Chapter 994: Chapter 994: What Have You Done?
Lu Qiubo, upon hearing Lin Laogeng’s words, hurried out. When he left his own courtyard, he looked back at the wall and sighed deeply.
"Grandpa, Grandma, please have some tea," said Lin Changfeng as he invited them into the main hall. He then personally went to brew the tea and brought out some dried fruit from Manghuang Mountain as refreshments.
"My dear grandson, now you’re a winner of the examination, a person of great importance, how can you still be doing things like serving tea and water? Doesn’t the family have anyone else? These menial tasks, just order someone from the household to do them," Grandpa Yang reproached Lin Changfeng as he watched him carry over the tea.
"Yes, yes, Changfeng boy, you must manage your household properly. How can you be doing these things? In the future, you’re destined to be an official; quickly put it down, put it down. Where is your grandma? Why isn’t she doing these tasks? She’s truly worthless!"
Old Madam Yang chimed in as well.
The several uncles from the Yang Family also echoed the two elders’ remarks, incessantly telling Lin Changfeng to order others in the house to work, so as not to diminish his own status.
Hearing this, Lin Changfeng’s expression darkened instantly, and his eyes changed in a flash.
"Grandpa, Grandma, from what you’re saying, do you want me to order you to go to the kitchen and do these tasks?" he asked them coldly.
To him, these people in front were almost strangers; he had nearly forgotten what they looked like.
Had it not been for a reminder from his grandma just now, he wouldn’t have remembered these relatives, who apparently had come out of nowhere. The reason was simple: thirteen years ago, after his maternal grandmother stole Lin Caihe’s baby clothes, she had never visited again.
And because his mother was furious that her own mother didn’t leave her a way out, she stopped interacting with her maternal family, and since then, their relationship had been severed.
Who would have thought that now, having passed the examination and become a winner of the examination, these relatives would eagerly come knocking on his door? Perhaps they were here to seek some benefits, but what could they possibly gain since he currently had nothing?
"How can that be the same?"
Upon hearing his words, the two elders’ faces turned dark, glaring at Lin Changfeng.
"Changfeng, we are your kin, I am your very own grandpa. Are you planning to order me around?"
"Aren’t Grandpa and Grandma my very own grandparents as well?" Lin Changfeng retorted.
"Grandpa, even if you’re my relative, there is still an ’outside’ in that term. I am a Lin, not a Yang!"
"You—" Old Mr. Yang felt a rush of anger stuck in his throat and nearly passed out from the indignation.
They had caught wind that their grandson was making something of himself and would surely share his glory with them in the future; that’s why they came.
But little did they expect their grandson to be so ungrateful, just like his ungrateful mother.
"Changfeng, how could you have become like this? We are your relatives..."
"Please, spare me," Changfeng cut in abruptly as Old Madam Yang tried to speak.
"Grandma, aren’t you aware of how close we really are? When you came to my house back then, didn’t you do something? Or have you forgotten all about it?"
This so-called grandmother was truly a person beyond his description, and under her influence, his grandfather had gradually become an extremely opportunistic person.
