Chapter 1897: Chapter 1897: What Kind of Emperor Is That?

Hearing this, Lin Caisang raised an eyebrow, her expression completely devoid of any sign of nervousness.

"Pfft."

She shook her head, looking at the emperor as if he were a fool.

"Emperor of Wei, Emperor of Wei, no wonder even the Empress Dowager, your own mother, wants to pull you off the imperial throne. Indeed, someone like you is truly as foolish as a pig."

"You... How dare you insult me!" roared the emperor, consumed with rage.

This Commandery Princess of Liang was outrageously defiant. Had it been anyone else hearing what he’d said just moments ago, they’d likely already be kneeling and begging for his forgiveness, wouldn’t they?

But at this moment...

Suddenly, he thought of something Lin Caisang had said earlier—the Empress Dowager wanted to pull him off the throne?

Could that actually be true?

"What nonsense are you spouting? My mother would never..."

"Heh."

Lin Caisang let out a short laugh, cutting him off.

"Emperor of Wei, you can’t possibly believe that Prince Mo’s Mansion is so easily infiltrated, let alone on the night of my wedding to Sui Zimo. Do you think just anyone with arms and legs can barge in?"

"What... What do you mean?"

Only now did the emperor finally begin to understand.

Earlier outside, he had wondered why it seemed so odd. Prince Mo’s Mansion was usually guarded like a fortress, and of the many men he’d sent, not one had come back alive.

And today was Sui Zimo’s wedding day—security should have been even tighter.

Yet, at this very moment, he was led by Eunuch Gui directly into the bridal chamber of Sui Zimo and the Commandery Princess of Liang!

He finally understood the oddities of the situation.

"Gui... It was Gui, he is actually... Ah!"

Before the words "your people" could leave his mouth, he was swept to the ground by a blast of palm wind from Lin Caisang.

The next moment, her foot came down hard on his chest, causing him such pain that he ground his teeth and wailed non-stop, reaching out to try and push Lin Caisang’s foot away.

But the pain from his chest intensified even more, causing his limbs to go weak. As his raised arm fell back to his side, he attempted to lift it again but found himself unable to move.

"I am... I am the Emperor, the Emperor of Wei State, how dare you treat me this way... I... I won’t let you off!" he threatened weakly.

"Tsk."

Lin Caisang snorted.

"The Emperor? Who knows who Wei State will belong to tomorrow. You? What kind of Emperor do you count as?"

"What do you mean?"

The emperor, already soaked in a cold sweat from the pain, narrowed his eyes and asked.

"Don’t you know that your attempt to take advantage of this Commandery Princess at Prince Mo’s Mansion has been exposed? The Empress Dowager thinks her son is unfit for the throne and has issued a benevolent edict for Sui Zilin, the very son you despise, to succeed you as the Emperor of Wei?"

"That’s impossible!"

Upon hearing this, the emperor was utterly stunned, to the point where he couldn’t even feel the pain in his chest any longer.

How could his mother do this? He was the Emperor of Wei, the sovereign ruler. What did Sui Zilin amount to, for him to step over the emperor’s head?

"Why is it impossible?"

Lin Caisang laughed softly, a question in return.

"Of course, all of this will come after tonight. Emperor, you’re aware, aren’t you, that whomever touches me, the Commandery Princess, comes to no good end? Hmm?"

"I..."

What did he know? Only now had he realized that this so-called Commandery Princess of Liang was far from as simple as the rumors suggested.
