Ruan Chi smiled, patted Little Cutie’s belly as if rewarding it, and then stood up.

Seeing Ruan Wei, who hadn’t moved from the front steps since he had finished eating, Ruan Chi’s gaze darkened, and he said to Ruan Jiaojiao, "Isn’t Jiaojiao supposed to take a nap? Go sleep, I want to talk with your brother Wei for a bit."

Ruan Jiaojiao observed his expression closely, and seeing that he didn’t seem troubled, she relaxed and nodded obediently. She also felt that the brothers needed to talk.

"Ah, Xiaobai, it must be nice being a snake," Ruan Jiaojiao mused as she thought of the day’s troubles and stroked Xiaobai’s cool body.

Xiaobai’s head tilted in confusion.

Ruan Jiaojiao didn’t answer; as Xiaobai turned its puzzled head to look at her, it saw that she had already closed her eyes and fallen asleep. How she managed to fall asleep so quickly was beyond Xiaobai.

Xiaobai, feeling the oppressive heat, didn’t venture off to the mountains to cool down as usual. Instead, it twisted its body and slid under the bed for some relief. Although Little Cutie had saved someone yesterday, which was commendable, Xiaobai still didn’t trust its fighting capabilities; after all, it had become so fat that it hardly seemed useful! Little Cutie felt it was safer for it to stand guard.

Back at the restaurant,

After the meal, Zhao Li and her group came out of the private room. By then, there weren’t many customers left, and the few workers the restaurant had hired were having their meal.
