The Hunter’s Lively Wife
Chapter 706 - Chapter 706 Chapter 706 Tracking

Chapter 706: Chapter 706: Tracking Chapter 706: Chapter 706: Tracking Gu Yan roughly glanced at the address written on the paper and immediately knew where Young Master Chu lived; the place was just half a street away from Fuman Building.

It wasn’t far.

Wu Xinxin had lost all face at the residence of Gu Yan and his wife Su Yunjin yesterday and had been sulking for the whole day. She then went to make trouble in front of Shopkeeper Wu, demanding that Shopkeeper Wu prevent Gu Yan from leaving.

For the sake of his own daughter’s well-being, Shopkeeper Wu certainly wouldn’t listen to Wu Xinxin. Shopkeeper Wu only said that he had already agreed for Gu Yan to leave and couldn’t go back on his word, advising Wu Xinxin not to make any more trouble.

Wu Xinxin was unwilling to let things rest, yet she was powerless to change anything and could only stew in anger alone in her room. This morning, she saw Su Yunjin and her husband Gu Yan loading up carts of fruit wine outside the tavern, seemingly preparing for a delivery. Seeing this, Wu Xinxin felt disdain, and she was very angry with Gu Yan. She couldn’t understand why Gu Yan would forsake his role at the Accountant of Hongyun Building to perform menial labor delivering goods for others. The task of delivering wine was meant for servants.

Indeed, Gu Yan delivering goods equated to performing lowly, menial work. Biting her lower lip, Wu Xinxin was convinced that Gu Yan would one day come begging to return to their Hongyun Building.

Gu Yan and his company had hired a total of six ox carts, and the last one was only loaded with half a cart of goods, leaving the other half empty. Gu Yan looked at his young wife.

“Yun’er, get on.” Since half of the cart was empty anyway, not using it would be a waste. If his young wife sat there, she wouldn’t have to walk along with the rest.

Su Yunjin asked Gu Yan, “Husband, what about you?” There was enough space left in the cart for Gu Yan to sit as well, and Su Yunjin intended for Gu Yan to sit with her.

But Gu Yan didn’t plan to get on the cart.

“Yun’er, you go ahead and sit! With so many carts of fruit wine, someone needs to keep an eye on them. Aren’t you worried something might go wrong? I’ll keep watch, so no accidents will happen.” Gu Yan followed on foot behind the carts, which would allow him to handle any emergencies promptly.

Especially since those responsible for smashing the fruit wine had not yet been found. To be on the safe side, Gu Yan dared not to be careless. If Gu Yan was not sitting on the cart, Su Yunjin had no intention of doing so either.

Walking alongside Gu Yan would allow them to talk to each other. Sitting alone in the ox cart at the front wasn’t appealing; it would be more interesting to walk together with Gu Yan.

“Husband, I’ll walk with you.” Su Yunjin hopped down from the ox cart, deciding not to sit. Since his young wife chose not to ride, Gu Yan thought about it and didn’t insist further.

And so, the couple walked together.

Su Yunjin’s business dealing over the fruit wine with Young Master Chu had been inadvertently witnessed by Fan Wenxuan, who suspected that there was something fishy between the two of them.

He was certain that they must have been involved with each other for a long time.

In an effort to catch the adulterers in the act, Fan Wenxuan had been covertly following Young Master Chu these past days, aiming to find evidence of Su Yunjin being together with Young Master Chu.

He was intent on ruining both Su Yunjin’s and Young Master Chu’s reputations. His own had been sullied at the hands of Su Yunjin, making him now too ashamed to even return to his village.

He certainly was not going to let Su Yunjin off easily. When he had previously smashed Su Yunjin’s fruit wine, Fan Wenxuan thought he had vented his anger, but little did he anticipate that in doing so, he had actually helped Su Yunjin significantly.

Today, Fan Wenxuan was hiding not far from the residence where Young Master Chu lived, planning to continue following Young Master Chu.

He refused to believe that if he kept on tracking him, he wouldn’t catch sight of Su Yunjin and that man together again in secret. Maybe he could even catch them in the act.
