Chapter 176: Chapter 176 Divorce Assistance (2)_1
Ruan Jiaojiao deliberately wanted to stir things up, so she wrapped her arms around the Ruanlin family matriarch’s neck and asked, choking back tears, "Daddy, why did Auntie say that Jiaojiao is an undisciplined brat with a mother but no upbringing? Where is Jiaojiao’s mom?"
Having asked, Ruan Jiaojiao’s tears began to fall.
This time, she wasn’t faking her sobs but was genuinely crying.
The moment she cried out for her mother, her heart suddenly ached, and the sorrow that surged up within her almost overwhelmed her.
"She’s talking nonsense!" Ruan Jianguo cursed for the first time in front of Ruan Jiaojiao, with his eyes turning bloodshot red.
The Ruanlin family matriarch was also grinding her teeth.
Ruan Jun stood to one side with his eyes downcast and saying nothing, and since Ruan Jiandang was physically disabled, he was the only one who hadn’t made it back yet.
Wu Le sighed and said, "This is just too much." She was truly at her wits’ end with this sister-in-law. To think she’d come back to steal meat while they were all away; had she gone mad?
Ruan Jianmin nudged her, signaling her not to speak carelessly.
Wu Le pursed her lips, said nothing more, turned, and took a sip of water before saying, "Now that everyone’s back, we might as well have dinner. Third sister-in-law, let’s cook together."
Du Qing nodded and followed her to the kitchen.
Inside the main hall, everyone was quiet.
Only the faint sound of Ruan Jiaojiao’s sniffling could be heard.
Ruan Jianguo paced restlessly around the room until Ruan Jiandang entered, leaning on his crutch, and then he stopped.
Ruan Jiandang, seeing everyone looking at him, was somewhat bewildered. His gaze fell on Ruan Jiaojiao, who was still crying, and he asked with concern, "Is Jiaojiao alright?"
"She’s fine. The problem is with you," the Ruanlin family matriarch said sternly.
At this moment, her patience with Liao Zhaoji had reached its limit.
Ruan Jiandang didn’t understand. Ruan Jun walked over, roughly explained the situation, and Ruan Jiandang’s expression became extremely ugly.
Without a word, he turned to leave.
"Where are you going?" the Ruanlin family matriarch asked with a stern face.
"To get a divorce immediately!" Ruan Jiandang replied.
"Do you think she’ll agree if you go over like this?" the Ruanlin family matriarch scoffed.
The last time they went to get a divorce, it was because she refused to sign the papers at all costs, so they could only return home without resolving anything.
After so much time, she would agree now?
Ruan Jiandang halted.
"There’s only one solution to this, but it depends on whether you are prepared to take action," the Ruanlin family matriarch had always had a solution in mind but had refrained from acting because she didn’t want to make a scene in front of the children.
But Liao Zhaoji’s recent actions taught her that her kindness was the true cruelty to her children.
"Ruan Jun, Ruan Chi, Ruan Wei, come over here," she called.
The three men stepped forward.
"Granny is asking you, after your father and mother divorce, who will you choose to be with?"
"With Dad," Ruan Chi was the first to respond, having completely given up on Liao Zhaoji.
"With Dad," Ruan Jun hesitated for two seconds before answering.
Ruan Wei looked at the Ruanlin family matriarch, then at Ruan Jiandang, with tears brimming in his eyes. He still wanted his mother; he didn’t want his parents to divorce.
But if he had to choose one, he could only opt for his grandmother’s home.
"With Dad," he choked out, his tears flowing down as he softly sobbed.
"Good boy," the Ruanlin family matriarch touched his head, comforting him.
She handed Ruan Jiaojiao over to Ruan Hao’s arms, turned her gaze to Ruan Jiandang, and said, "Come with me."
The two of them went back inside the house and closed the door behind them, leaving others to wonder what they were discussing.
