Chapter 541: Chapter 541: In the Midst of a Ruckus

In the end, after much back and forth, Lin Caisang paid three thousand taels of silver to purchase the store front from the Zeng Family, and went to inspect it accompanied by the father and son duo.

"Uncle Zeng, it seems like I’ve taken a big advantage of you. This shop is really big." With a shop size almost twice that of the neighboring shops, Lin Caisang looked helplessly at Old Man Zeng.

If Old Man Zeng sold this shop to someone else, certainly wouldn’t it fetch at least five thousand taels of silver?

"Don’t be deceived by the size of this shop, it actually doesn’t make much profit," Old Man Zeng said.

Running a grocery store like this barely brings in any substantial income. There are numerous grocery stores, people tend to patronize cheaper ones, and all he could do was to join the trend of lowering prices even further.

In the end, it could barely make enough money for meals.

Otherwise, he wouldn’t have sent his son to the academy. It would have been better to buy some books for his son to read at home, wouldn’t it? After all, once the fees were paid, one could read all the books in the academy.

"Miss Lin, if there is anything you’d like to change about this place, leave it to me and Yulang." He asked.

"Let’s discuss this further when we get back," she responded.

Afterward, Lin Caisang took another look at the grocery store and returned home with Old Man Zeng and Zeng Yulang.

In her ranch space, Lin Caisang was diligently writing something and along with easy-to-understand diagrams - aiming to make things clear for the Zeng family’s father and son without needing her constant presence, given her limited seven-day schedule.

During these few days, she occasionally visited Jin An’an at the Zhi Residence and also managed the grocery store alongside the Zeng family’s father and son. She prepared the grocery and spice shops to be handed over to Old Man Zeng.

She also told Old Man Zeng to let Zeng Yulang focus on his studies and not neglect his own matters just because he was working with her.

One day, Lin Caisang arrived at the Zeng residence as usual, but saw a crowd had gathered at the entrance. The yard was filled with the sharply shrill voice of a woman.

"Sir, what’s happening at the Zeng family’s house?" she asked a man who was craning his neck towards the yard but couldn’t see anything.

"Ah, Miss Lin, you’re finally here. There’s a big commotion at Old Man Zeng’s place," the man’s face brightened when he saw her and he quickly explained.

"What’s the commotion? Who’s causing it?" Lin Caisang asked.

"It’s Yan Jinhua from the Yan Family. She has quite the thick skin," the man shook his head.

"Old Man Zeng sold his shop to you a few days ago, right? Somehow, Yan Jinhua got wind that he sold it for a large sum, and that he would still be managing the shop without having to move..."

Lin Caisang was puzzled by the man’s explanation.

So what if she bought the shop so Old Man Zeng could manage it? What does that have to do with the Yan family or Yan Jinhua? With the marriage proposal cancelled, she dared to cause a scene at the Zeng’s doorstep. Who gave her the courage?

"And then what happened?" Lin Caisang asked.

"Then the Marquis of the Marquis Mansion found out and gave a warning to his own young master. You know, that young master is always a bully towards the weak, and seeing that Old Man Zeng and Yulang side with a big figure like you, he immediately dumped Yan Jinhua.

So, Yan Jinhua, unable to swallow her anger, is causing trouble at the Zeng residence now, demanding that Zeng Yulang provide her an explanation."
