Chapter 528 - 528 528 Enjoying the Ease
Chapter 528: Chapter 528: Enjoying the Ease Chapter 528: Chapter 528: Enjoying the Ease Followed by the guard, Zhi Lingyang entered the Princess’ Mansion, letting out a faint sigh in his heart.
As expected, Jin Lele had truly managed to offend everyone she could have, how else could the Elder Princess be unaware that he had been keeping an eye on this place, merely waiting for Lin Caisang to appear?
Now, just the announcement alone took so long; was this a deliberate warning from the Elder Princess?
She was trying to tell them that Lin Caisang was under the protection of the Princess’ Mansion. They were not free to do as they pleased. If they were not going to treat Lin Caisang with respect, worthy of a distinguished guest, then they were better off leaving.
He was, after all, a general, and the Elder Princess had gone to such lengths to warn him for Lin Caisang’s sake. It seemed that Lin Caisang was indeed held in high regard by the Elder Princess.
He had been too impulsive before, actually thinking it was acceptable to have Jin Lele intimidate her, using the prestige of his general’s residence as leverage.
“Sigh.”
Zhi Lingyang let out a soft breath.
By his side, Jin An’an noticed that her husband seemed a bit off and shot him a sidelong glance, silently asking what had gone wrong.
After all, this time they had come, they were, at least, able to see someone, right?
As long as they could see Lin Caisang in person, everything else could be talked about. This was far better than the distressing situation of the past few days spent at home.
Zhi Lingyang shook his head slightly, implying that she should keep moving and not worry about him.
Just a short while later, they were led into the side hall of the front court, and the one waiting for them inside was not Lin Caisang whom they hoped to see, but the Eldest Prince.
“This subordinate greets the Eldest Prince.”
Zhi Lingyang first froze in surprise, but after snapping back to reality, he immediately, along with Jin An’an, made his salute to the Eldest Prince.
“General Zhi, please dispense with the formalities. This is not the court, there is no need to be so respectful towards this Prince,” the Eldest Prince didn’t stand up, simply speaking nonchalantly to Zhi Lingyang who knelt before him.
Kneeling, Zhi Lingyang pulled a face, musing to himself: Firstly, you tell me to dispense with the formalities, and then you say there’s no need to be so respectful, so what do you really want? Should I show respect or not?
He thought it should be the former, right?
“Eldest Prince, we cannot forgo etiquette.” He helped Jin An’an rise to their feet.
“General Zhi, Senior Madam Zhi, please sit.”
The Eldest Prince ignored his remark, gesturing for them to sit across from him.
“Thank you, Eldest Prince.”
Zhi Lingyang expressed his gratitude before leading Jin An’an to take their seats.
“Eldest Prince, have you been staying at the Princess’ Mansion these past few days?”
Even if Lin Caisang didn’t want to see him, there was no need to arrange for the Eldest Prince to meet with him. They were fine with anyone from the Princess’ Mansion. He was a bit unsure of what Lin Caisang was really trying to convey.
“Hmm, lately, Father has handed over all the affairs of the court to the Second Imperial Brother. I am quite relieved,” replied the Eldest Prince casually.
Truthfully, because he took away all the rewards meant for Lin Caisang last time, the Emperor got so angry that he nearly chased him around the entire Imperial City with a sword. He had sought refuge in the Princess’ Mansion and conveniently handed over all his affairs to his second brother who had also made a mistake and was seeking redemption.
“General Zhi, did you come this time to ask the Elder Princess to plead on your behalf to Miss Lin?” he asked Zhi Lingyang.
“Miss Lin?”
Zhi Lingyang was momentarily stunned, but immediately understood. The Miss Lin that the Eldest Prince was referring to must be the medical lady who had been to his mansion before.
“Yes, I still hope to see the Elder Princess, hoping that she can plead for my wife and I in front of Miss Lin. We are aware of our mistakes regarding the previous incident, and we promise not to act so rashly in the future.”
