Chapter 192: Upholding Justice
Chapter 192: Upholding Justice
In the presence of Dragon Zephyr, the coronation ceremony continued. The former ruler, King Solomon, finally passed the crown to Princess Eve, pronouncing her the new Queen of Kingdom Averion.
"All hail Queen Eve, the rightful ruler of Kingdom Averion!"
The people cheered together as they chanted "All hail Queen Eve!" in unison.
The trumpets resounded, and the bells rang in the entire palace grounds. The sound could be heard in the kingdom’s capital, making the subjects know that the crowning ceremony was done.
The Chancellor immediately proceeded to the next step– delivering a message from the new ruler.
He invited Eve to give her first speech as the new Queen, addressing the people’s hopes and keeping peace in the kingdom.
Queen Eve took the center stage of the grandstand. Nobles and royal court officials bowed down as they acknowledged her.
They waited for her to speak. Everyone fell silent for a moment, focusing their attention on their new Queen.
Queen Eve darted her gaze around her surroundings. She took a deep breath before she finally spoke up.
"Citizens of Kingdom Averion, I have an important announcement to make. First of all, as the new ruler of this Kingdom, I vow to keep the peace in this kingdom and make it prosper for the sake of my subjects, both nobles and common people."
Eve paused for a moment as she looked at the people from the slum.
"I will make the education and health services for the common people my top priority. I will amend the kingdom’s laws that enforce social class divisions among our citizens. Under my reign, the commoners will have the right to rise to higher positions, just like the nobles. I will reform our political system to ensure fairness, opportunity, and progress for all."
Everyone was shocked upon hearing Queen Eve’s speech. The nobles looked concerned about her plan, but they didn’t have the courage to question the new Queen, especially in front of the mighty dragon, Zephyr.
On the other hand, the commoners started to rejoice the moment Eve’s words sank into their minds. Their eyes sparkled with newfound hope.
The New Queen showed genuine concern for the common people. She was willing to do some reform for their sake. Because of that, they admired her more.
They felt grateful, appreciating Eve’s kind words. They couldn’t wait for her to implement those reforms.
"We will support you, Our Majesty!"
"We are grateful for your concern. We appreciate it so much!"
The crowd expressed their gratitude to their new queen. Only the nobles stayed silent on their respective seats. They were afraid that they would be greatly affected by this reform.
But Eve wasn’t afraid of the backlash she might receive from the noble families. Her heart was with the common people. She wanted to protect them and do everything for them to improve their way of living.
Unlike in the past, when only noble families enjoyed the royal family’s favor, the majority of the kingdom’s laws were crafted to benefit the aristocracy, leaving the common people with little power or opportunity.
The poor only suffered from famine and natural disasters. Many lives were lost due to neglecting the common people.
"But let me make one thing clear to everyone here — I am not a ruler to be taken lightly. If anyone dares to commit wrongdoing, they will face punishment without exception. I will uphold justice in this kingdom, and I will show no tolerance for those who break the law or bring harm to others," Eve said with conviction.
The nobles and royal court officials looked at her anxiously. They feared Eve and her power. With her beast-taming ability, she could easily take control of the kingdom without relying on the royal knights and the generals. They were not stupid to go against her.
"Now, I am here to set an example to everyone," Eve added, glancing in the direction of Captain Alucard. She gave him her signal.
Without further ado, Captain Alucard motioned for the guards to bring Queen Amara and Princess Alessandra to the grandstand.
Everyone gasped in shock the moment they caught sight of the former Queen and the First Princess. Flanked by guards on all sides, they looked nothing like the royalty they once were—both bound in heavy shackles, their heads lowered in disgrace as they were led forward like common prisoners.
"Oh my God! What’s going on here? Did they commit a serious crime?"
"What happened to the royal family? Are they having an internal dispute?"
The crowd began to speculate.
Meanwhile, Queen Amara gritted her teeth. She was expecting Princess Aliyah to kill Eve. However, she was still there, alive and kicking.
She was being humiliated in front of the crowd as Eve treated her like a common prisoner.
"How dare you do this to me? Publicly disgrace me like this, and right after your coronation?!" Queen Amara roared, her voice trembling with fury.
She lunged forward, driven by the urge to strike Eve, but the weight of the shackles and the firm grip of the guards held her back, preventing her from getting anywhere near the new queen.
When she didn’t get any response from Eve, Queen Amara shifted her gaze back and forth between King Solomon and Prince Stefan.
"Why are you letting her do this? We are the royal family! She’s the outsider here! Why are you siding with this cunning witch?!" Queen Amara barked, her voice sharp with betrayal as she glared at her husband and son.
But King Solomon and Prince Stefan could only avert their eyes, unable to meet her furious, accusing gaze. Their silence cut deeper than any words, leaving Amara seething with helpless rage.
King Solomon and Prince Stefan were both worried about Queen Amara and Princess Alessandra. However, they didn’t have the right to interfere.
Eve had valid reasons to punish them. They were the ones who made her suffer. Now, this was the least they could do—to stand aside, cooperate, and submit to her justice.
Both Solomon and Stefan understood that they, too, had a debt to pay for their own wrongdoings against Eve.
This was her moment, and they were powerless to stop her. All they could do was watch in silence as the consequences of their past actions unfolded before them.
