Chapter 36: Chapter 33: Alone in an Empty Room

The classroom seemed to have been swept by a cold wind, chilling to the bone.

Qiao Yuxian stood at the doorway, looking down at Jiang Shouzhuo, listening to his insults.

Her kick was controlled and wouldn’t cause him any real harm.

Jiang Shouzhuo cursed a couple of times, grabbed a nearby upright chair to stand up: "Qiao Yuxian, do you know who I am? I could make the Qiao Family disappear from this world in a matter of minutes."

"You can try." Qiao Yuxian said, staring at him.

The fear she instilled in Jiang Shouzhuo’s heart was stronger than his anger at this moment, turning into vile words: "On this matter, you’re not as smart as Qiao Lech. She knows how to use her advantages to please men, to climb up by leveraging her strengths."

Qiao Yuxian squinted her eyes slightly.

Jiang Shouzhuo, seeing her expression, suddenly felt a burst of satisfaction, speaking even more maliciously: "Do you know what Qiao Lech looks like when she sees me? Submissive and joyful, like a dog wagging its tail, waiting for me to sleep with her, to have her..."

Qiao Yuxian loosened her fingers, and the book in her hand fell to the ground.

As it hit the ground with a soft thud, her fist smashed into Jiang Shouzhuo’s face with a muffled sound.

Jiang Shouzhuo’s words were cut off, and he stumbled sideways for two steps, pushing the table away with a sharp sound.

He was stunned for a second, then turned around to retaliate.

Qiao Yuxian caught his wrist, twisted it forcefully, causing him to turn around in pain: "Qiao Yuxian!"

As his voice fell, Qiao Yuxian kicked at the back of his knee. Jiang Shouzhuo suddenly dropped to one knee, his body lowered.

At the same time, Qiao Yuxian pushed his head onto the table with one hand and lifted a chair with the other, raising it and smashing it down hard.

Jiang Shouzhuo was still struggling, but when he saw the chair coming down, he was so scared he lost his voice, tightly closing his eyes.

The chair, carried by the wind, came down suddenly.

Cracks appeared on the desk, and there was a dent in the chair leg.

Jiang Shouzhuo’s eardrums were throbbing with pain.

His entire body went limp, unable to exert any strength. After a while, he opened his eyes, realizing the chair had hit the desk in front of him, not touching him.

He started gasping for breath, feeling as if he’d had a brush with death.

Qiao Yuxian’s voice was light, like a sharp knife: "Watch your mouth. If you continue to speak so filthily of her affections, I’ll rip out your tongue."

Jiang Shouzhuo panted heavily, his throat seemingly sealed with fear, unable to make a sound.

"Young Master Jiang truly impressed me with the Jiang Family’s upbringing today." Qiao Yuxian’s expression was like looking at trash.

"Qiao Yuxian, I, I won’t let you get away with this." Jiang Shouzhuo, suddenly emboldened by mentioning the Jiang Family, spoke hoarsely, "The Jiang Family won’t let you get away with this."

"Alright then." Qiao Yuxian smiled lightly, raising her brows arrogantly, "I want to see what you can do to me. What the Jiang Family can do to me."

After speaking, she tossed aside the chair, let go of him, picked up the book on the ground, and walked out the door without looking back.

Jiang Shouzhuo slumped to the ground, his entire body aching, his face swollen, clothes drenched in sweat, looking utterly miserable.

He glared malevolently at the door, thinking silently: Qiao Yuxian, there will be a time when you will come crying and begging me.

...

After leaving the teaching building, Qiao Yuxian changed her mind and went back to the dormitory first.

In the dormitory, she used the computer to hack the surveillance of the teaching building, then changed clothes before going to the voiceover studio.

The voiceover studio was called YiYi Voiceover.

The name was casual, just meant to signify being the first.

Initially, she wanted to use Yiyi, but the name was already registered, so she changed two characters.

Qiao Yuxian founded it in her freshman year.

The reason for founding it was also rather casual.

In her major during her freshman year, there was a phonetics course.

