After a simple lunch,

Su Yunjin followed Gu Ya to the town. Gu Ya had completed most of the tasks, leaving only a small portion to be arranged by him.

Su Yunjin was just following along and observing. After a while, she noticed that everything Gu Ya had arranged was orderly and even more meticulously managed than she would have done herself.

With the shop opening arrangements well-handled by Gu Ya, Su Yunjin, standing aside without interjecting, simply watched. With few things left to do, Gu Ya swiftly finished arranging all the tasks.

The workers, following Gu Ya’s instructions, committed everything to memory. Gu Ya told them to go back and rest as there would be a busy day ahead, and they nodded before leaving.

Gu Ya then turned back to look at his petite wife.

"Yunjin, how do you feel? Aren’t you tired?" His little wife had been out with him for so long and had been standing the whole time without any rest. Seeing Yunjin clutching a belly bigger than a watermelon, Gu Ya was always concerned that she might be tired. Su Yunjin shook her head, "Husband, I’m fine."

How long had Su Yunjin been standing, after all? How could she be tired? Though Su Yunjin claimed not to be tired, Gu Ya still insisted that his little wife go aside to rest.

Bringing over a stool, Gu Ya told her to sit, "Yunjin, sit down and rest for a bit. I’ll go upstairs to check." Su Yunjin wasn’t tired.

But when Gu Ya asked her to sit, Su Yunjin didn’t.

"Husband, I’ll accompany you upstairs to take a look." Zuixiang Restaurant was large, divided into an upper and lower floor with three levels, and both floors were filled with fruit wine.

The first floor downstairs had more common fruit wines that were not expensive, whereas the second floor had slightly pricier fruit wines, and the third floor had the most expensive ones.

By separating the fruit wines into different categories for sale, it made things much simpler. It prevented mistakes and made it easier for Su Yunjin and Gu Ya to manage. Most people in town were commoners who could only afford relatively cheap fruit wines. By segregating fruit wines of different price points, more workers could be arranged on the cheaper first floor.

Fewer workers were needed for the upstairs.

Moreover, those selling the more expensive fruit wines had to be somewhat clever. Most of the people who could afford expensive fruit wines were the wealthy residents of the town.

Arranging for more astute workers would also ensure better customer service. Su Yunjin followed Gu Ya to check both upstairs and downstairs and found that Gu Ya’s arrangements were satisfactory.

She was quite pleased as she followed Gu Ya downstairs. Now that all affairs were in place, Gu Ya took his little wife back to the village. Today, Gu Hengniang had come over, and Su Yunjin thought that after Gu Ya dismissed Gu Hengniang, she would be put in her place and back off. However, Gu Hengniang did not stop there and, after leaving their place, went to demand money from the couple, her fifth brother-in-law and his wife.

In the evening, Mrs. Chu, the wife of the fifth brother-in-law, came over and indignantly told Su Yunjin, "Third sister-in-law, the second sister has no shame. She came to the shop that your fifth brother and I run and directly asked for money, demanding fifty taels of silver right off the bat. Your fifth brother and I can’t even earn fifty taels in a month with hard work, yet with one request, your second sister is asking for fifty taels. She even said it was to buy a Jade Pendant to celebrate her husband’s birthday."

"Younger sister-in-law, did you give it to her?" Su Yunjin instinctively asked.

Mrs. Chu had no particular fondness for Wan Da’an and equally disliked the ignorant second sister, Gu Hengniang. The silver she and Gu Jianghai toiled hard for in the wee hours would certainly not be given away so easily to Gu Hengniang.
