Chapter 1862: Chapter 1862 Have you seen anyone?
Moreover, his two sons, who were so close to being born, had inexplicably vanished.
"Was it you?"
"Your Majesty..."
Eunuch Gui stood to one side, looking at him weakly.
"Your Majesty, I am absolutely loyal to you, and would never betray you."
The next moment, he kowtowed to the Emperor with a ’thump’, his entire face filled with innocence and fear.
The Emperor cast a cold glance at him, naturally, he didn’t believe Eunuch Gui would be the one to divulge the matter; he didn’t have the courage!
Furthermore, Eunuch Gui was personally raised by him. If it weren’t for his great mercy, he would still be a trivial eunuch, able to be killed at will by anyone—how could he possibly betray him?
But if not Eunuch Gui, then who?
In this vast palace, the number of people who knew he had a woman by his side was extremely few!
"I have not accused you, so why the panic?"
He said irritably.
"You may leave. I need to think this through properly!" What exactly is going on here.
"Yes, I shall take my leave."
Eunuch Gui let out a sigh of relief before he narrowly made his exit.
Who knows who it was that did that to the woman by the Emperor’s side, that woman that even his own master had not mentioned dealing with.
Fortunately, the Emperor didn’t pay any mind to a mere eunuch like him, which saved him from revealing himself.
Inside the Imperial Study, the Emperor still had a somber expression, unable to fathom who would be so cruel as to not spare even a pregnant woman, causing him to lose his two sons.
"Come out!"
He spoke to the air.
Soon after, a woman emerged from the corner, her eyes brimming with tears as she looked up at the lofty Emperor.
"Your Majesty, you must seek justice for Wan’er."
She approached the Emperor, and softly knelt before him.
Hearing her words, the Emperor also furrowed his brows, taking a deep breath.
How much he wished to avenge this grievance, but who was it that leaked Wan’er’s affairs? He still didn’t understand even after having it investigated, which turned up no hints at all.
"Have you met anyone lately?" he asked coldly.
At his words, Wan’er was startled, lifted her head to look at the Emperor, then lowered it again, thinking carefully.
"No."
She shook her head. Whenever she was in the Imperial Study and someone else came in, even if it was Eunuch Gui, she would always hide first.
Having been this careful, how could she possibly have met anyone else?
But suddenly, as if she had thought of something, she furrowed her brows and looked up at the Emperor.
"Unless..."
"Unless what?"
The Emperor immediately inquired when he heard this.
"That day the Empress came to the Imperial Study. Although she did not enter, it seems she saw your servant outside the Imperial Study..."
"The Empress, it was the Empress! Are you sure?"
The Emperor ground his teeth; was this deed done by the Empress? What was she trying to achieve, revenge for his actions against her son?
So she wanted him to lose several children in succession and hence acted against Wan’er?
"No, it wasn’t like that."
Wan’er shook her head again, her expression somewhat bewildered.
"Whether the Empress actually saw your servant that day, your servant cannot be certain. Only, your servant saw that the Empress’s gaze was indifferent. She probably... didn’t notice your servant, right?"
