The Invincible Full-Moon System -
Chapter 1593: Rewarding Stunt
Chapter 1593: Rewarding Stunt
Abras stood motionless.
Around him was chaos—the discord of screams and panic.
He could attempt to organize the people, help them flee effectively to save as many lives as possible, but the descent of the Black Rift taught him that the primal instinct to survive would always prevail in a situation such as this.
Nobody would listen to him.
It was true that he was their leader, but he was no general or a respected hero.
His voice is not loud enough to overtake the survival instinct.
Even so, it doesn’t mean he was abandoning his people.
On the contrary, he will help them, do something, no matter how small the impact may be.
Abras leaped off the monolith, toward the charging monstrosity.
His body trembled as he passed through the barrier, landing outside beyond its safety, swallowed by the darkness of the Black Rift. Danger pressed in from all sides, and the pressure coming from ahead was enormous, yet he didn’t flinch.
A Voidal Monarch could crush him like an ant—and still, he stood.
Success was not the point.
As long as he tries, that’s all that matters.
Fulfilling his duty was all that mattered.
"If the village falls today, it will also be my grave. So be it."
A ranseur with a long handle was drawn.
Abras summoned his Soul Artifact, held it with both hands in front of him, and closed his eyes.
Despite being outranked by the incoming monstrosity, he stood strong like a warlord.
Once he opened his eyes again, his attachment to the world disappeared.
Now, he was ready to meet his end.
Swish!
Expertly, he spun the gleaming yellow ranseur and got into his battle stance.
Both hands were placed at eye-level, pointing the ranseur’s crescent-shaped cross hilt forward.
Ahead, the sound of pouring rain and thunder crackled.
Underneath him, the ground was shaking hard.
However, neither of these warnings wavers Abras’ will.
In fact, it made him more resolved than ever.
Crash!
As Abras was about to charge forward, into the eye of the storm where the Voidal Monarch was located, he stopped when a shadow fell from above. It landed a few paces right in front of him with a dull thud, catching him off guard.
"Release me now, Davina!! Or you’ll watch me die without being able to fight!"
Tilting down, Abras realized that it was Rex.
He seemed to be bound by something as there was light coming from his open wound.
Not to mention, he was very angry.
Raising his gaze skyward, Abras saw Princess Davina riding Esmeravon above—looking like she just swallowed something bitter. He frowned, surprised to see the Graceful Starfall here. It was unmistakable with her riding Esmeravon.
Practically every single person in the empire knew her and Esmeravon.
’But what is she doing here...?’
Abras frowned.
He didn’t understand why Princess Davina was here right now, at this moment.
Perhaps she was around and noticed the Voidal Monarch.
But Abras quickly scratched that from his mind as Princess Davina didn’t seem to be here to help.
Then, he looked down at Rex.
’Is he somehow connected to Princess Davina?’ Abras sucked in a cold breath—he knew Rex must be someone important since Duke Lorcan’s name didn’t scare him, but he wasn’t expecting this. ’I heard the princess has accepted a man into her heart, don’t tell me...’
"If you don’t let me go, my death will be in your hands!"
Rex’s voice thundered again.
Even with the roaring sound of the lightning strikes and the pouring rain—his mighty voice was able to reach far. And as expected, the starlight was pulled back. Rex has given Princess Davina no other choice but to release him.
"I tried stopping you, but you insist on death. You’re a fool, Rex Silverstar."
As soon as Princess Davina said that, she flew higher to avoid the Voidal Monarch’s senses.
Rex climbed back to his feet and glared ahead with bulging crimson eyes.
I have to face it head-on.
Since he couldn’t grab Kaelthar and leave the village, Rex had no choice but to face the Voidal Monarch head-on. Even without Princess Davina interfering, he would probably still end up in this situation, as there was no other choice.
He was worried.
Scared even.
Especially knowing what he had to lose.
But he didn’t purchase an item to help him break free from Princess Davina to get here without a plan.
System, the Invincible II item’s reservoir is still in me, right?
<Correct.>
<But be advised, it couldn’t be activated manually. It would only come out if it sensed the user couldn’t survive the incoming attack.>
It doesn’t matter. I know this thing ahead of me is something I can’t survive against.
From behind, Abras approached him.
"What are you going to do? Do you have a death wish?" He walked past Rex to face—the approaching catastrophe. "I don’t know what you are thinking, but you should leave while you have the chance. You have no debt to this village."
Before he could raise his Soul Artifact, Rex had already grabbed his shoulder and yanked him back.
Abras fell from the forceful pull, surprised.
"Stay there," Rex said, walking straight into the eye of the storm calmly. "You’ll only get in the way."
Rex’s back disappeared inside the storm.
He kept walking forward as the wind howled like a thousand screaming voices, its blackened gales were rushing against him with the weight of curses. Each step forward was a battle—air thick with malice, dragging at his limbs, trying to push him back.
But he pressed on, muscles coiled and bulged with purpose—his stride relentless.
Rain fell in sheets of black, slick, and corrosive.
Each drop hissed against his skin, eating away at flesh in bursts of smoke and pain.
But his body regenerated almost as fast as it was torn apart.
It was the combined effect of his Werewolf blood and the Kraken’s presence within him.
She shouldn’t be able to see me, right? There’s no point in staying in this form.
