Chapter 225: 224. Two Sides Of The Same Coin(1)

I walked out into the garden and felt the fresh and cool air welcome me. The aftereffect of the storm was still in the air and I wondered what it would be like if I did let a storm loose in this place.

I strolled around the garden until I found a gazebo and sat down watching the flower beds and colorful butterflies. It was quite a beautiful and peaceful scenery for me who had seen a lot of distressed and plague infected people.

I wondered if Lyall and others were doing their work properly and if they were all right or not.

After a couple of minutes of me sitting there, Nina came looking for me.

"My Lady!" She huffed as she doubled over and I wondered if she had ran all across the entire manor looking for me.

"Are you all right?" I asked placing my hand over Nina’s shoulder and she nodded as she breathed deeply.

"I-I wanted to tell you something!" She said and I smiled.

"Yes, what is it?"

"That... Young Master... Um... He sent a message saying that he might not be able to return from the Temple today so, you should have dinner and rest." She spoke hesitantly and I looked down feigning disappointment.

"P-Please don’t feel so disheartened, My Lady. Young Master is caught up with something that’s why he couldn’t make it today." She tried making amends and I looked at her.

"Did something happen at the Temple? I mean, to need Sir Asher’s presence... Is it something serious?" I asked.

I knew fully well what the reason was but I wanted to hear what kind of story the people were spinning.

"Well..." She seemed reluctant and I looked away.

"I-It’s fine if you don’t want to tell..." I said and she looked at me.

"Ah, that’s not-"

"I can understand..." I smiled and she groaned looking as if she would pull her hair out before she sighed loudly.

"I’ll tell you," she said and met my gaze.

"The-The thing is, in afternoon there was a parade in the town center where the Saint was going to bless the commoners," she started and I nodded listening attentively.

"But somehow, the Saint was attacked by an unknown assailant. The strangest part was that he appeared out of nowhere and he was also capable of flying!"

I gasped loudly with my eyes going wide and she nodded, "That assailant was quite strong one, he even made the carriage on which the Saint was explode before attempting to take him away."

"Oh my, Goddess! Then, is the Saint-"

"No, no," Nina smiled, "He couldn’t take our Saint because Sir Asher and other Templar knights were there along with the High Priest!"

So, the old man was probably the High Priest.

"Sir Asher and the other knights overpowered that assailant and made him flee and rescued the Saint!"

She grinned widely making me sigh with relief.

"But there was another big thing that happened," she said and I leaned in, all ears.

"The assailant shattered the King’s statue and miraculously, the statue of Saintess was safe. It was as if the faith protected even the statues of our Saintess and the Dragon!"

I almost chuckled as I realised that in my hurry of trying to protect the people and making sense of the chaos, I ended up shattering the King’s statue and saved the Saintess’s statue.

"It’s a miracle, isn’t it? I’m sure it was the Saint who with his Holy power protected the desecration of the Saintess’s statue!" Nina said excitedly and I nodded along.

"Yes, yes! I’m sure!"

She grinned back and I couldn’t help but ask, "So, did they catch him? The assailant, I mean?"

Her grin dwindled, "No, but I’m sure Sir Asher and the Templar knights will surely catch him soon! How dare he attack our precious Saint!"

I nodded and asked, "Have they found out who sent him?"

Nina shrugged, "We don’t know who it was. And I don’t know if, Sir Asher or others know who that person was. But I’m sure he will be found soon! He broke the King’s statue, after all!"

That was to save the people, Nina...

"Anyways, please come back, My Lady. It’ll get chilly soon outside." Nina smiled.

Someone should really give me an Oscar for the acting I was doing here.

I walked back with her while wondering what the King would be thinking right now and what ripple effect my today’s actions would have caused. I just hope it wouldn’t create a big wave for me.

I ate dinner alone with the maids accompanying me and then returned to my room.

I had to wait for some time to start my work so, I took that time to lay in my bed and go through the scenarios of what I was going to do again. But strangely enough, I recalled the face of the Saint kid, he had a strangely faint mana presence. I had assumed that if that kid was a Saint then he would have a pronounced presence and strong mana but, he was quite contrary to what I imagined.

He recognised me in an instant, just like the elves and the dwarves so, he might have some awareness but for him to have such faint mana presence was quite odd. Not to forget, I also was full visible to everyone even after I had activated my invisibility spell while being in contact with the Saint.

"Does he have some strange power that cancels the mana spells?" I wondered aloud.

But why was he asking me to not leave? Did he think I was a Dragon came to deliver this nation or something?

Well, he wasn’t technically wrong but, it was still quite strange for him to cry like that when I was leaving.

It almost made me feel guilty.

I sighed and kept tossing and turning in my bed before I sat up looking at the clock which showed that it was past midnight.

I walked over and locked the doors of my room from inside before I closed the windows and pulled the curtains.

I grabbed the communication device first and connected to Lyall.

"Lyall?" I spoke up.

"Master!" His reply almost came in an instant.

"Are you in the place that I asked you to be at?" I asked.

"Yes, Master."

"Good, do you have it with you?" I asked.

"Yes, Master."

"Good, I’ll be there."

I reverted to my Ocean’s male form and put on a mask and adjusted my cloak properly over my shoulders and hood over my head. I activated the Teleportation spell through the device that was connected to Lyall’s device.

The beam of light forced my eyes to squint before it dimmed and I blinked looking around at the room where I had reached.

"Master?" I turned and looked at Lyall who stood a few feet away.

"How are you?" I asked.

"I’m well, Master."

"Call him," I ordered before I walked over and sat down in my chair as Lyall briskly left the room.

I was expecting Lyall to be staying in a smaller and less grand room but I guess my intimidation was enough for the Duke to grant him a good room.

After a couple of minutes, I heard two sets of footsteps approaching the room and soon they were in front of me.

Lyall walked over and stood beside me while Damon stood in front of me.

"Master..." He spoke and I looked at him.

He was dressed in his silk pajamas with a robe.

"Did I wake you from your beauty sleep, Damon?" I asked and he cleared his throat.

"No, Master."

I smiled, "Well, how are the things on your end?"

"They are going as you want."

"Hm?" I stood up making him flinch.

*I heard the Saint was under attack this afternoon during his parade." I said as I placed around the room looking at the trinkets.

"I-I have no idea of who that person was, Master," Damon said.

"I’m not talking about the person who grabbed the Saint. I’m talking about the explosives." I clarified.

"Explosives?"

"Yes, there were seven of them that were found on the scene and one more, that was on the carriage." I said making the blood drain from his face.

"Was it your work?" I asked.

"N-No, Master."

"Really?"

"I really didn’t do it!" He shook his head as he took a step back and I sighed.

"All right, it you didn’t do it."

He sighed deeply placing his hand over his heart.

"But if you or any of the nobles tried to hurt that kid then," I looked at him feeling my Dragon’s Presence whipping around me like a maelstrom and he flinched stepping back.

"I-I won’t!" He said bringing his hands up, "And, I-I’ll tell the other nobles as well."

I eyed him carefully and he gulped. I saw his fingers trembling and his pupils quivering before I retracted my Dragon’s Presence.

"Good," I spoke before I walked over and sat down on the chair.

"I-I also don’t know about that man. I-I don’t know who it was or who sent him so, please-"

"Don’t worry about him, that was me." I said waving my hand making his jaw drop.
