The Herbal Scents of Farm Life
Chapter 2274: But What?

Chapter 2274: Chapter 2274: But What?

"Fifth Brother, I promise, I will stay far away from you and Baiqing from now on. I will never hurt you again. Please just let me go. Those two—Sui Zimo is a complete madman. If I fall into his hands, he will never let me off."

Prince Niu: "!"

His son was supposed to be living a happy life in the royal residence, with a father’s love and a mother’s care.

But over these years, his son had not been by his side. Now even though he was finally able to see him, he hadn’t heard him call him "Father" once!

And yet, Yin Lvqing thought he could just walk away from all this?

If not for the secret on Yin Lvqing that Sui Zimo and the others were trying to uncover, Prince Niu would have torn this man to shreds right here and now.

And he still dared hope for Prince Niu to rescue him?

Was that even possible?

"Heh, heh."

He let out a couple of cold laughs, crouched down, and locked eyes with Yin Lvqing.

"Yin Lvqing, I’m not an idiot. After everything you’ve done to my son, you still expect me to save you? So, tell me, am I the fool—or are you?"

"I..."

Yin Lvqing opened his mouth, but couldn’t say a single word.

"Fifth Brother, we’re brothers, real blood brothers!"

It was a long time before he managed to force out a sentence. Yes, he and Prince Niu were brothers, after all. Could the prince really bear to stand by and watch as he was tortured to death by Sui Zimo and the others?

No, he couldn’t. Could he?

Yet he wasn’t certain in his heart. He had committed too many wrongs over the years.

He couldn’t even remember how many of his schemes had been directed at Prince Niu. There had been countless attempts to kill his brother.

So, when he said those words—"blood brothers"—his eyes betrayed nothing but guilt.

And Prince Niu merely let out a derisive snort.

"Brothers? Blood brothers? Heh, heh."

Blood brothers who had caused him this much harm—if they weren’t brothers, would his life still be intact?

His head would have been detached from his shoulders long ago.

"Yin Lvqing, does saying that not make you feel sick?" he asked.

"I..."

Yin Lvqing opened his mouth, but this time had no idea what to say.

Yes, he felt nauseated. He had never truly regarded Prince Niu as a brother, only as a pawn to be used.

How could he possibly treat a mere chess piece as a blood brother?

But now, circumstances wouldn’t allow him to admit that. Right now, Prince Niu was his only chance of escape. He didn’t want to stay imprisoned here.

He knew Sui Zimo would use countless methods to torment him, forcing him to reveal his secrets.

Therefore, he had to leave.

"Fifth Brother..."

"Of course, if you want to leave, it’s not entirely impossible. I could ask Sui Zimo for leniency on your behalf," Prince Niu said, not giving him a chance to respond, his tone indifferent.

"Fifth Brother, really? You’d actually plead with Sui Zimo? Then go quickly!"

Without hesitation, Yin Lvqing spoke up eagerly.

As long as he could escape Sui Zimo’s clutches, he couldn’t bring himself to think about anything else.

He wanted to live—desperately so. And he understood clearly that, in Sui Zimo’s hands, revealing his secrets meant certain death, while refusing to talk would be a fate worse than death!

"Mm."

The faint sound of Prince Niu’s voice echoed in his ear.

"I can plead for you, but..."

"But what?"

The word "but" made Yin Lvqing’s heart drop. His face paled drastically.
