Chapter 699: Chapter 699: A Feeling Somewhat Like Madness But Not Quite
...
In the small bamboo grove, Liu Yushui waited quite some time before she saw Zhou Liang slowly coming over.
"Brother Liang, why are you only coming now?"
Upon seeing him, Liu Yushui hurriedly approached him, clinging onto his arm, and asked him gently.
These days, she had noticed Zhou Liang had clearly been exhibiting less interest in her than before -- when their relationship had just started, Zhou Liang was the one who arrived first every time. But now, she had to wait for him in the small bamboo grove for a long time.
Today, she had been waiting for him in the bamboo grove for nearly half an hour before he finally arrived.
"Yushui, you are around seven months pregnant, right?" Zhou Liang asked after glancing at her belly.
"Yes."
Liu Yushui nodded.
"In two more months, Brother Liang would be able to marry me. Brother Liang, I can feel it. What’s in my stomach is assuredly a son. The women in the village who have given birth to sons told me that they were absolutely confident."
She had an impending sense of doom so she kept bringing up the word ’son’ every time she saw Zhou Liang these days.
"Hmm, that’s good," Zhou Liang nodded in agreement.
"Yushui, I mentioned our situation to my mother a few days ago..."
"Really? What did Auntie Zhou say? Did she agree?"
Upon hearing this, Liu Yushui was immediately overjoyed and began to question Zhou Liang about it urgently. If Madam Zhou agreed to their situation, she would definitely become a member of the Zhou family.
"When are we going to get married? Is there a date? Brother Liang, I am asking you! What did Auntie Zhou say?"
Zhou Liang, looking at Liu Yushui and listening to her questions, felt a growing sense of unease in his heart.
With a sigh, he hesitated. In relation to the matter at home, he wondered how he was going to explain things to Liu Yushui so that she would feel assured to deliver their baby.
"Yushui, considering your current living conditions, my mother suggested that when the child is born, we can take him to the Zhou family and raise him there. You don’t have to worry, my mother only has one grandson. She will surely take good care of him."
After hesitating for a while, that’s what he told Liu Yushui.
Listening to his declaration, Liu Yushui’s face grew stiff and the feeling that things were not good amplified immensely in her heart. There was no room for any more joy.
"Brother Liang, what do you mean?"
Did she hear wrong, or did she misunderstand? Zhou Liang was talking about taking their child, just the child, not her along?
"Did I hear wrongly? Brother Liang, you are going to take me with you, right? Isn’t it?"
After she swallowed, Liu Yushui nervously looked at Zhou Liang. Both her hands were tightly gripping his arm. Her demeanor was such, it seemed like she was in a frenzy. As if, if Zhou Liang did not give her the desired answer, she would not hold back.
"Yushui, don’t act like this."
Zhou Liang saw the look on her face and felt heartache.
Regardless whether Liu Yushui served any value to him now, she was the woman who stayed by his side, and it wasn’t like he had no affection for her.
"How about this, after you deliver the baby, I can buy a house in the county for you to live in. You can still lead a life as the Young Madam. But, the baby, must be brought up in the Zhou family. He carries the blood of the Zhou family and must not grow up outside."
"He’s my child, why would he be outside with me?"
Liu Yushui pulled away from Zhou Liang’s grip, her eyes wide as she stared at him. Her gaze was filled with the color of disappointment towards Zhou Liang.
