Chapter 370: Chapter 370: The Start of School (6)_1

Xiu Xi was nominally eight years old this year, which meant he should have been in third grade according to common practice. The past few years had been delayed by the Xiu Family, but given his exceptional intelligence and ambition, although she always wished he and Ruan Jiaojiao could be in the same class for mutual support, she also did not want him to fall behind because of this.

"No, I want to be with Jiaojiao," Xiu Xi shook his head, determined to be wherever Ruan Jiaojiao was.

Ruan Jiaojiao remained silent on the side. With the memories she inherited from her predecessor, it would actually have been no problem for her to skip straight to the third grade. However, she did not want to, fearing it would arouse the suspicions of the Ruanlin Family, who, in their eyes, saw her as having some potential, yet certainly not to an astonishing degree.

As for Xiu Xi, he was already considered exceptional, and being a bit more so wouldn’t make much difference.

If they indeed needed to skip a grade, it would have to be a gradual process, not something done right from the start.

The homeroom teacher quickly brought over the kindergarten final exam papers from the previous term. Ruan Jiaojiao and Xiu Xi sat at either side of the teacher’s desk because the school’s desks and chairs were supposed to be provided by students themselves. Ruan Jiaojiao’s and Xiu Xi’s desks and chairs would not arrive until that afternoon when Ruan Jianguo would deliver them, so for now, they could only sit at the teacher’s desk.

Shu Lang and the Ruanlin Family waited by the window while the homeroom teacher assisted the other students with their enrollment and kept an eye on them.

The two exam papers, combining both language and mathematics, had one subject on each side of the paper.

Both Ruan Jiaojiao and Xiu Xi gauged their time while writing, taking twenty minutes on an exam that they could have easily completed in a flash.

The teacher collected and reviewed the papers, and was immediately surprised by the glance she gave both students.

Ruan Jiaojiao intentionally answered one question wrong, scoring ninety-nine, while Xiu Xi got full marks.

At first, the homeroom teacher thought they would barely pass but was shocked to see them both score high marks. After all, in those days, there were very few educated people in their small village, let alone someone who could tutor a student to achieve such scores.

However, upon learning during the subsequent conversation that they were members of the Ruan Family, the teacher quickly came to understand.

The Ruan boys had always done well in this school, and as some left, others would arrive, occupying the top three spots in each grade. There wasn’t a teacher in the school who didn’t recognize them.

And then there was Shu Jiao, who had been well-known in the school earlier on.

It was no big deal that Ruan Jiaojiao, born into such a family, was a little brighter, and Xiu Xi was assumed to be a relative of the Ruan Family.

And so, Ruan Jiaojiao and Xiu Xi were successfully enrolled and became first-grade students.

"You can start school tomorrow. It’s best to move the desks and chairs over in the afternoon and have the names stuck on them. I’ll arrange seating for them in the morning, and they will be dismissed before noon. The school canteen won’t officially open until the day after tomorrow. As for the condition you mentioned, bring the doctor’s note for Student Ruan tomorrow, and I will apply for it," the teacher explained.

Having enrolled two bright and intelligent students made the teacher very happy.

When the teacher heard that Ruan Jiaojiao’s health was poor and she couldn’t eat at the school but needed nourishing meals from home, she hesitated a moment before agreeing to help with the application.

After completing these procedures and leaving the classroom, Ruan Jiaojiao still hadn’t seen Xiu Xun, Wa Yiting, or Xiu Cheng. She suspected that perhaps, once again, her arrival had brought about this series of changes.

Outside the classroom, several boys had already taken care of their affairs and were waiting for Ruan Jiaojiao and the others. Zhao Li had become impatient waiting at the school gate and had come in to join the boys in their wait.