A portion of the course grade came from a dubbing software. Most segments in the software were from foreign movies or cartoons.

They mimicked the original pronunciation, dubbing sentence by sentence, practicing oral skills.

Qiao Yuxian found both interest and talent, so she founded the studio.

The funding for the studio was half provided by her grandparents.

Qiao Yuxian even gave them shares.

Not only that, but Qiao Yuxian also set up equipment at her home in Yue City, involving her grandparents in recording.

For this studio, Qiao Yuxian had a unique attachment.

But later, due to a leave from school, she handed it over to someone else to manage.

At the studio, Qiao Yuxian first went to the office.

The office door opened, and Qiao Yuxian saw Shi Tan busy with work.

She was in casual business attire, her hair up.

Sitting upright, meticulous, her expression indifferent yet extremely focused.

The entire office exuded an air of "rigor."

This was the current manager of the studio—Shi Tan.

Hearing the sound, she looked towards the door.

With willow-like eyebrows, long eyes with upturned corners, her calm and steady expression carried a sense of prestige.

Qiao Yuxian smiled and entered the office: "Tan’er, long time no see, did you miss me?"

Shi Tan glanced at her, but did not engage in pleasantries. She just took a pile of notebooks from the corner of the desk, placed them in front of Qiao Yuxian, and said blandly: "Work."

Qiao Yuxian looked at the pile in front of her, the smile on her face instantly vanishing, incredulously looking at Shi Tan: "These... are all for me?"

"Yes." Shi Tan replied expressionlessly, "Everything is marked for you inside, including character traits, tone, pitch, mood, and required voice style... all need to be completed by Sunday."

"Those..." Shi Tan pointed to another pile, "are the workload for next week."

Qiao Yuxian followed her finger with her gaze, seeing the other pile, she coughed twice, her voice hoarse: "My throat suddenly doesn’t feel well. Cough cough, maybe you should find someone else. I might need to rest..."

Shi Tan seemed deaf and blind, saying, "Familiarize yourself, get ready to enter the booth."

Qiao Yuxian: "......"

"Coincidentally, all the voice directors are mine." Shi Tan said, "Let’s go together."

As she spoke, she picked up the notebook and headed out.

Qiao Yuxian watched her back, and a few seconds later, resignedly followed.

The workload was huge, and though Qiao Yuxian verbally declined, she worked seriously.

Meeting with Shi Tan, the two worked like maniacs.

Which is why...Qiao Yuxian ended up staying at the studio.

She attended classes during the day, went there whenever free, and slept there at night.

Except for Monday, the whole week, Qiao Yuxian’s chat logs with Gu Yanjing were like this.

Qiao Yuxian: [Not coming back tonight. Don’t wait for me for dinner.] With a cute emoji.

Gu Yanjing: [Mm.]

Qiao Yuxian: [Not coming back tonight.]

Gu Yanjing: [Mm.]

Qiao Yuxian: [Still not back.] With a tired puppy emoji.

Gu Yanjing: [Mm.]

Qiao Yuxian: [Not coming back.]

Gu Yanjing: [Mm.]

Each time, as soon as Gu Yanjing arrived at Fenglin Villa, he would receive Qiao Yuxian’s message.

If he returned late, Qiao Yuxian’s message would also come late, leaving him alone in the empty house of Fenglin Villa.

Although the house wasn’t as empty as before, it still felt lonely and made him irritable.

It was so noticeable that Shang Chen felt the cold aura around Gu Yanjing getting stronger and stronger.

Shang Chen always felt that his Mr. Gu wanted someone to suffer or to bring misfortune upon someone.

After thinking over and over for a week, he finally thought of someone.

Qiao Yuxian!!!

Her absence for many days must have angered his Mr. Gu, causing her to be kicked out by him.

And Mr. Gu’s bad mood...was because everything here was arranged by Qiao Yuxian, irritating him.

So...on the new week, after work on Monday, Shang Chen mischievously drove to Gu Yanjing’s former residence...
