul’s pathways.

Gregor exclaimed in horror, "What exactly are you?"

Unable to kill Rod, he desperately tried to disentangle from the Spiritual Energy battle, but the fiercely fighting energies could not be separated.

Rod cracked a smile, his voice hoarse, "You are dead, worm!"

Bang!

Gregor once again smashed his head and deliberately gripped his neck with a large hand.

But it was still useless, Rod returned to his original state, and somehow, his hand had moved to one side.

Gregor jumped up, trying to flee, but the entangled Spiritual Energies could not be separated, and the tearing Spiritual Energy felt like it was ripping his mind apart.

Rod stood up and stepped towards him.

The ties of Spiritual Energy between them, he vigorously drove his Spiritual Energy in an attack, feeling that the opponent’s soul was on the brink of collapse.

Twelve seconds left.

"Undying Spirit."

Rod’s last card.

The moment Gregor was resurrected and killed a warrior, Rod had crushed it.

The "Undying Spirit" granted him undying ability but only lasted thirty seconds.

These were the final twelve seconds to kill him.

Gregor was terrified, shouting, "Don’t kill me! Don’t kill me! I surrender! I will serve you!"

Rod didn’t pay any attention to him, still stepping towards him.

The closing distance aided the erosion of his Spiritual Energy.

In panic, Gregor looked around, everyone stood frozen, as if disbelieving the scene before them.

Suddenly, Gregor saw a blaze of fire approaching them from the sky, his heart surged with joy, and he shouted, "Help! Guardian! Help! There are Doomsday believers here, they are trying to kill me!"

The sound carried far, and the firelight hastened towards them, landing like a meteor.

The red firelight scattered in all directions, and three people emerged from it.

Leading them was a young woman, about twenty years old, with clear eyes and delicate features, wearing a peculiar long robe composed of cyan and white, with a distinct triple flame emblem at the collar.

Behind her followed a burly white-haired man and a young lady with tea-colored long hair.

It was Guardian Qingyu, White Wolf Vimier, and Doctor Arlo whom Rod had met on his first day.

Although it had been over two months since their last meeting, Rod recognized them instantly.

Gregor shouted, "Quick, Lady Qingyu, save me! They are Doomsday believers, they are trying to kill me!"

Qingyu’s gaze swiftly swept across the area, landing on the connection of Spiritual Energy between the two.

She made no movement, yet their connection was severed in an instant.

Gregor gasped for air and rushed over.

White Wolf stepped forward, blocking him.

The icy-cold gaze from Sen made Gregor stop in his tracks. With a thud, his tall, half-skeletal body knelt down, his flesh hitting the ground, splattering blood everywhere.

Anna furrowed her brows and stepped back.

White Wolf coldly asked, "Who are you? Why have you turned into this?"

Gregor shouted, "I am Chief Judge Gregor, currently assigned to combat in the Seventh Defense Zone. Under the orders of Sir Jon, I went to support Sword Pass, but many Doomsday believers infiltrated the area, desperately trying to sabotage Sword Pass. I fought with all my might against them, but unfortunately, I was defeated."

"Sword Pass was sabotaged, all my subordinates died in battle. If it weren’t for my ’Death Abyss’ characteristic, I would have died by now and been falsely labeled as a Doomsday believer."

"You’re full of shit!"

Karamon was furious and bellowed, "You are the Doomsday believer! You killed so many people, you... you..."

The survivors were also furious, but Gregor did not even glance at them, wailing, "Your honor, you see, they have already started framing me!"

Qingyu shifted her gaze, her inky-black eyes resting on Rod. She softly asked, "Redstone Village’s Rod, tell me, what happened here."

Rod took a deep breath, his intense anger and murderous intent suppressed within him, as he calmly recounted the entire incident.

His narration was logical, clear, and coherently linked from cause to effect.

White Wolf nodded slightly. It had been over two months since he’d last seen him, and this kid had improved a lot from his initial awkward conversational skills.

Finally, Rod concluded, "Everyone who survived can testify for us, while he has nothing but his word."

