Chapter 640: Chapter 640: There’s No One Left!
"Ya Molian, you little beast, how could you forget the kindness of when I took you in, out of pity, and raised you? Now you’ve moved out and turned against my family; has your conscience been swallowed by a dog?"
Ya Tu pointed at Ya Molian’s yard and shouted.
In the other yard, all the members of the Lin family appeared. Lin Changhong held a bowl of rice in his hand while stuffing his mouth with it, standing in the yard listening to the noise outside.
"What’s Uncle Ya Tu up to, Brother Molian?" He asked Ya Molian, who stood beside his sister.
He was peacefully eating in the dining room when Ya Tu’s rant almost choked him. Fortunately, he was quick and took a sip of soup from his vegetable bowl just in time. Otherwise, he might’ve actually choked to death.
"Should we go check it out?" Lin Caisang quietly asked Ya Molian.
It’s certainly not pleasant having Ya Tu make such a racket. Although others might ignore it, Ya Molian had lived in Ya Tu’s house for many years. Even if there were no feelings, outsiders might have a different opinion.
"There’s no need. Let him rant," Ya Molian replied indifferently.
Lin Caisang: "..."
Why wouldn’t he check? With Ya Tu’s voice, half the village must’ve heard him, right?
As expected, just as she was thinking, Ya Tu started yelling at Ya Molian’s yard again.
"Ya Molian, get your ass out here now! Go explain to the Clan Chief that you won’t marry that girl from the Lin family, do you hear me? If your actions cause my family to be kicked out of the clan’s genealogy, you’ll have hell to pay, even in your afterlife! Come out now!"
Hearing this, Lin Caisang blinked twice, and again, finally understanding why Ya Molian said not to bother with him.
It seemed that Ya Tu didn’t really want Ya Molian to come out; he was shouting for the sake of the onlookers, to let everyone know he’d been forced by the Clan Chief, that he had no choice.
"Why on earth did you get hung up on Lin Caisang? Was the Clan Chief’s granddaughter, Yu Ju, not good enough for you? What the hell is wrong with you? It’s a blessing that you wouldn’t be able to obtain in several lifetimes if the Clan Chief marries his granddaughter to you! Now this good fortune has fallen into your lap, why don’t you accept it and stop courting disaster?"
"This Clan Chief Ya, he’s truly incomparable!" Lu Qiubo shook his head after hearing those words.
After losing face in front of Molian, he had Ya Tu speak for him. Was he incapable of marrying off his granddaughter? Did he have to persistently pester Ya Molian at all costs?
Even if he tried, wouldn’t it depend on whether Molian was interested in his granddaughter?
"Grandpa Laogeng, Grandma Qiubo, we need to finalize the engagement between Sang’er and me as soon as possible, otherwise this Clan Chief Ya won’t stop." Hearing the voices outside, Ya Molian turned to Lin Laogeng and Lu Qiubo, serious in tone.
"Let’s... let’s discuss this inside." Lu Qiubo glanced at his granddaughter and then at Ya Molian, saying.
Setting an engagement was a significant matter. They couldn’t just casually agree to it in the yard while listening to that noisy fuss outside. It required careful consideration.
"Alright."
Ya Molian replied, following everyone from the Lin family back inside the house to discuss the engagement.
