Chapter 1296: Chapter 1296: Be Careful
She lowered her head and sniffed.
The Consort of Prince Rui very much liked the fragrance of the sachet.
A subtle scent.
It smelled somewhat like orchids, also a bit like osmanthus, but it was more of a combination of the two, particularly comforting to one’s sense of smell.
The Consort handed the sachet to Lingling and instructed her to place it under her pillow as Su Yunjin had advised; coincidentally, she had been having trouble sleeping lately. Since Su Yunjin had given her this sachet, she should be able to sleep well at night. Because of this gift, she felt even closer to Su Yunjin in her heart.
She found Su Yunjin’s congratulatory gift to be very thoughtful. The Consort could hardly be bothered to look at the other precious items she had received; she accepted them and simply had Lingling lock them away in the storeroom.
Among all the guests who brought gifts to the Prince Qi Residence today, the Consort was particularly pleased with the sachet and cloth tiger Su Yunjin had presented. Su Yunjin said she could help her bear more children for Prince Rui, pulling her hand. The Consort also asked Su Yunjin to prescribe her a herbal medicine regimen for her body.
The Consort treated Su Yunjin well, even recognizing her as an adopted sister. Su Yunjin was not one to be ungrateful; appreciating the Consort’s kindness, she sincerely considered the Consort’s well-being. Regarding childbirth, Su Yunjin laid out the pros and cons for the Consort, suggesting it would be best to wait another year before trying to conceive again.
Actually, the Consort had also planned to wait a year before having another child. Having just given birth to one, she would have no time to care for a second right away. Waiting another year would be just right. Thus, she readily accepted Su Yunjin’s advice.
"Sister, I will remember your words, and please trouble yourself to prescribe me two more sets of medicinal formulas to help with recuperation later," said the Consort. Prince Rui himself had come to town, and she would follow him leaving for Jincheng in a few days. With the herbal formulas Su Yunjin would write for her now, she would be able to follow the regimen once back in Jincheng.
The paper and ink on the table were ready to use; Su Yunjin agreed and began to write the medicine prescription for the Consort, thinking deeply before putting pen to paper.
Before writing, Su Yunjin cautioned the Consort, "Although the prescription I am writing for you is for recuperating your body, but all medicines have side effects. Since you’re currently breastfeeding, you should avoid taking this medicine for at least three months. After the Little Prince no longer needs to be nursed by you, it would be better for you to follow the prescriptions I give you then."
The Consort nodded.
The boisterous sounds from outside drifted in; it was time to start the feast, and a servant came in to inform the Consort. The Prince also walked in from outside.
"Your Highness, you’ve arrived?" Seeing Prince Rui, the Consort walked over to him with a beaming face, cradling the child whose little hands were clutching and gnawing on the cloth tiger.
The cloth tiger was quite wet with saliva. Prince Rui looked at his son, adorably naive and endearing, and couldn’t help but want to hold him. The Consort frowned, "Why is he gnawing on it again?" She had just taken the cloth tiger out of the little one’s mouth.
In a blink of an eye, the little one was gnawing on it once more.
Prince Rui didn’t mind.
The cloth tiger wasn’t dirty; besides, boys should be raised toughly, there was no need to spoil them too much. They weren’t girls, after all, whom you could indulge without worry.
Prince Rui took the child into his arms and even lifted him high in the air, to which the Consort hurried to take her son back, "Your Highness, be careful, don’t drop the child."
