The Herbal Scents of Farm Life
Chapter 2018: Met Dad

Chapter 2018: Chapter 2018: Met Dad

On the Illusion Continent, people who came from barren lands originally had lower status. Being able to cultivate a plot of land here to fill their stomachs was already quite good. How could they be picky and choosy?

So, if I’m not mistaken, these herb fields here must have been ones that Granny Chang seized by murdering those people.

"I have another question."

Shijian raised her hand, looking at Sui Zimo and then at Lin Caisang.

"Um?"

Lin Caisang raised an eyebrow, looking at her.

"That day, in the kitchen, when Shijian went out to find you and the master, I was left alone with that wicked woman. She kept asking about the young master’s situation, asking very meticulously."

Shijian thought for a moment, then stammered and uncertainly spoke again.

"You mean Granny Chang was asking about my dad?" Lin Caisang asked.

"Um, yes."

Shijian nodded, then carefully recalled.

"I thought she wanted us to be more detailed so she could go and inquire further, but I didn’t know the answers to the questions she asked, so I didn’t say anything. I had originally thought about asking the mistress later.

But then, wasn’t it discovered that she was a man-eating monster? So, I didn’t ask anymore."

Thinking back now, Granny Chang was already very suspicious at that time. If there were already such similar portraits, why bother digging up every detail about the ancestors?

"What did she ask?" Sui Zimo asked.

"She didn’t ask when exactly my master arrived here, but she did ask me what abilities my master has, how was his spirit cultivation? Does he have any special talents? Are his relationships with the mistress and young master good? Was he lured to the Illusion Continent by another woman? That’s all."

And how would she know these things, except for the last two questions, which were undoubtedly certain, even the mistress among them didn’t know the other ones?

And Granny Chang, yet she asked these questions.

"Oh, right, she even asked what weaknesses my master has." He recalled another question.

Hearing her words, Lin Caisang and Sui Zimo exchanged a glance.

"It seems, that wicked old woman must have met Dad," spoke Lin Changhong.

From Granny Chang asking these questions, it was clear this person had met their father, and their father must be someone Granny Chang was wary of.

But in this place, where Granny Chang had already spread her infamy, how could there possibly be someone she feared?

"Sister, brother-in-law, what do you think? Could it be that our dad isn’t in this place at all?"

He felt this was quite likely; perhaps their dad wasn’t here at all, but outside, someone coming from outside who Granny Chang feared was their father.

"If not someone from here, who could it be?" Lin Caisang turned to her elder brother and asked.

This place was rich in medicinal herbs, and many of the materials for medicine refining and alchemy came from here. Could their dad be a herbs merchant?

That didn’t seem right either; if he were just a herbs merchant, that wouldn’t be enough for Granny Chang to fear him, unless he was someone who could suppress her.

"No need to think further, let’s just catch someone and ask directly later." Sui Zimo suggested.

After all, they were staying at Granny Chang’s house; to others outside, they were the villains. Catching someone to inquire wouldn’t be an issue.
