The Last Gentleman
Chapter 587: 585: Join Forces

Lorrian spoke uncomfortably, "Can we talk after you take off your mask? This appearance makes me quite uneasy..."

"Who told you to think about possessing me as soon as we met?"

"It was just a joke, mainly to test your current level, William. The fact that you’re unaffected by my illusion technique indicates your growth has been quite impressive.

Indeed worthy of being an inner member of the Circus, and a human I regard highly."

Since William was the one asking for a favor, he didn’t mind the request and removed his mask to return to his normal state.

Lorrian waved his hand, signaling a bandaged nurse to prepare a special tea for William named ’Moon in a cup,’ which helps clear the mind and even enhance the effects of Moon Transformation Syndrome temporarily.

Lorrian didn’t start a conversation about the performance, but rather began talking about the past in the Old World.

"William, the last time I sensed the moon power you released, I came to the Circus to find you, but I was stopped outside by a guy named Art challenging me to a duel.

That guy was quite formidable; he almost took my life.

This clown’s strength should be among the top in the Circus, right?"

"Let me think, if we don’t count the boss, he should be third?"

"Oh, only third among the members? What kind of monsters are the top two... I consider myself in control of the new Moon Power, and I thought I received a weapon perfectly matched to my fate from the Duke, which should put me at the top among those in the Silver Circle. Who knew I’d almost be killed by this clown.

Also, be careful, William.

While I was fighting this clown, I accidentally perceived his true nature through my illusion technique. His ultimate goal might be to turn the entire Old World into part of his malicious proliferation."

William, hands in his pockets, leaned against the wall at the hospital’s entrance, "Of course, I know how terrible that clown is; he’s the one I’m most cautious of in the entire Circus... Can we get back to the topic? Are you willing to act with me? We’re rushed for time now, and we can chat later if you want."

Lorrian shifted his gaze back to his body, "Because of that clown, my body is severely injured; indeed, it might be beneficial to nourish it with ancient blood.

You’re dealing with the ’Blood Citizens,’ right? Briefly tell me about the situation."

"Verbal descriptions are too inefficient..."

Having said that, whoosh!

William directly inserted his index finger into his ear, reaching into his brain, and scraped out a lump of brain tissue containing active memory cells... With a flick of his finger, he shot it towards Lorrian.

Pop!

Lorrian, wary of this dark brain tissue, immediately soaked it in a test tube filled with silver liquid, washed off the surface’s black substance, then inserted it into his own brain to read detailed information related to Zion.

"Has your human organization encountered such big trouble? And there are also ancient-era warriors from the Silver Circle... The risk is too high, it’s not worth risking so much for a few bags of plasma.

Add a bit more to the stake, William."

"Those Blood Citizens possess a certain technology, even possibly an extraterrestrial treasure, which can be used to stabilize the ’Path’ allowing Silver Circle powerhouses to arrive in this world early.

If we can kill the ’Seven Marquis’ who survived from the ancient era and even participated in the war, we might obtain treasures from the Otherworld.

If the two of us contribute the most, and the item falls into our hands, I will willingly give it to you. How about that?

Those Blood Citizens were quite insane during the war, fighting the invaders at all costs, surely killing many guests from the Otherworld, so they must have valuable things on them."

"Hmm..." Lorrian rubbed his fingers together, "Add one more condition, and I’ll agree to assist you humans."

"What?"

"When we launch a full assault on Zion later, if we encounter the Seven Marquis face to face and feel powerless, you, William, will have to ’temporarily combine’ with me, just like the first time we went to the Old World."

"That’s possible."

William moved closer to the bed and shook hands with Lorrian, making an agreement.

"By the way, how will you get here from the other side of the sea?"

Lorrian’s gaze slowly shifted to the window, "Well, if it was before completing the path, that indeed would be a troublesome issue. I’d have to rush on horseback and take a ferry to cross the Gray Sea, which would take at least a month or two to meet up with you. But now... wherever the Moonlight touches belongs to me.

I can descend to any region illuminated by Moonlight.

Now, I have already reached the cave where you are."

Snap! Lorrian snapped his fingers.

The hospital and the scenes of the moon instantly collapsed, as a flash of moonlight swept through their eyes, returning them directly to the mountain cave.

Emerging from the darkness, Lorrian wore, contrary to his previous image, a silver-white suit instead of hospital clothes.

Even his hairstyle had been slightly altered; his previously messy bangs were now turned upward, fixed in place with some kind of liquid.

His moon-like eyes were disguised as ordinary human pupils, exuding an aura below that of Open Source, perfectly fitting the image of a young and talented gentleman.

"Indeed, Lorrian, you are very good at acting..."

William, also using the Madness Brain’s perfect control over his physical body, suppressed himself to a state incredibly close to Open Source.

"Lorrian, before we set off, I still need to remind you.

We are here only to investigate the general situation inside Zion, to figure out how many Silver Circle powerhouses are stationed inside. A full-scale attack requires us to take back the intelligence and launch it together with the entire Gentleman Organization.

So, this performance cannot afford any mistakes, and we must deal flexibly with all kinds of unforeseen circumstances."

Lorrian pointed towards the moon piercing through the clouds, "Don’t worry, the moonlight will complete our disguises and acting; these brutal and bloodthirsty fools incapable of thinking will never see through the veil of the moon... Enjoy the performance."

Thus, illuminated by the moonlight, the two of them advanced towards Zion.

All along the way, they tried to adjust their facial expressions, to display variations of unease, conflict, and inner struggle, indicating that they had decided to join the Bloodpeople after a mental battle.

Upon reaching halfway up the mountain, a patrolling Bloodperson, sensing their presence, flew towards them with wings on its back.

Its bloody mouth, torn to the earlobes, grinded its yellowed teeth, and through the gaps, a series of blood-sucking tubular tongues could be seen flitting between them.

Staring at them, its pupils emanated a strong desire to feed.

William stepped forward, speaking timidly,

"You... Hello, my friend Lorrian and I no longer follow the original Gentleman Organization, have decided to become one of you, and are ready to undergo a ’full-body Blood Transformation’."

"Blood... Fresh human blood."

The rather inferior Bloodperson hadn’t listened to a single word, focused only on sucking blood, even forgetting the manor’s rules.

Suddenly, instinct overpowered reason.

Buzz! Its wings flapped and it charged directly at the two men... In the eyes of the Bloodperson, as long as it drained them dry and disposed of the bodies, there would be no violation.

William furrowed his brows, not expecting to encounter such an anomaly at the start of the performance.

Just as he was about to use Madness Brain to forcefully influence the Bloodperson in front of him...

Snap! A sudden snap of fingers came.

Immediately after, the Bloodperson’s body started swelling and then exploded to death.

Carrying the Blood Plague Pathogen, blood splattered over William and Lorrian, neither of whom showed disgust or hurried to wipe it off but stood there still.

Snap, snap, snap!

A round of applause came from around the corner of the mountain path.

A man wearing a white wig and blue noble’s robe appeared,

His features were handsome, skin pale, and his face and facial features even resembled a woman,

"Hmm, I can see that the two of you are very determined and have already decided to become one of us.

Very good, come with me!

As long as you can get through the full-body Blood Transformation, you can become my direct subordinates, Viscount Demetri Siani, and enjoy privileges that ordinary Bloodpeople do not have in this new manor."

"Thank you, Lord Viscount..."

"Ah~ Don’t rush to thank me, thank me in a more intimate way after you’ve gone through the Blood Transformation! Just make me satisfied, and I might give you more opportunities."
