Chapter 866: Chapter 866: Poisoned Again_1
Lin Caisang said.
"This... Miss, as long as you can accept the Emperor’s decree, His Majesty will surely reward you handsomely," Suyang spoke.
The implication was that since she had received benefits, it was only natural for her to fulfill her duties. As for acknowledging any favor or indebtedness, there was no need to mention such things. After all, who would dare to claim the Emperor owed them a favor?
Another point, Lin Caisang had just mentioned the term ’you people of Wei State’?
In his heart, he wondered, could it be that this lady truly was not from Wei State? Therefore, when facing the Emperor of Wei State, did she possess not the slightest hint of reverence?
However, all these concerns were not within the scope of his current considerations. He cared for nothing else but the safety of his son, that he might be cured of the poison and return home safely.
"Does the National Teacher truly think that for someone like me to make a trip to a place like White Blind Mountain, a mere substantial reward would suffice?" Lin Caisang laughed softly and asked him.
Suyang: "..."
How could it be considered a mere substantial reward? What he had mentioned was a hefty reward.
Yet considering the vast amount of silver and rare treasures Lin Caisang had already taken from him, she must surely have a wealth of valuable items by now. Would she even care for such rewards?
Probably... not.
"Then, Miss, what do you think should be done?" he asked.
"What this young lady says hardly matters; we should wait until we enter the palace. There, we can inquire together with the Emperor, don’t you think?" Lin Caisang posed the question to him.
"Yes, what Miss says is true," Suyang could hardly argue otherwise.
Of course, all he could do was agree with Lin Caisang’s wishes and make arrangements for them to enter the palace first.
...
On one side, Suyang was slowly making preparations to enter the palace with Lin Caisang, while on the other, Eunuch Su had suffered a great loss at the residence of the National Teacher. How could he possibly not lodge a complaint before the Emperor?
Unfortunately for him, even if he wished to lodge a complaint, he did not know how to do so.
Being illiterate to begin with, he had now also lost the ability to speak, so how could he file a complaint? He could only lie prostrate before the Emperor, his face streaked with tears as he conveyed his grievances.
"What happened here?"
Upon seeing Eunuch Su in such a state, the Emperor felt a considerable shock. He turned to the two Imperial Guards who had helped Eunuch Su back, as well as to the Captain of the Guards.
"Your Majesty, Eunuch Su was delivered to the palace gates by the guards of the National Teacher’s residence. When this humble official came upon Eunuch Su, he was already rendered speechless," the Captain of the Guards knelt on the ground and reported to the Emperor.
"How could this happen? Did the guards of the National Teacher’s residence say anything?" The Emperor furrowed his brows, looking displeased at Eunuch Su, and inquired of the Captain of the Guards.
Eunuch Su, no matter what, represented him and his dignity. To have him bullied and sent back like this was akin to a slap to his face. He was determined to return the blow.
"Your Majesty, the guards reported that upon meeting that female physician, Eunuch Su kept staring at her. The National Teacher advised him several times but to no avail. The female physician had poisoned Eunuch Su once, blinding him. Later, the National Teacher pleaded for her to cure Eunuch Su which she did. However, Eunuch Su continued to be disobedient and eventually said something that offended the female physician... and he was poisoned again," replied the Captain of the Guards.
The Captain of the Guards reported back.
The arrogant Eunuch Su finally met his retribution.
