Chapter 1690: Chapter 1690: News of Sui Zimo’s ’Disappearance
"Really?"
Lin Changfeng’s eyes lit up upon hearing this.
"I’ll go have a look."
As he spoke, he was about to head to his parents’ room, but Lu Qiubo grabbed his arm.
"What are you doing? You’re so tired from the journey, go rest first. Grandpa will make you something to eat later."
She turned her head to look at the Elder Princess.
"Yuyang, you should rest too. Changhong has gone up to the mountains, and who knows when he’ll be back. Sangsang hasn’t been seen for over ten days now; she’s probably gone to look for Molian,"
she said.
"Sangsang? She came back already?" Liu Yuyang’s eyes flashed as he asked.
He had thought the letter he received in Jianan City was from Shaohua City, yet it turned out to be from Yejun.
But Shaohua City is so far from Yejun, has Sangsang been on the move all these months?
"Yes, she was home just the other day. She’s been treating Grandpa’s leg, probably went up the mountain to gather herbs," Lu Qiubo nodded in confirmation.
"Then I’ll go take a look on the mountain."
Without a second thought, Lin Changfeng said.
"What do you think you’re looking at? Go to your room. Sangsang has Molian with her," Lu Qiubo glared at her grandson.
Lin Changfeng bowed his head, touched his nose, and thought to himself, He was just worried about Sangsang. Alone in the mountains, who knows how she was faring?
...
Inside the imperial palace of Shaohua City.
Since Princess Consort Lian had been sent to the cold palace, there had been no news, and the Emperor had still been investigating the items that Nanny Chen had stolen and sold. Where they had ended up was yet to be discovered.
But not long after Nanny Chen had hung herself, the shop where she frequently sold goods closed down, and the owner had vanished without a trace.
When the guards arrived, they found the shop already empty.
The Emperor was so furious he was nearly sick, but he still ordered the investigation to continue, though it seemed futile.
"These filthy beings in the palace all deserve death!"
Unable to locate the missing items, all he could do was curse in the imperial study.
"Your Majesty, Prince Yi requests an audience outside the imperial study," Eunuch Gui reported as he entered.
"Prince Yi?"
A shade of darkness, mixed with contempt, flickered through the Emperor’s eyes before he snorted coldly.
"What does he want? Let him in," he said.
He wanted to see just what Prince Yi intended, wondering why Prince Yi dared to come to him when he had avoided trouble with Prince Yi’s Mansion!
"As you command."
Eunuch Gui obeyed the order, immediately going outside to summon Prince Yi.
Before long, Prince Yi entered, paid his respects to the Emperor, then stood respectfully below.
"Prince Yi, what brings you to the palace today?" the Emperor asked, seeing that he remained silent.
"Your Majesty, I have learned that Prince Mo has not been in his mansion recently, perhaps he has traveled far," Prince Yi stated plainly.
"So what if he has?"
The Emperor countered his question, not feeling that the ’disappearance’ of Sui Zimo was good news to him.
After all, he needed a vibrant, living Sui Zimo by his side, not one whose whereabouts were unknown and unseen!
Moreover, now with Sui Zimo away, the female doctor was also missing, and he had no leads on how to proceed against them!
"Wu’er is still in Prince Mo’s Mansion, I was hoping... to see if Your Majesty could rescue her," Prince Yi said straightforwardly to the Emperor.
