Chapter 746: Chapter 748: The Little Girl Faints, Lin Fei’s Heart Aches

"I will, Director."

Lin Fei gave an affirmative answer to the orphanage director who had raised Ling Weiwei, the beautiful minister. In fact, even if the orphanage director had not spoken those words to him, pleading with Lin Fei to provide a home for Ling Weiwei as soon as possible, Lin Fei would never have let Ling Weiwei down.

It had nothing to do with who asked or didn’t ask, nor did it have anything to do with the boundless pity that Lin Fei felt for the woman upon learning her life story after coming to the orphanage.

In Lin Fei’s case, everything he did for Ling Weiwei was based on his sincere love for her.

If it weren’t for love, Lin Fei would never have accompanied the woman "back to her mother’s house." Similarly, out of love, Lin Fei needed no special reminders to provide Ling Weiwei with the warmth of a family.

This was Lin Fei’s responsibility, and he would fulfill it.

"With you saying that, Mr. Lin, I feel at ease. Weiwei has been like a child I’ve watched grow up. Among their group of orphans, she’s the only one who still comes back regularly to visit me and bring things for the children. Now that I think about it, I actually didn’t give her much extra care when she was young. Over the years, what she has done for the orphanage far exceeds the care I gave her."

Upon hearing Lin Fei’s comforting promise, the orphanage director mused to himself for a moment while gazing at Ling Weiwei, who was playing with a group of children in the courtyard.

The orphanage director shifted his gaze from Ling Weiwei back to Lin Fei and said, "Mr. Lin, I’ve said something to Weiwei before. But she has a heart too kind and didn’t take my words to heart. So now, I want to say it to you, Mr. Lin, and I hope you can help persuade Weiwei."

"Please speak, Director."

"It’s not really a big deal. It’s just that over the years, I’ve accepted too many donations from Weiwei. Before, when Weiwei was on her own, I could accept them with a bad conscience. But now that Weiwei is with you, I can no longer in good conscience keep accepting her donations."

As the director spoke, he noticed Lin Fei wanting to interject but gestured with his hand to stop him and continued, "Please let me finish, Mr. Lin. I understand Weiwei’s intentions, and I truly do. But understanding aside, I can’t let my issues here delay the life between the two of you."

"Mr. Lin may not know this, but this orphanage has been around for nearly thirty years. Over these thirty years, I’ve sent off batch after batch of orphans. If I could, I really would like to do it for another thirty years. However, my health is no longer permitting it. From the past two years, I’ve started to feel somewhat overwhelmed. During this time, I’ve also been trying to find kind families to adopt these children, so that if one day I’m really unable, there would be someone to look after them."

After a long gaze at the children playing with Ling Weiwei in the courtyard, the orphanage director let out a sigh, "One gets more sentimental with age. I hope Mr. Lin won’t think ill of me. I don’t mean anything else by saying this. I just want to ask Mr. Lin to persuade Weiwei not to spend any more money on me and these children. You two should start thinking more about your own future life."

"If it were anything else, I would definitely promise you, Director, and try to persuade Weiwei. But on this matter, I can’t make you that promise." Lin Fei, shaking his head to decline the director’s earnest request, glanced at Ling Weiwei who was playing with the children in the courtyard, smiled, and said, "On this matter, I support Weiwei’s decision. I didn’t know before that Weiwei grew up here, and I haven’t been able to contribute anything to this place. From now on, I’d like to join Weiwei in coming over regularly to buy gifts for these children and spend time with them."

Lin Fei’s decision was partly due to his affection for Ling Weiwei, and partly due to his pity and love for the children.

And a greater part of the reason was his hope to find Little Tiger’s daughter as soon as possible.

In the past, Lin Fei did perform charitable deeds but mostly donated money and goods through the Hell’s Judgement Organization. This was, however, his first time personally visiting an orphanage.

Nevertheless, even though it was his first time, it didn’t impede Lin Fei’s pity and fondness for these orphans.

Watching the children playing with Ling Weiwei, the beautiful minister in the courtyard, Lin Fei couldn’t help but think of Little Tiger’s daughter whose whereabouts are unknown.

Therefore, just out of the sentiment for Little Tiger’s daughter, Lin Fei was also determined to fully support Ling Weiwei, the beautiful minister’s donations to the orphanage.

"Ah, Mr. Lin, what should I say to you?" Originally, the idea was to plead with Lin Fei to advise Ling Weiwei, the beautiful minister, not to continue spending on her and the orphanage. Unexpectedly, Lin Fei seemed to vaguely exhibit the intention of becoming the second Ling Weiwei.

For a moment, the director of the orphanage couldn’t help but feel a profound sense of emotion.

It took some time for the director of the orphanage to calm the excitement in his heart, and then, with a melancholic voice, he said to Lin Fei, "Mr. Lin, you, you really leave me at a loss for words. If Weiwei doesn’t heed my advice, that’s one thing, but now Mr. Lin, you—"

"Ah—"

"Chu Si has fainted, Chu Si has fainted—"

"Director, Director—"

...

Just as the director of the orphanage intended to advise Lin Fei again, the courtyard that was previously filled with laughter and joy suddenly was overwhelmed by various shouts of alarm.

Some children who were originally gathered around Ling Weiwei, the beautiful minister, continued to huddle around her, while others ran toward Lin Fei and the director of the orphanage, shouting.

"This child’s regular low blood sugar is acting up again..."

While a few children were running toward her, shouting, the director of the orphanage murmured anxiously and got up to go outside quickly.

And, from among the clamoring voices of the children, Lin Fei, who had quickly discerned the gravity of the situation, didn’t hesitate much. He stood up as the director of the orphanage did and casually walked into the courtyard.

Although Lin Fei stood up later, due to his swift pace, he reached Ling Weiwei, the beautiful minister, before the director of the orphanage.

Thus, Lin Fei also saw clearly the girl, about two or three years old, who had fainted in Ling Weiwei’s arms. Upon seeing the girl, for some inexplicable reason, Lin Fei felt a sudden pang of pain in his heart...
