Chapter 338: The Three Chapters Pact (6)
Jian Anning was taken aback for a moment and looked at him. She didn’t have much of a feeling for Lu Jiayuan by then, and upon his arrival, she simply said, "Sure. But do you have a cup?"
She had only prepared cups for Yu Zexiao and herself. When other people in the crew came to ask for tea, they would bring their own vessels.
Lu Jiayuan also knew about Yu Zexiao’s habits, so without a word, he went back to get a cup for her.
Although Jian Anning didn’t want to associate deeply with him, the two of them were not exactly enemies. Thereupon, she actually boiled a pot of water.
It was midsummer recently, and the weather was hot and dry. Jian Anning brewed some Anji white tea, which was thirst-quenching and cooling. The Anji white tea leaves were a lush green, delicately wrapped in a thin layer of white fuzz. After the water boiled, she didn’t rush to steep the tea but first used the boiling water to cleanse her cup, Lu Jiayuan’s cup, and Yu Zexiao’s special glass cup, then she placed down the white tea.
Only when the temperature dropped slightly to 90 degrees, did her slender arms pick up the teapot and begin to fill the cups with water.
As it was midsummer, she was wearing short sleeves, exposing a segment of her fair and tender arms. Lu Jiayuan’s gaze couldn’t help but fall on her smooth, pale arms.
Jian Anning was not the kind of striking beauty that would amaze someone at first glance, and she didn’t like to wear makeup, but that didn’t mean she didn’t take care of her skin.
After all, she came from a wealthy family and the environment in Canada was fresh and natural, advocating purity. She hardly ever used cosmetics, but she would definitely go for regular skin care treatments. Over time, she had developed a complexion as smooth and white as milk, shining brightly under the harsh studio lights.
Furthermore, her features were not astounding, but they were pleasant to look at. Initially, one might only find her elegantly sweet. But the more one looked at her, the more gentle and endearing she appeared, akin to a piece of jade that seemed unremarkable at first, but with time, it would be nurtured into a dazzling brilliance.
Especially since he once knew that Jian Anning really disliked tea—preferring coffee, which was fashionable and could be sweetened with milk and sugar, ignoring the bitter-sweet taste of ordinary green tea. If not for that man, why would she learn all this?
After brewing, the tea leaves floated up and down in the glass cup like elves dancing among flowers, their fragrance lingering for a long time. A scent of tea rose with the mist, and within the hazy steam, he saw her silhouette, similarly blurred. It was as if time had shifted, and he saw the girl he had encountered years ago under the maple tree reciting books.
He finished the cup of tea unaware, and as she got up, she casually tilted the teapot over. From his angle, he could just see her large V-neck, the exposed wounds on her shoulder, and below her collarbone, dense clusters of reddish marks—
His eyes narrowed; he was no longer the inexperienced young man when it came to women. Of course, he knew what these marks meant!
Just as he was about to speak up and inquire, his assistant came over and called him, "JASON, the director is asking for you!"
He paused for a moment, then looked up at her. Jian Anning’s expression remained calm and composed, seemingly indifferent to his comings and goings.
A pain struck his heart, as he seemed to understand that some things, once missed, were truly missed. Yet, he still couldn’t let go.
Because, how could a man like Yu Zexiao be worthy of her? If given a chance, he definitely wanted to pursue her again, to prove to her that only he could give her happiness!