Assuming that Princess Davina was too high above to avoid being sensed by the Voidal Monarch, Rex decided to let loose. His body began to crack and twist, shaping him into something more monstrous, more animal, more terrifying.
Seamlessly, his body transformed from human to full Werewolf in mere seconds.
His curving horns crowned his head like a twisted diadem.
His steel-black claws armed him with natural blades, each one forged solely for killing.
Rex’s aura surged to a higher degree, one that made it impossible to trust that he was someone who had only broken through to the Master Immortal Spirit rank. Even Abras, who was rooted on his spot, could see a flicker of energy sizzling within the storm.
One that he was sure was to come from Rex.
Crack!
Lightning tore across the sky again and again—violent, white-hot veins slashing through storm clouds.
It was as if the heavens were trying to cauterize the wound that had birthed this chaos.
Each flash revealed a glimpse more terrible than the last.
As the quake reached its peak, Rex finally saw it.
A bolt struck, illuminating the storm for a breathless instant—and within that flash, a shadow loomed.
Immense.
Unnatural.
A titan of scale and sinew with no legs, no wings—only coils of power thicker than towers and longer than rivers. A dragon, twisted into the form of a serpent. A lizard of nightmare, stripped of elegance and built only for destruction.
Its glowing eyes cut through the darkness like twin lanterns from the abyss.
And with every heartbeat, the silhouette grew larger.
Rex stopped, a frown forming on his face.
That’s not a Voidal Monarch... I’ve seen this thing before.
For a moment, Rex tried to recall where he had seen this dragon serpent.
Staying for years in the Forsaken Tower made his memories before that blurry, hard to recall.
However, this thing was hard to forget.
Right... Isn’t this the Voidal Prince that Davina fought? Why is it here?
Rex was confused.
Clearly, the effect surrounding the Black Rift signaled the approach of a Voidal Monarch as only that level of being could create this much chaos, yet it was the dragon snake that lurked within the heart of the storm.
And besides, if it truly were the dragon snake, Princess Davina would never have mistaken its aura.
She would not mistake it for something else.
Rex didn’t quite understand what was going on, but this was a good development.
A Voidal Prince is a lot easier to deal with.
Of course, he would still need to use the reservoir from the Invincible II item to deal with it.
Rex readied himself.
He didn’t blink.
He didn’t flinch.
Instead, he anchored his feet against the howling earth.
Rex’s eyes shimmered as he opened his mouth and unleashed an overbearing howl that spread far.
Roar!!
HISS!!
A malevolent hiss thundered as the dragon snake answered in retaliation.
Then, it opened its maw to swallow Rex whole.
Despite the open maw, Rex crouched low and launched himself straight into the monster’s path.
A streak of defiance against the storm.
Gulp!
Rex was entirely swallowed as the dragon snake kept going forward, thinking that it was the end of him as the acid in its mouth would be more than enough to handle—such a small fry. But a second later, its slitted eyes dilated.
Something was filling and heating its inside.
Kaboom!
A sudden explosion burned its stomach.
It was filled with an enormous amount of power—that even the shockwave it created cleared the black rain and the rushing black wind for a few seconds. More importantly, the explosion knocked the dragon snake off its path.
Despite possessing the aura that could crush the world and a body harder than the hardest material in the entire realm, the dragon snake was pushed away, rolling and skidding across the ground hard, causing the earthquake to heighten.
On the other hand, Rex emerged from its mouth once again.
His gleaming eyes were opened wide, checking whether that was enough to scare the dragon snake.
It was burnt inside out. And though it was brief, the shock should be able to paralyze it.
Rex was confident in that blast.
The Invincible II item has always been his trump card, and he has absolute confidence in it.
Even though he couldn’t use it to kill, he could bypass its limitation like this.
An explosion of energy inside the dragon snake’s body is lethal, even for the likes of a Voidal Prince.
Rex landed on the ground and peered ahead.
He saw that the dragon snake’s maw was broken, and its eyes dimmed.
Just that alone showed that it was dead, but Rex got even more confirmation through the System.
<Killed a Voidal Prince, the user has obtained a significant amount of exp and gold!>
<Obtained 5 million gold!>
<Level up!>
<Level up!>
<Lev...>
<Congratulations, the user has reached level 60!>
<For reaching level 60 in the user’s spirit body, the user obtained 1x Devour and 1x Law Clarity!>
<Nemesis of the Monarch achievement has been completed!>
<Obtained Matter of Monarch and 50 million gold!>
Rex was surprised to see notifications flooding his vision.
He was expecting to kill the dragon snake with his stunt, but he wasn’t expecting the System to reward him this much, as using the Invincible II item like this might go against its feature. As a matter of fact, Rex was anticipating being given a penalty.
But these rewards are very much welcomed.
"Killing it gave me almost 10 levels, incredible..."
Just as he was reveling in the moment, his eyes widened when he remembered something.
"Wait... Didn’t that thing have a way to resurrect?!"
Rex recalled its fight against Princess Davina and remembered that it could resurrect.
And true enough, he caught sight of the dragon snake blinking its eyes, and turned to look at him.
Seeing this, Rex’s expression paled as he had no more reservoir.
"Fuck, it’s going to kill me!"
Rex was about to turn and run away, drawing it away from Lorayah Village.
But the moment he did that, his ears perked up.
He saw something emerging from within the dragon snake.
It was the Voidal Monarch, and it was looking straight at him.
