Chapter 541: Chapter 541 Big Business (7)_1

The woman looked even older than the Ruanlin family, with all white hair, but she seemed especially spirited, and even with her full head of white hair, she appeared full of energy.

"So, Grandma thought you got lost." The old woman smiled without a care, her eyes smiling as they scanned Xiu Xi, who was guarding in front of Ruan Jiaojiao, and she added, "Is this your brother? The sibling bond seems really strong."

Ruan Jiaojiao nodded, moving out from behind Xiu Xi.

The elderly lady glanced again at the restaurant behind them, looking somewhat surprised.

Perhaps having some spare time, she was in no hurry to leave. Instead, she turned to Ruan Jiaojiao and asked, "Little child, Grandma’s legs are sore from walking. Could you move a stool over for me to sit on?"

Ruan Jiaojiao nodded and hurried into the restaurant, struggling to drag a chair outside. Seeing her struggling, Xiu Xi helped her carry the chair out.

After the old woman settled down with a smile, she turned to Ruan Jiaojiao and asked, "Grandma is just strolling around with nothing to do. Is this your family’s restaurant back here?"

Ruan Jiaojiao didn’t know what she was aiming for but could only nod in response.

"Well, can you make some food for Grandma? I haven’t eaten anything for several days."

"..." Ruan Jiaojiao really wanted to say that she didn’t look like someone who hadn’t eaten for days.

But after thinking about it, she turned back into the restaurant and asked Chef Zeng who said there was still plenty of food in the kitchen because they hadn’t managed to serve it all up yet.

Ruan Jiaojiao ran to the kitchen, thinking that the old lady was of advanced age and probably liked soft food. She scooped up a bowl of porridge and picked a bit from each dish left over, then she and Xiu Xi each carried a bowl out and placed it on another chair.

"Please eat," Ruan Jiaojiao said, handing the chopsticks to her.

However, she wrinkled her small eyebrows, thinking of something. Although she trusted her family’s cooking, she still had to say...

"Grandma, our restaurant was smashed because someone claimed that our food was unclean and caused someone to be poisoned. They were taken to the hospital and are said to be still in critical condition. Maybe you shouldn’t..."

"Hospital? Critical condition?" The old woman’s eyes flashed as she looked at her: "Which hospital?"

Ruan Jiaojiao knew this because there was only one hospital in town. She replied, "Fukang Hospital."

The old woman nodded, chuckled softly, and started eating the porridge. After finishing, she picked up a chopstick of the dish, chewed it and swallowed. Then she nodded with appreciation, "Your family’s food is quite good. I bet business is usually great, right?"

"Mhm." Ruan Jiaojiao nodded. Mentioning this made her mood heavy, and she sat down on the step, resting her small chin in her hands as she watched her eat.

The old lady didn’t have much of an appetite, only eating half a bowl of porridge and a little bit of the dish before she was full.

She put down her tableware and, looking at the little girl burdened with heavy thoughts, was about to say something when she saw several people rushing over from behind. They were all around their forties or fifties. Upon seeing the elderly woman sitting there, they all breathed a sigh of relief.

One of them approached and said, "Mom, how did you sneak out again?" Glancing at the food on the chair, he frowned, "And you’re eating out again. What if it upsets your stomach?!"

Upon hearing this, Ruan Jiaojiao became upset, glaring at the person, thinking that it was because of this kind of talk that her uncles and father had been locked up. Her eyes reddened as she stared at the person and yelled, "Our restaurant’s food is fine! Don’t talk nonsense! You’re slandering us!"
