Chapter 294: 293. The Demon’s Game (3)
The dead body was convulsing and there was a dark mist that rose from it, creating a huge black cloud over the place which made the people start to choke and cry out.
"The hell?!" I gasped before I heard a chuckle from the black impersonating Dragon.
I glared at him and he gave me a smirk before he disappeared leaving me with the dying people.
The dark cloud seemed like it was some sort of a onset of a disease which was sucking the life out of the people. They cried and tried to get away creating a stampede.
The Knights were no longer able to handle the situation and I couldn’t wait anymore.
"Stop right there!" I roared down towards the crowd making them go still.
Simultaneously, I created a huge water ball infused with Healing mana before I splashed it down on the people.
The supreme healing mana did its work in dispersing the black cloud of plague and the people whoever came into contact were instantly healed.
"We-We are healed?"
"Th-The Dragon healed us!"
Some cheered while some were still in agony.
"Hurry and heal the others!" I heard some of the priests shouting and some Healers rushed out taking care of the people around.
I looked at them while maintaining my position inside the water Dragon watching everyone when I spotted Sir Asher who looked up at me with a grateful smile.
I then looked at the dead body of Marvoni which was mutilated and was covered in cuts. It was also completely naked with the black spell etched on his chest, possibly to summon the plague.
The royal knights along with the nobles had also gathered by now after knowing of the High Priest’s confession and they watched me with wide eyes after hearing what had transpired within the past couple of minutes.
Damon looked up at me with awe-filled eyes along with the other nobles who at some point might have forgotten that the Dragons’ history wasn’t a mere myth. They were the living legends who still roamed the earth, protecting this world and the races.
"Lord Dragon..."
"The real one!"
"H-He came to deliver us!"
Once the situation was calmed down the people got on their knees before me and clasped their hands as they looked up at me.
"Burn the corpse and arrest the ones who are responsible for tarnishing the name that was always spoken with reverence!" I spoke up.
"Y-Yes... Lord Dragon."
"Return the Healers who were gathered here for no reason at all and fix what was done wrong by those in power. If there’s even a little mistake this time then..." I let the threat hang in the air as I looked at the Priests.
Dorrith and Longland who were among them were visibly paled and already slumped to the ground.
"Whoever dares to tarnish the name of Saintess Miella and the Dragons shall be punished!" I announced.
"All Hail Saintess Miella and Holy Dragons!"
"All Hail Saintess Miella and Holy Dragons!"
"All Hail Saintess Miella and Holy Dragons!"
The people cheered as they bowed their heads and I flew away with the Dragon and after a little distance I dispersed it before I landed on the ground returning to the Temple. I had seen the girl in the crowd of people as she was healing the people.
I saw Sir Asher who along with Damon was arresting those who had been committing crimes under the name of the Temple. Dorrith and Langland were included in that list as well.
"Stop it! Y-You can’t do it! We-We are supported by the Saintess!" Dorrith shouted resisting.
"To think there is someone who is daring to resist the punishment after hearing what the Lord Dragon said, you’re begging for death, aren’t you?" Damon spoke up coldly and Dorrith gasped.
"The Saintess-" he opened his mouth again making me roll my eyes.
"Doesn’t support you." I announced and the ones in vicinity turned to look at me.
Damon who spotted me blinked a bit before he went to bow but I shook my head gesturing him to not do anything.
"What do you mean?" Dorrith asked and I sighed.
"I’m sent by Lord D’Arc." I announced and Dorrith looked hopeful.
"Y-You’re here to help me then!"
"No, I’m here to screw you." I corrected making him look confused.
"Our Lord had made a deal to expose the Temple with Sir Asher and His Grace," I announced making the blood to drain from Dorrith’s chubby face.
"Wh-What? But that’s-" Dorrith gasped.
"Our Lord doesn’t deal with the likes of you, be happy that the Dragon is merciful to let you all live because the High Priest confessed, if it weren’t for him then along with him you all would be burned at the stake."
