Chapter 755: Chapter 755: Returning to One’s Ancestral Roots (11)_1

Xiu Xi had already come out of the office and, seeing Ruan Jiaojiao involved in this, walked over with Ruan Feng on either side, shielding the two younger ones behind them. Lu Zishu, also in the crowd, thought for a moment and followed them.

The situation had escalated to a point of no return, and although Qi Lian was angry, he wasn’t too worried; he didn’t believe the students could cause much trouble.

Once they reached the headmaster’s office, the headmaster turned around to see several students following and was surprised to find Xiu Xi, Ruan Feng, and Lu Zishu among them. He asked with confusion, "What are you doing here?"

"This is my younger brother, and this is my younger sister," Xiu Xi said.

"This is my brother, and this is my sworn sister," added Ruan Feng and Lu Zishu simultaneously.

Xiu Xi remained silent, but the way he stood behind Ruan Jiaojiao made it clear he wasn’t leaving either.

The headmaster, already aware of Xiu Xi and Ruan Jiaojiao’s relationship from Shu Jiao’s previous visit, didn’t inquire further but turned to Qi Lian instead, "Principal Qi, what’s going on here?"

"Headmaster, don’t you know what kind of person I am? It’s all nonsense talked by this student. I just criticized him for wandering around during lunch break, and look, he couldn’t handle it. A student with such poor character should not be kept at our school," Qi Lian had completely calmed down, speaking coldly and evenly, as if the incident had indeed happened that way.

"You’re slandering! My brother is not that kind of person at all," Ruan Jiaojiao, having learned from Shu Jiao what kind of person Qi Lian was, couldn’t tolerate his depiction of her brother and immediately retorted anxiously.

Fearful that the headmaster might believe Qi Lian’s words, she pleaded anxiously with the headmaster, "Headmaster, please believe in my brother. My brother would never lie; he is not that kind of person."

"Don’t worry," Little Fatty felt pride swell within him seeing his sister getting this worked up for him. He quickly reassured her, then turned to the headmaster, "Headmaster, everything I said is true."

"I went to the office with our class leader Xiu Xi and Qi Weixin. I saw the class leader and Qi Weixin taking a test, but soon after, Qi Weixin ran out crying. As she’s still a classmate, I was worried something might happen to her, so I followed her," Little Fatty explained with a face full of consideration for a fellow student, which then fell to a pained expression as he continued, "But I never expected to overhear this incident at his home’s doorstep. I was stunned at the time and ran back here straight away, with Principal Qi chasing after me the whole way. If he wasn’t guilty, why would he chase after me?"

"And I swear to heaven, if there is any lie in what I say, may thunder strike me down," said Little Fatty, raising his chubby paw up high.

"What nonsense about being struck by lightning; don’t talk rubbish," the headmaster scolded him, already formulating an opinion in his mind. He then looked toward Xiu Xi, "Student Xiu Xi, tell me your version of events."

Xiu Xi recounted being called to the office for a math test by the math teacher at noon and pointedly highlighted Qi Weixin’s unusual behavior at the time.

"Qi Weixin did act very strangely," said Xiu Xi, glancing at the dark-faced Qi Lian, "She was fine in the classroom, even reading a comic book, but as soon as she got to the office, she started crying, saying she wasn’t feeling well, and so Teacher Gu let her go back early." Teacher Gu was their math teacher.
