Chapter 1985: Chapter 1985: Surely It’s a Bluff

After placing the good stuff from Luo Mianyi into the assassin leader’s hands, the nanny left, and they could just wait for bad news to come out of Yue Chushui’s courtyard.

In Yue Chushui’s courtyard.

Assassins filled several rows, closely packed as they watched Yue Chushui and his group.

"Your stepmother really holds us in high esteem, Chushui," Lin Changhong said to Yue Chushui, raising an eyebrow in jest.

So many people had been sent to kill them—did they want to wipe them all out? Luo Mianyi was truly underestimated.

"Sister Sangsang, you all take a rest first. Leave these people to me," Yue Chushui said, glancing at Lin Caisang, who was smiling lightly, then turned his pale eyes toward the assassins.

And to be honest, these people did look quite formidable. If it were anyone else, they would probably be scared into running away by now.

But who was he?

In this dog-eat-dog Illusion Continent, only he preyed on others; no one should even dream of hurting him!

"That won’t do."

How could Lin Caisang possibly let Yue Chushui face the enemy alone?

"Eldest brother, Zhe Jue, both of you attack together. Finish these people off as soon as possible," she instructed, looking at Lin Changhong and Zhe Jue.

"Alright."

Lin Changhong complied, shifting his gaze to the assassins.

The assassins immediately felt a tingling sensation on their scalps under the intense stare of Lin Changhong and the rest; the leader’s left-hand man couldn’t help but take a step back.

"Eldest brother, these people are no ordinary foes. Didn’t you gather enough information before accepting this job?"

He wondered if they had taken on the wrong mission, as these people seemed very powerful. Perhaps even with their numerous members, they weren’t a match for them.

Why had the eldest brother accepted such a task?

They were assassins, involved in a business of taking money to eliminate others’ disasters, but that didn’t mean they should gamble their own lives on the job.

"Shut up!"

The leader’s heart also skipped a beat, feeling that he had taken on the wrong mission.

But how could he admit it?

When he took on this mission, he had made sure to gather all the necessary information. The Yue Clan’s Eldest Young Master was said to be one who could not cultivate spirit; even with a few cohorts around him, they wouldn’t have been enough to challenge their group.

But now...

The mere presence and demeanor of these people had already overwhelmed them.

"They... they must be bluffing, trying to trick us into leaving. Everyone, attack together, and crush them into mincemeat!"

With that, he took the lead and charged at Yue Chushui, who he recognized from the portrait before, intending to take down the Eldest Young Master of the Yue Clan first. This way, the others would hesitate to make a move.

No matter how strong they were, they wouldn’t dare to harm them.

Lin Caisang: "..."

Are these people seriously assassins?

Well, maybe she shouldn’t think like that. What she should be wondering is, are these really the assassins sent by Luo Mianyi?

They were almost indistinguishable from those local ruffians outside, and these were the people who wanted to assassinate them? Luo Mianyi really played the worst move possible.

"Subdue them, but leave a few alive," Sui Zimo ordered calmly as he looked at the assassins.

"Yes, master."

Zhe Jue and the others responded and, in a flash, moved directly toward those people.

...

Not long after.

The courtyard was filled with wailing that just wouldn’t stop.

Zhe Jue and his group didn’t go as far as to kill, but even so, the assassins were beaten so badly they rolled on the ground in agony.
