The King of Urban Mercenaries -
Chapter 585 - 585 585
585: 585 585: 585 Night.
At the residence of Lin Fei and Mu Shanshan.
Purple Garden Pavilion.
The living room on the first floor.
“Miss, it’s so late, why haven’t you gone upstairs to rest?” Aunt Lan, advanced in years and accustomed to early bedtimes, woke up for a restroom visit and saw Mu Shanshan, the frosty CEO, still curled up on the sofa watching television.
Knowing full well of Mu Shanshan’s early morning jogging habit, Aunt Lan couldn’t help but approach the woman with a touch of concern.
“Ah?
Oh, I, I rather like this show, got a bit engrossed in it.
I’ll head up now.” Mu Shanshan, who appeared to be watching TV but was in fact lost in thought, hadn’t noticed Aunt Lan’s approach until she spoke up.
Caught off guard, Mu Shanshan’s exquisitely beautiful face showed a hint of panic as she responded.
Then, not giving Aunt Lan a chance to ask further, Mu Shanshan, the icy CEO, walked upstairs with measured steps, her crystal slippers tapping gently against the floor.
“Master is clearly at home, so why does the miss choose to watch television in the living room?
Could it be that they’ve argued again?
But that shouldn’t be.
They were fine during dinner.
After eating, they even watched TV together in the living room.
How could they have fallen out in such a short time?”
Aunt Lan could sense that Mu Shanshan, the frosty CEO, was troubled.
After Mu Shanshan had gone upstairs, Aunt Lan voiced her concerns to herself, quite worried.
Knowing that night was not the right time to inquire into the concerns between Mu Shanshan and Lin Fei, Aunt Lan shook her head, suppressing the anxiety she felt for their marital affection.
After using the restroom, she paused beside the staircase.
Hearing no signs of argument from Mu Shanshan and Lin Fei upstairs, Aunt Lan then turned back to her room.
The master bedroom on the second floor.
Mu Shanshan’s own room, to be precise.
“Should I go down?”
After being prompted by Aunt Lan’s inquiry and returning to her bedroom from the living room, Mu Shanshan lay on her bed, furrowed brows and biting her lip, murmuring to herself.
There was a distinct sense of tossing and turning.
From Mu Shanshan’s murmured self-talk, one could roughly guess that the reason for her restlessness was pondering whether to go downstairs or not.
Of course, going downstairs was not because she wanted to watch TV.
Though, Mu Shanshan, the frozen CEO, did have a quite special affection for dramas.
But with her usually aloof nature, the true cause of her insomnia, the thing that kept her awake and restless at night,
was indeed only two matters.
Well, to be exact, one matter and one person.
The development of Mu Group and Lin Fei.
Between the two, Mu Group’s development was originally more significant than Lin Fei.
However, as Mu Shanshan, the icy CEO, and Lin Fei, her nominal husband, spent more time together,
Lin Fei’s importance in Mu Shanshan’s heart gradually matched and even slightly surpassed that of Mu Group’s development.
Now, with Mu Group taking over Fangxing Group and forming an alliance with the ravishing CEO Su Qinglan’s Red Valley Group, obtaining substantial enterprise support funds from the Zhonghai City Council,
Mu Group could be said to have entered a period of rapid development.
Not long ago, during a senior management meeting at the company, Mu Shanshan, the frosty CEO, had announced the expansion of the group’s international business—a testament to Mu Group’s rapid growth.
—
Such was the case that only Lin Fei could cause Mu Shanshan, the “iceberg CEO,” to toss and turn late into the night, unable to sleep.
Even going as far as to stake out the living room.
Of course, this is not to say that Mu Shanshan, the “iceberg CEO,” was upset simply because of Lin Fei – her bargain of a husband.
Before going upstairs, his comment about wanting to see her undressed, and inviting her to take off his clothes, certainly played on her mind.
Although, due to Lin Fei’s flirtatious remark, Mu Shanshan, the “iceberg CEO,” must have felt somewhat indignant.
But, after all, they had been cohabiting for such a long time.
Having been teased by Lin Fei, her bargain husband, and even been indecently approached by him not just once or twice, Mu Shanshan, the “iceberg CEO,” even though she was annoyed, obviously wouldn’t stubbornly stay in the living room, waiting for Lin Fei, her bargain husband, to fall asleep so she could strip off his clothes.
With Mu Shanshan’s cool and aloof nature, it’s clear that she simply wouldn’t do such a thing.
Thus, the most plausible explanation for Mu Shanshan, the “iceberg CEO,” guarding the living room so late at night, could only be that she was on guard due to two phone calls Lin Fei took during dinner, fearing that Lin Fei might leave the Purple Garden Pavilion villa in her sleep to secretly meet a lover.
Just as Mu Shanshan, the “iceberg CEO,” had said to Lin Fei before.
In the past, what she didn’t know didn’t bother her.
However, now that she had developed feelings for Lin Fei and was aware that Lin Fei had plans with another woman, she naturally felt the need to be cautious about Lin Fei, her bargain husband with a history of running around.
“Forget it, I shouldn’t go downstairs.
Anyway, if he opens the door, I’m sure I’ll hear it.”
After much internal struggle, deciding whether to go downstairs to the living room to stake out Lin Fei, her bargain husband, Mu Shanshan was eventually persuaded by the concern that Aunt Lan might leave the bedroom again to use the restroom, and thus she opted to stay in the bedroom instead.
“Lin Fei, you’d better keep your word!
If you dare let me down, I won’t be nice to you!”
Having persuaded herself to stay in the bedroom, Mu Shanshan hugged her beloved beige teddy bear tightly and seriously threatened Lin Fei through it.
The feeling, the tone, made it seem as though it wasn’t the beige teddy bear that had been with her since childhood that she was holding.
But rather Lin Fei, her bargain husband, who might sneak off to meet a lover once she fell asleep.
Creak!
Just as Mu Shanshan, the “iceberg CEO,” was issuing threats to Lin Fei via her beloved beige teddy bear that had kept her company for many years,
a fairly clear sound of a door opening reached her ears from outside.
Initially, clutching her beloved beige teddy bear and ready to feign sleep, Mu Shanshan instantly snapped to alertness.
Without saying a word, she threw away the teddy bear that had been with her for many years, didn’t even bother to put on her crystal flip-flops, and barefoot, she quickly trotted out of the bedroom.
Bang!
Anxious and eager to stop Lin Fei, her bargain husband, from sneaking off to meet his lover, Mu Shanshan ended up bumping into Lin Fei, who was only in boxer shorts, coming out of the bedroom to go to the restroom.
Even though she bumped into Lin Fei and felt a bit of a headache, Mu Shanshan, worried that Lin Fei, her bargain husband, might run away, still forcefully endured the pain and almost subconsciously grabbed onto Lin Fei’s boxer shorts.
“Lin Fei, don’t—”
“What do you mean, ‘don’t’?
Why are you running around in the middle of the night—Mu Shanshan!
You actually mean to undress me?!”
Surprised to be bumped into by Mu Shanshan, his CEO wife, Lin Fei felt her grab his boxer shorts and couldn’t help his face darkening as he recalled the threats she had made before heading upstairs to sleep…
