Chapter 1884: Chapter 1884: Sky City
"People like you, shouldn’t you keep a secret or two as leverage to negotiate a way out with my lord? If you spill everything, don’t you just leave yourself with no choice but death?"
Old Five: "..."
He no longer wished to live; he only wanted to die. Could they fulfill this wish for him?
"Since you don’t want to talk, then allow me to ask."
The guard, truly at a loss for words when facing Old Five, said.
"You... you ask."
Old Five said feebly.
After all, having already said so much, saying a bit more couldn’t make much difference, could it? The most crucial details had already been disclosed.
"For the past thirty years, in the Ziyan Kingdom or perhaps the entire Illusion Continent, what significant events have occurred? My lord wishes to hear of the most substantial matters," the guard queried, addressing him.
Significant events?
Old Five struggled to lift his head, looked at the guard bewilderedly, and then shifted his gaze to the previous cloak-wearer.
"Why are you looking at me? It’s none of my business."
The previous cloak-wearer was startled as Old Five looked his way.
Why was he being stared at like that? He was innocent. Whatever Old Five knew, he knew as well—and even more clearly. What was the use in looking at him then?
After a long while, Old Five finally understood and continued to fix his gaze on the guard.
"If I tell you, will you let me go?"
He staked his condition, and suddenly, he mustered the courage to live; he didn’t want to die just yet.
Even having betrayed his master, he still didn’t wish to die so young. At the very least, he could find a hidden place where no one could find him and live out his peaceful days.
"Let you go? That depends on whether what you say is valuable enough for my lord to consider sparing you. You may begin," replied the guard who wasn’t about to negotiate any terms with Old Five, yet spoke to him in a roundabout manner.
Did this man, intent on taking his lord’s life, really expect to be released?
Wishful thinking, surely?
But at that moment, Old Five had no inclination to ponder the guard’s words. He only knew if he could disclose what they wanted to know, he could stay alive.
"Twenty-two years ago, the only child of Sky City’s lord vanished shortly after his birth. Is that significant enough?" he declared.
"Old Five!"
The previous cloak-wearer, upon hearing his words, shouted angrily.
Sky City, within the Illusion Continent, was a superior realm, respected by all seven kingdoms. The only child of the Sky City’s lord was the heir to Sky City. To carelessly bring up such a matter was unheard of among the seven nations.
And Old Five had just blurted it out?!
Indeed, he had always suspected — the child his master took in back then, now known as Sui Zimo, whom he was not allowed to kill. Could it really be the son of Sky City’s lord?
Furthermore, over these years, despite having only this one son, the lord of Sky City had no other children.
If this son were found, he would directly become the young master of Sky City!
"You must be insane to dare say anything," he hissed through clenched teeth at Old Five.
"Sky City?"
The guard was unaware of what Sky City was, but he understood it must be a formidable place within the Illusion Continent.
"You go report to our lord; I’ll stay here and continue the questioning," he instructed, turning to his comrade beside him.
"Understood."
The comrade responded and then promptly exited the iron cell.
