The Herbal Scents of Farm Life
Chapter 988: It’s really her!

Chapter 988: Chapter 988: It’s really her!

Hearing the ’clang’ of the door opening and closing, that person’s heart felt as if it had been seized by a dark claw, their fear almost rendering them unconscious even before being beaten.

"What... what are you going to do?"

Zhe Jue hadn’t yet raised his whip, and that person already couldn’t bear it, their eyes widening in terror before rolling back as they fainted.

Zhe Jue: "!!!"

Turning his head, he looked at Zhen Wu with an expression that couldn’t be more obvious: I haven’t even started, and he faints? What happened to the tough talk?

Zhen Wu just shrugged his shoulders, indicating it wasn’t his concern.

"My lord, in my opinion, these two men are not the Emperor’s, they seem more like..."

He had not finished his sentence when he was quickly silenced under Ya Molian’s sharp and cold gaze.

In truth, it was no great challenge to guess whose subordinates these two guards were; they had killed Suri, and it was Sui Zilin who did it in the full view of the public, right under his watch.

Who could benefit the most from this situation was as clear as day, wasn’t it?

Ya Molian took a deep breath.

"I have no use for ’seems like,’ Zhe Jue. These two are yours to deal with; you must make them spit out every last word they’re withholding!" He stood up and walked out of the iron prison.

"Yes, my lord."

Zhe Jue responded, then turned back to the ’unconscious’ man before him.

"You think you can just faint, and I won’t be able to deal with you? I’ll make you faint!"

With that, he swung his whip, striking the man relentlessly. One lash might be bearable, but by the second and third, raining down like raindrops, anyone would break.

So, within moments, the man screamed out in pain.

"You’re quite the actor. I’ll give you something to act about, come here and beat him fiercely until he passes out," he said, waving over another guard and handing him the whip.

"Get rid of that bucket of water and bring me some honey!" Zhe Jue ordered another guard inside the prison.

"You, go search throughout Shaohua City, gather all the ant nests you can find. I want to see when I pour honey over you, and the ants start to bite all over your body, whether you’ll find it as bearable as you do now!"

He said this to the man.

"Ah, no... please, don’t, I... I’ll talk, I’ll talk..."

Just imagining ants crawling all over his body, nibbling away at his flesh, the guard no longer dared to keep his lips sealed and pleaded for mercy.

"Tsk."

Hearing his plea, Zhe Jue scoffed.

"I thought you’d be tougher, but it turns out you’re just a coward. Can’t even handle this little torture? How wonderful it would be if you could have endured. I have many other interrogation methods I wanted to try on you!"

Hearing his words, the man was so terrified that he truly fainted.

...

Before long, in the study of Prince Mo’s Mansion, Zhe Jue relayed every word the guard had said to his own master without omission.

"It’s her indeed!"

Ya Molian’s hand, resting on the table, clenched tightly, his eyes flickering with sparks of anger.

"My lord, should we inform Suyang about this?" Zhen Wu asked.

The situation was exactly as he had speculated; it was nothing but a trap set by Her Highness Princess Consort Lian for the sake of her son’s ascension to a higher rank, and all those who had traveled to White Blind Mountain had become mere pawns in Princess Consort Lian’s hands.
