Chapter 1830: Chapter 1830: The Final Ending

"Father, since you have no further need of me here, I shall take my leave now. I must return to the mansion promptly and send someone to the Elder Princess’s Mansion of the Liang Kingdom. I bid you farewell."

Just as when he arrived, he left without offering any salute, and went straight away.

"He... he..."

Watching Sui Zimo leave without a second glance, the emperor’s chest heaved with such fury he nearly couldn’t catch his breath.

This wretched son was truly despicable.

"Your Majesty, please calm yourself. There’s no need to stoop to Prince Mo’s level," the empress said with a smile, trying to soothe him.

"That miscreant!"

The emperor cursed under his breath.

Empress: "..."

Inside, she thought to herself, even if he is a scourge, he’s not yours, is he? What are you so anxious about?

But after all, wasn’t it the emperor who brought Sui Zimo into the picture?

If it weren’t for the emperor beckoning Sui Zimo, she wouldn’t have constantly opposed him and brought her own son to such a pass.

Ultimately, the reason Lin’er ended in his current plight was truly because of the emperor himself, having nothing to do with Sui Zimo.

Everyone knows that in the face of danger, self-defense is a natural response. There’s no reason Sui Zimo shouldn’t have fought back!

If the emperor had told her early on that Sui Zimo was not of the royal bloodline, would she have then dragged Lin’er to spurn Sui Zimo?

And the trip to White Blind Mountain, why on earth would Lin’er have gone there willingly? If someone hadn’t deliberately informed him, how would he know about the treasures on White Blind Mountain?

She now suspected that this matter might also be related to the emperor.

If indeed it was, she thought, perhaps it would be best not to cure the poison within the emperor.

It would spare others from his harm if he didn’t recover!

...

Inside Prince Mo’s Mansion.

Sui Zimo had just returned but did not go to see Lin Caisang. Instead, he went to the back courtyard and entered into the secrecy within to check on the cloaked person who had been tortured incessantly and had yet to speak.

With a ’bang,’ the iron door was opened. The cloaked person, covered in injuries, jolted awake from unconsciousness upon seeing Sui Zimo already standing before him.

"Expect me to betray my master, you wish!" he yelled with all his might at Sui Zimo.

He would never betray his master, never!

"Did I ever say I wanted you to confess?" Sui Zimo scoffed at him, looking on coldly.

"I came here only to share some tremendously good news with you."

"What news?"

Although his instincts told him not to believe a word from Sui Zimo, he couldn’t help but ask.

What had transpired outside?

"Previously, it was you who stole the Ice Silkworm Garment from my possession, wasn’t it?" Sui Zimo asked him.

On hearing this, the cloaked man’s eyes flickered without a response.

So what if he had taken it? If Sui Zimo was capable, he should retrieve it himself!

"Alas, it is my fault," Sui Zimo sighed deeply, looking at the cloaked man with a slight schadenfreude.

"That Ice Silkworm Garment of mine, you see, it’s meant to counteract the poison within me, which makes it a poisoned garment of sorts. Now, tell me, if such a poisoned garment were to be worn by someone else, what do you reckon their end would be like?"

"What do you mean?"

The cloaked man faltered when he heard Sui Zimo’s words.

It took him a moment to compose himself before he urgently questioned Sui Zimo.
