Chapter 1700: Chapter 1700: Spend the Rest of Your Life in Peace
Indeed, in the blink of an eye, so many years had passed, and she had gone from a young girl to now, a grandmother to the children.
"Starting from today, you need not follow me anymore,"
she said to Rong Xin after taking a deep breath.
"Does the master mean..."
Rong Xin naturally did not doubt that Old Madam Yue would give up on her over such a trivial matter.
The only possibility was...
"Master, the Eldest Young Master has driven all the servants away. I fear... I may not be able to gain the Eldest Young Master’s trust,"
She understood what her master meant, that the Eldest Young Master was surrounded by crises and that someone must always protect the Eldest Young Master, otherwise, how could the master be at ease?
"How I brought you back to the mansion in the beginning, do the same now," Old Madam Yue reminded her.
"Chushui is still young, and I’ve heard from the guards who went to the wastelands that in Chushui’s former home, there was an old lady who was extremely kind to him."
"Yes, I understand," Rong Xin immediately responded.
"But, master, do you wish me to protect the Eldest Young Master, or..."
There was something she had to clarify; though she was a servant girl, she could not be someone so vague and ambiguous, could she?
"Now that you have left me, I am no longer your master. You must obey from now on," said Old Madam Yue.
As to whose orders they should obey was something both of them understood without needing to be said aloud.
"Yes, I understand,"
Rong Xin nodded, kneeled down before Old Madam Yue, gave three deep bows, and then left without a sound.
Old Madam Yue watched Rong Xin’s departing figure and pursed her lips.
Only by letting Rong Xin protect that child could she rest assured. In the Yue Clan, Rong Xin was like her shadow, never appearing before others.
Even her foolish son was unaware of Rong Xin’s existence.
"Child, I hope you can live the rest of your life in peace in this home."
...
In the courtyard of Yue Chushui.
After eating the dinner he had prepared for himself and preparing to return to his room to study the secret tome of spirit cultivation, he heard a series of footsteps outside the courtyard.
He paused in his steps, glanced at the courtyard door, and then continued back to his room.
Meanwhile, outside, Yue Tianhao and two other children slightly older than him were surrounded by servants, ready to knock on Yue Chushui’s courtyard door.
Yue Tianhao raised his hand first and pounded on the courtyard door, ’plop!’
Instead of the expected ’bang bang’ sound, all they heard was a ’plop’, and Yue Tianhao’s hand seemed to have been submerged into water, disappearing right into the courtyard door.
Followed by that, Yue Chushui, who was in his room, heard a pig-slaughter-like howl from outside.
"Hurry, come and help, Eldest Brother, Second Brother, my hand, my hand won’t come out," Yue Tianhao tugged hard at his own hand but couldn’t pull it out from above the courtyard door at all.
Yue Tianyu and Yue Tianze, seeing this, quickly came forward to check.
But who knows what happened, perhaps it was due to the panicked servants behind them bumping into them, but Yue Tianyu ended up bumping half of Yue Tianhao’s body into the soft, cottony door as well.
"Ah! Ah!"
The continuous screams of Yue Tianhao echoed on.
"Eldest Brother, what are you doing, stop squeezing against Third Brother!"
Seeing this, Yue Tianze pushed Yue Tianyu away and then grabbed Yue Tianhao’s hand to yank it outwards.
But no matter how much he pulled, he could not extract Yue Tianhao’s hand.