Anna softly said, "Sister Qingyu, I think what Rod says is true."

Gregor hurriedly said, "Miss Anna, please do not be deceived by his appearance. I may look horrifying, but I am actually the good person here, while he, though looking clean and neat, is actually a monster."

Anna wrinkled her nose and hid behind Qingyu.

"You’re lying, I don’t believe you."

Gregor immediately said, "Please think about it carefully. I am a Third-Level combatant. If I really were a Doomsday believer, I could have killed them all in an instant. How could I have been defeated by them? Moreover, my team members were also killed by them. We can examine the cause of their deaths, it will clearly show they were killed by them."

Anna shouted loudly, "They were with you! They’re also Doomsday believers!"

Gregor immediately smiled, "See, Your Honor, they’ve admitted it themselves. My team members are all Oath Knights of the Holy Church. Surely, you don’t think there are Doomsday believers among the Oath Knights, do you?"

Karamon angrily said, "How could there not be! You..."

But Anna and Egger covered both his mouth and knee at the same time.

Egger spoke in a dark tone, "Oath Knights must abide by their vows, or they lose the powers granted by those vows. They couldn’t possibly be Doomsday believers."

Rod’s heart skipped a beat, knowing the situation was dire. He immediately explained, "They were controlled by someone—Gregor commanded them to attack us!"

Gregor revealed a smug smile.

"Starting to fabricate lies again, how did I control the Oath Knights? You tell me."

Rod’s expression darkened as he sternly said, "I don’t know your methods, but they were indeed under your control, attacking us with swords. Many were killed by them."

Gregor shouted angrily, "You’re lying! You ambushed them! They fought back valiantly, killing several before being overwhelmed and heroically sacrificing themselves."

Rod’s anger was becoming uncontrollable. He turned his head, looking into Qingyu’s eyes, each word deliberate:

"If our kingdom can distort truth this way, then I think it has no need to exist anymore."

"Look!"

Gregor leapt up, shouting loudly, "The tail shows! Standard Doomsday believer’s talk! Wishing for everything to be destroyed! Trampling over everyone’s efforts and contributions! He deserves to die a thousand deaths!"

Qingyu looked at Rod, their gazes meeting in the air, neither of them speaking.

Gregor continued shouting, "I have the most substantial evidence, he’s a monster that cannot be killed no matter how you try! Just test it, and you’ll see he’s definitely not human!"

"No, take Gregor away, hand him over to the Judgement Court." Qingyu said softly.

"What?"

Gregor couldn’t believe his ears.

"Why? Your Honor Qingyu, why is this?"

Just as White Wolf stepped forward to take Gregor away, another flash of fire shot from the distance, landing seconds later.

A man also dressed in a blue and white long robe, with a triple flame symbol on the collar, stepped out from it.

His features were sharp, greasy black hair cascading down his cheeks, and a large hooked nose, his eyes icy and profound.

Two other individuals, a young man and woman, equally gaunt and indifferent, trailed behind him.

"Gregor, what have they done to you?"

The man glanced at Gregor’s ghastly appearance, then shifted his gaze to Qingyu.

"What is going on here?"

Qingyu calmly replied, "Jon, your Sword Pass has been breached. My ninth elite combat group has already gone to provide assistance. And this person, he is the main culprit behind the breach of Sword Pass."

She quickly narrated the incident.

Jon frowned instantly.

"Are you joking? How could Gregor be a Doomsday believer? Are you trying to frame me? Are these anomalies at Sword Pass your doing?"

Qingyu furrowed her brows, a loathsome expression appearing on her beautiful face:

"Jon, that’s impossible. It’s always been my policy to forbid malicious infighting."

But Jon revealed a cold smile:

"Very well, I knew you weren’t a naive saint, Mother. A future king must be colder, more ruthless. Your disguise was perfect, even I was deceived. I greatly admire that you could make such a bold move... alright then, let us settle this. If you defeat me, I will willingly submit and become one of your kings."

He turned around.

"See you in the Judgement Court."

The black-haired young man stepped forward and took hold of Rod.
