Chapter 629: Chapter 629: The Royal Family of Wei State

"Then you might as well have not said anything!" She rolled her eyes and retorted.

"Sang’er..." Ya Molian looked at her helplessly.

"Alright, alright, I won’t be mad, is that okay?" What else could Lin Caisang do?

Could she really be angry with Ya Molian? Could she muster up the anger towards this man who had been nothing but kind to her? If she were truly angry, she would be unappreciative of all the meals he had cooked for her and the clothes he had washed over these past months.

Upon hearing this, Ya Molian finally chuckled lightly.

"I knew it, you wouldn’t be angry with me." He said.

Lin Caisang: "!!!"

Knowing that she wouldn’t be angry, yet he still had to unnecessarily confirm it with her, what’s the point in doing that?

Was he teasing her?

"Hurry up and speak."

"Actually... there’s really nothing much to say." After some thought, Ya Molian casually spoke.

"You..."

Lin Caisang was about to explode from frustration. He finally said something after all this time, only to tell her there’s nothing to say?

However, before she could say anything, Ya Molian continued speaking.

"I was doomed from childhood. It was said that I would bring disaster and death to my elders. When I was five, both my great-grandfather and great-grandmother passed away, which led people to believe even more strongly in the curse. So, my family decided... to kill me..."

"Kill you?!"

Lin Caisang was shocked and she gasped.

But after calming down, she thought that it would be normal in this era for someone cursed to bring death to all relatives to be killed. After all, one life could potentially save many, couldn’t it?

But, when Ya Molian was five, his great-grandparents must have been very old. Their deaths would not have been caused by a curse; they would have died of old age.

"Then what happened?" She asked.

After all, Ya Molian was now still alive and well, so something else must have happened.

"My family is rather unique. To kill a child, they had to explain to many people. Back then, my father’s position in the family was not stable. If news broke out that he had killed his own son, even if that son was cursed to bring disaster, it would be very detrimental to him if some cunning individuals decided to exploit it."

Ya Molian continued.

"So after much thought, along with advice from others, he decided to send me away, to somewhere no one could see, and let me survive there."

"That... seems a bit too simplified, doesn’t it?" Lin Caisang asked, her eyebrows knitted in confusion.

There were many inconsistencies here. For instance, who had poisoned Ya Molian? Going missing and dying were essentially the same thing, right? If he had disappeared, people might assume he had been murdered. So, how could they be sure that Ya Molian was merely sent away instead of being murdered by his own father?

And there were many more questions of this sort that Ya Molian’s brief explanation had not addressed.

"Sang’er, I’m... a member of the Wei State’s imperial family." Ya Molian explained.

"Wei... Wei State?"

Lin Caisang gasped, her hand flying to cover her mouth.

The Wei State had little interaction with the Liang Kingdom, with constant wars between them. Ya Molian being sent to the Liang Kingdom must have been part of some plot by the Wei State.

"That explains it."

"My establishing the ’Nine Lotus Hall’ here was all done with the support of my family. You understand the implication, don’t you?" Ya Molian stared at her, asking.

"Uh-huh."

Lin Caisang nodded.