Dorrith shuddered and the knights placed the cuffs on him before they ushered him and the others away.
Damon and Sir Asher walked up to me and I looked at them.
"What was that thing?" Asher asked.
"The Demon’s little trick to give me a headache." I answered making Asher gulp.
"He killed the Pope in such a gruesome way and then created that plague as a trick?" Damon spoke up and I looked at him.
"You have no idea what kind of shenanigans he’s pulled in the past." I sighed.
"Y-You are acquainted with him?" Asher asked.
"Yes, kind of. It seems like he was doing his best to hide before but now he’s exposed himself so, I did expect something like such scenes to come."
"M-May I ask what kind of things he had done before?"
"Hm... Kidnapped people, manipulated nobles into trying to tame the rogue shapeshifters. Tried to crush me under a mountain, created mutant shapeshifters and had them attack the villages, etc."
The two had quite looks on their faces while they listened.
"H-How did he manage to manipulate the nobles to tame the shapeshifters? Rogue ones at that, those are the most feral ones! And wait, where did this even happen?" Asher asked.
"In another country, you don’t need to know."
"And he tried to crush you under a mountain?" Damon cocked his brow.
"A demon is far more stronger than any human, Damon. There was a reason why the Dragons had descended to wipe out those abominations." I said.
He nodded in understanding while Asher asked me.
"What about those villages which were attacked by the waves of the mutant shapeshifters? How did he even make them?"
"He used his blood to corrupt them, and luckily, I had support at that time so, we managed to get by without much casualties." I said as I looked around at the people who were still around.
"His blood... That’s disgusting." Asher grimaced.
"By support, do you mean other Dragons?" Damon asked.
"No, humans who were capable of dealing with shapeshifters." I said and spotted the girl who I was looking for.
"Are there humans who are strong enough for that?" Asher asked but I ignored him as I walked towards her.
"Where are you..." Asher asked before he saw the girl.
"Oh..." He sighed.
I walked up to the girl who was talking with the other Healers, I wasn’t sure but I still thought she might be the one.
"Miss Lisana?" I called and the said girl turned her head to look at me.
Her beautiful bluish green eyes met with mine and she tucked a strand of her grayish brown hair behind her ear as she gave me a small smile.
"Yes?"
I sighed as I had it right and I gestured over. She seemed a bit confused but she walked up to me.
"You... are the daughter of the leader of the boulder crest’s Poras and Lady Tanya, right?" I asked and her eyes went wide.
"Y-You know my parents!" She beamed hopefully before gripping my arms.
Her eyes glowed and I smiled, this child had been away from her home for so long.
"I’m an attendant of the Saintess. She had rested at the tribe on her journey and she had pleasant memories of her stay so, she wanted to repay the favour by sending you back to them safely."
Her eyes grew teary as she heard that and I placed my hand over her shoulder.
"They’ve been waiting for you, Miss Lisana. Please return home." I said.
Once I was done seeing Lisana, I walked back to Asher, Damon was busy talking to the Royal Knights. I had also spotted the flag of the Lewinstein family so, I knew someone of that family must also be here. Most probably, Alan if not the Count himself.
"He’s quite a commanding presence," Asher commented looking at Damon.
"Are you purposely trying to avoid them?" I asked and Asher looked at me.
"What?"
I sighed as I decided to not pry further but he was a valuable fighter, with properly training he could be a good asset for me.
"I-I’m not the one to pry," I started and he looked at me with a quizzical gaze.
"But, if you don’t have a home here then you’re welcome to tag along."
"With you?" Asher asked.
"Yes,"
His eyes glowed a bit before he asked, "W-Will Miss Mirielle be with you as well?"
I stared at him for a moment, he was too much in love that I was feeling pitiful.
"You know what? I’ll arrange your meeting with her once this ends." I said and he beamed.
"Thank you, Lo-Master!" He grinned making me roll my eyes.
The people in love were the fools who were best left alone.
