Chapter 65: Frost Drake

"Oh shit! Now that’s what I’m talking about, baby! Wooo! Hell yeah!" Kai celebrated.

"Wow! Gwen, that was amazing!" Amaya cheered as well, running up to Gwen to hug her.

"I didn’t want to lose, so I used everything I had." Gwen smiled.

"You broke through your limits, that’s so awesome." Kai smiled. "Imma go handle the wendigo. Fuck, we’re gonna make so much money from this!"

As Kai was putting the windigo in his inventory, he heard another roar from the cave entrance.

"The fuck?"

"Gwen! Watch out!" Amaya quickly grabbed Gwen and pulled her out of the way right before another Wendigo slammed its club into the ice floor, cracking it.

"Are you okay?"

Gwen nodded. "Thanks."

Kai quickly dashed over to the windigo, aiming to kill it in one blow. But right before he could, the entire ground shattered.

"What the fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuk!"

"AHHHHHHHHH!"

"Oh come onnnnnnnnnnnn"

All of them fell into a massive sinkhole that sat right under the Wendigo cave. This was information they didn’t know, so all of them were beyond shocked that this was there.

’Why the fuck is there a sinkhole right where those monsters live? Wait, Gwen, Amaya!’

"G-Gwen! Above you!" Amaya shouted

"GRRROARRRRRR!"

Even while falling, the wendigo didn’t stop trying to kill them. It opened its mouth and fired a beam of frost at Gwen.

"Shit!" She blocked with a flame barrier, but since she had slightly exhausted her mana a few moments ago, her barrier wouldn’t be able to hold on for long.

’I’m coming, baby!’ Kai prepared for moments like these. This is the reason why he wished to be OP early on. He could adapt to any situation.

He flew toward the Wendigo and easily cut off its head with his sword, quickly putting the beast in his inventory while he was at it.

He then rocketed down, grabbing Gwen first since she was lower and he didn’t know when they would touch the ground. After that, he positioned himself under Amaya, used wind magic to slow her down, then had her land on his back.

Finally, he saw where the sinkhole ended, placed [Protection Aura] around the girls, then landed softly on the ground.

"T-Thank you, Kai," Amaya said while clinging to him tightly. Her body was shaking, and her eyes were closed.

"Ohhhhhh god. I thought we were gonna die!" Gwen dropped to the ground and breathed a sigh of relief. Her heart was pounding like crazy, and she could barely swallow.

"Haha, don’t worry. Both of you wont die when I’m around." Kai reassured them.

"So where are we?"

They looked around and saw that they were in some sort of cave. No, more like a lair. Ice was all around them, and there were tons of gemstones, gold, bones, and dead animals.

Amaya sniffed the air. "I smell blood."

Kai pointed across the lair. "I see blood."

"Guys, stop!"

Kai and Amaya turned around to see a spooked Gwen shaking in her boots.

"Yo, Gwen, you good? Looks like you’ve seen a ghost."

"K-Kai. You need to get us out of here. You need to get us out of here right now!" She demanded.

"Woah, slow down. Take it easy. Why don’t you explain to me-"

"NOW!" She screamed at the top of her lungs.

Kai had never seen Gwen look or act this way before. She didn’t lose herself even as they fell down the sinkhole.

However, Kai nodded and picked both girls up with his telekinesis. If there was something that spooked Gwen so much that she would start acting this way, he wasn’t sticking around to find out what it was.

"Let’s go." The moment he started floating, his danger senses went off. Thinking fast, he tossed the girls to the side safely and blocked whatever was coming at them, getting knocked into a wall in the process.

"GRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWRRRRRRR!!!!" The creature bellowed, causing the lair to shake like crazy.

"I-Is that a fucking dragon!" Amaya asked, shaking in fear. _{fre.ewebnov el.com}

"N-No, thankfully it’s not. It’s a Drake." Gwen informed her.

"T-That doesn’t make things better, Gwen!"

"I-I know! Kai, lets-"

Kai was already engaging the beast, making sure he captured its attention to lure it away from his girls.

He didn’t know how strong this Drake was, but he wasn’t taking any chances.

The drake slammed its talons on the ground, and a flurry of icicles tore through the ground.

Kai narrowly avoided them and managed to cut some of them down.

’Seeing how it’s an ice creature, fire should work best against it.’ And so he used fire magic.

He rushed to its side, slashing at its scaly hide, drawing a bit of blood.

The drake swiped at him, but Kai stopped it with his arm, only for him to feel it break.

"Nnngh!"

"Kai, be careful! They can harm tier-10 warriors." Gwen shouted.

’That would have been useful earlier! Wait, I’m stupid, I could have used [Appraisal]. Fuck me’

He healed his arm instantly and sliced off the drake’s claws.

"You know, for a dragon, I thought you would be more Talen-ted. Ha, get it?"

The dragon bellowed even louder.

"Yeah, he got it."

The two of them continued to have a devastating fight, nearly leveling the lair, for a while until Kai started to overwhelm the beast.

This was his first serious fight where he was getting hurt, and he took things seriously while also making sure Amaya and Gwen didn’t get caught up in their battle.

Eventually, Kai managed to shatter the drake’s scales on its back and blast it with a shit ton of fire magic.

"Wanna know why I was able to beat you?" Kai asked the Drake. "It’s because you couldn’t wing it. Hahahahahahahaha!" He killed the drake by blasting its head with a fire arrow.

"What the hell just happened?" Amaya looked at Kai and the drake lying on the cold, hard ground. "You beat that thing?"

Kai shrugged. "Guess so."

Gwen stared at the drake’s dead body, and her eyes shifted. They became slits, like a snake, and the way her mana felt changed. Since she was so focused on the Drake, she didn’t even realize the changes in her body until Kai snapped her back to reality.

"Holy shit! Gwen! What happened to your eyes?!"

When she heard his voice, she regained herself and her eyes and mana returned to normal.

"N-Nothing. Let’s get out of here. Also, grab that Drake, you could sell it for a lot of money."

’She’s hiding something.’ Kai squinted his eyes. ’I’ll look into this after we leave.’

He grabbed all the gemstones, gold, and the drake’s body, then left with Gwen and Amaya.
