Su Yunjin put on her clothes while Su Ningxiu was still singing Aunt Liang’s praises.

Su Yunjin smiled.

"Second Sister, is Aunt Liang’s cooking really as good as you say?" Su Ningxiu had been lavishing praise on Aunt Liang in Su Yunjin’s ear, making Su Yunjin curious about Aunt Liang’s cooking skills.

Su Ningxiu nodded vigorously and then pulled Su Yunjin along, "Little sister, if you don’t believe me, let’s go and taste it right now." The two sisters went out of the room together.

In the kitchen, Aunt Liang had already set the bowls and chopsticks. Hearing that Su Yunjin had recently taken a liking to steamed eggs, Aunt Liang had steamed an extra bowl of chicken eggs for each of the sisters.

Wang Meng did not stay over at Su Yunjin’s place yesterday, and Aunt Liang had not cooked meals for anyone else this morning, only for Su Yunjin and Su Ningxiu.

Seeing that the dishes on the table looked appetizing, Su Yunjin asked Aunt Liang before starting to eat, "Auntie, have you eaten?" Since there was plenty of food on the table and she and her second sister could not finish it all, if Aunt Liang had not eaten, she would invite her to join them. Su Yunjin wasn’t that particular about formalities.

Aunt Liang had once worked as a servant in a well-to-do household and took decorum very seriously. She had eaten something casually before serving the meal to Su Yunjin and her sister.

"Madam, Auntie has eaten. It’s cold, don’t let the dishes get cold, you and Mrs. Wang should eat while it’s hot." Su Ningxiu was Wang Meng’s wife, and Aunt Liang addressed Su Yunjin as Mrs. Gu (Gu being her husband’s surname), and Su Ningxiu as Mrs. Wang. Su Ningxiu wasn’t used to Aunt Liang’s form of address, as she was accustomed to rough work.

Even though her life with Wang Meng had improved, she wasn’t comfortable with others calling her ’madam’. In Su Ningxiu’s view, the term ’madam’ was reserved for the legitimate wives of the wealthy gentlemen in the town! She was merely an ordinary hunter’s woman from the countryside; how could she be referred to as a madam? She worried it might become a laughingstock if overheard by others in the village.

Su Ningxiu wanted Aunt Liang to call her Mrs. Su, but Aunt Liang just chuckled, "Mrs. Wang, you are Mrs. Gu’s elder sister; according to customs, it is proper for me to address you as ’madam’."

Su Ningxiu felt conflicted about the title, but Su Yunjin really didn’t mind. In Su Yunjin’s opinion, it was just a form of address and not something to fuss over.

"Second Sister, let it be. Let Aunt Liang call you as she likes!" Su Yunjin had spoken, Su Ningxiu glanced at her younger sister and then at Aunt Liang.

She hesitated for a pause, then said nothing.

And so the form of address was settled. Aunt Liang continued to call Su Ningxiu Mrs. Wang.

Su Ningxiu scooped up a spoonful of steamed egg. Normally, the steamed egg was prepared by Su Yunjin herself, or her second sister prepared it for her. Su Yunjin’s culinary skills were not bad, and the food she made was delicious. Her second sister had just been praising Aunt Liang’s skills non-stop, and Su Yunjin was skeptical, but after one bite of the steamed egg, she was immediately surprised.

The control of heat for the steamed egg was just right.

Especially tender.

Not a bit of fishiness.

Upon careful consideration, it seemed to taste even better than what Su Yunjin cooked herself.

Su Ningxiu also scooped up a spoonful of steamed egg to taste.

She blinked her eyes and smiled, asking Su Yunjin.

"Little sister, how is it? Isn’t Aunt Liang’s cooking quite good?"

After finishing the steamed egg in her mouth, Su Yunjin nodded with approval, "Second Sister, Aunt Liang’s skill is certainly good."

Su Ningxiu then picked up a bun for Su Yunjin.

"Little sister, try this bun. It’s also very tasty!"

Su Yunjin tasted it.

Aunt Liang, standing aside, heard Su Yunjin and Su Ningxiu’s compliments and smiled, "It’s good that both madams like it."
