Chapter 1292: Chapter 1292: Feeding the Child
Su Yunjin nodded as she ate.
"Light and crispy, delicious!" Su Yunjin, enjoying the food, saw the Prince’s wife also smiling and taking a piece to taste. Gu Ya had been waiting below the stage for his young wife and noticed that his wife was pulled aside to talk by the Prince’s wife, so he followed. Prince Ning also came along with them.
The relationship between Prince Rui and Prince Ning was rather good. Seeing Prince Ning, Prince Rui smiled and chatted with him, then turned his gaze to Gu Ya. This was the first time Prince Rui had seen Gu Ya and did not know who he was.
"Who might this be...?" Prince Rui looked somewhat puzzled at Gu Ya, thinking he was a new subordinate of Prince Ning.
Without waiting for Prince Ning to speak, the Prince’s wife looked at Gu Ya and explained to Prince Rui first, "Your Highness, this is Lady Su’s husband, Mr. Gu."
Gu Ya bowed in greeting.
"I have seen Prince Rui," said Gu Ya. Although he was just an ordinary commoner, his demeanor seemed rather extraordinary. Prince Rui had first found Su Yunjin quite agreeable.
Now, looking at Gu Ya, and considering both his appearance and temperament to be extraordinary, Prince Rui couldn’t help but speculate about him. The Prince’s wife kindly asked everyone to sit down.
Prince Ning had some affairs to attend to and did not sit. He took his leave and departed. Meanwhile, Prince Rui and Gu Ya sat down. Prince Rui asked some basic questions which Gu Ya answered politely. The Prince’s wife found the men’s conversation dull and, just as the servants came to say that the child had cried, she took Su Yunjin with her into the inner chamber.
"Your Highness, Mr. Gu, I and Sister Su will go and see the child in the room. You two continue to talk; there’s no need to mind us." The Prince’s wife said to Prince Rui and Gu Ya before taking Su Yunjin away to the inner court.
Gu Ya looked at his little wife and nodded, then communicated through a glance that he would wait for her outside. Su Yunjin understood and turned to follow the Prince’s wife.
Inside the inner court, the Little Prince slept alone in a very large and luxurious room, covered with a thick carpet.
Luckily, Su Yunjin’s shoes were new today and not dirty. The Prince’s wife led her into the room while the child wailed loudly.
Clearly, he was missing his mother.
From birth, the child had always been personally cared for by the Prince’s wife. When she took care of the child, the servants dared not talk loudly for fear of disturbing the Prince’s wife and the child.
Today, the Prince Qi Residence was holding a month-old feast, and there were many guests; the noise and bustle in the Wang Residence were quite loud. Unable to tolerate such disturbance, the child began to cry loudly.
No matter how the servants tried, they could not soothe him.
Fearing the Little Prince would fall ill from his crying, the servants did not dare neglect him and quickly informed both the Prince’s wife and Prince Rui. The little fellow had been crying for a while now, his small face red and pitiable, eliciting sympathy. The Prince’s wife, seeing just how distressed the child was, rushed over and picked him up to comfort him.
Perhaps knowing the Prince’s wife was his mother, the little one calmed down as soon as he was in her arms. He stopped crying and snuggled close, seemingly in search of food.
Realizing the child was hungry, the Prince’s wife quickly opened her clothes to feed him. Su Yunjin, feeling embarrassed, averted her gaze instinctively, only looking back when the child was eating happily.
