Chapter 643: Chapter 645: Replace You
Since it was late and the area was not well-developed, there were very few pedestrians and vehicles.
Lin Fei immediately spotted two luxury cars parked next to an open-air seafood restaurant by the roadside, one of which was Mu Shanshan’s Porsche.
He drove over, parked, got out of the car, and entered the restaurant. As expected, he saw Mu Shanshan and Fang Shaoyu sitting and talking together at a spot inside the restaurant, and they seemed to be in a harmonious atmosphere.
Lin Fei coughed and then sat down next to Mu Shanshan, quite presumptuously calling over the restaurant owner and ordering some food for himself.
“Mr. Luo arrived just in time,” Fang Shaoyu showed no discontent with Lin Fei’s sudden appearance, at least not on the surface. “After our group purchased this beach, we never developed it. The environment is nice, and the seafood, freshly caught by the local fishermen, tastes quite impressive.”
Lin Fei nodded — the flavor was indeed good, considering it was free.
“In fact, I invited Ms. Mu here today to let her see the scenery and taste the specialty seafood,” Fang Shaoyu said, reverting to business after some polite chatter, his expression turning somewhat grave. “I hope Ms. Mu would consider partnering with us to open a new resort using the Hyatt International Hotel’s name. Ms. Mu has been very busy, so I had to choose tonight to show her the location.”
After finishing his explanation, Fang Shaoyu smiled at Lin Fei as if to say, I’m not here to flirt with your wife; it’s just a business interaction, you can relax.
Although Lin Fei understood the purpose of Mu Shanshan’s and Fang Shaoyu’s visit, he still didn’t believe that Fang Shaoyu was as noble as he claimed, just doing business with Mu Shanshan.
Unaware of the silent tension, Mu Shanshan explained to Lin Fei, “Recently, I’ve been discussing this matter with Director Fang. Today was when I finally found time to see the place. I must say, this area indeed has great potential. Developing the tourism industry here could yield significant returns in the future.”
Mu Shanshan paused and turned to Fang Shaoyu, “Director Fang, I agree to collaborate with you. If you also agree, we can finalize the details at a meeting later on.”
“Great, I’ll get back to you after consulting my superiors. I hope we can enjoy a pleasant collaboration,” Fang Shaoyu stood up, straightened his jacket, and politely excused himself, “I’ll leave you two then.”
After he left the restaurant,
Lin Fei, having finished his grilled shrimp, spoke cautiously, “Wife, once this business negotiation is over, try not to interact with Fang Shaoyu. If business issues truly cannot be avoided, have someone represent you in discussions.”
“I think Mr. Fang is quite nice, though. Why do you seem to dislike him?” Considering the favorable terms Fang Shaoyu offered beforehand, Mu Shanshan actually had a reasonably good impression of him.
“It’s a man’s intuition.” Unable to share his suspicions with Mu Shanshan, Lin Fei made an excuse, “My intuition tells me Fang Shaoyu is using business as a pretext to hit on you. So, unless you want to make me jealous, it would be better if you didn’t see him.”
“If you really think so, then I—” Mu Shanshan purposely dragged out her words before suddenly switching directions, “should actually see him more often.”
“Why?!” Lin Fei exclaimed in surprise, visibly displeased, “We are married; aren’t you afraid of making me jealous?”
“It’s rare that you remember we’re married,” Mu Shanshan slightly distanced herself from Lin Fei, her expression cooling as she spoke, “How come you never considered this when you were with Director Shen?”
“…That’s different,” Lin Fei replied awkwardly, adding, “You know what Xuanxuan is like, but Fang Shaoyu is different—you’ve only known him for a few days. There are other five-star hotels in Jiangdong, not just the Hyatt. Haven’t you thought about why he specifically approached you?”
“Because both I and the Hyatt are outstanding,” Mu Shanshan said confidently, leaving Lin Fei temporarily unable to respond.
Unable to refute her, he conceded that in the entire luxury hotel industry in Jiangdong, both the Hyatt International Hotel and Mu Shanshan were indeed excellent—excellent beyond reproach.
“From an economic perspective, this collaboration would be all gain and no loss for us,” Mu Shanshan mused, elegantly continuing her meal while casually explaining, “But precisely because it seems so beneficial, I’ve become suspicious of Fang Shaoyu. Often, the more perfect a partnership appears, the more likely it conceals some unspoken motives.”
“Hearing you say that makes me feel relieved.”
Seeing Mu Shanshan maintaining a wise and autonomous demeanor, Lin Fei silently sighed in relief and promptly began—an aggressive attack on the seafood.
