Chapter 1666: Chapter 1666: Don’t Remember Anymore

Sui Zimo wasn’t her biological son, and other than the time the Emperor had given Sui Zimo to her care, she had almost never held him in her arms. Where would she even take note of whether he had a jade pendant or not?

"This matter should be questioned with the old nanny in the concubine’s palace. She knows best, all of Sui Zimo’s belongings were entrusted to her for safekeeping," she said unabashedly to the Emperor.

She spoke frankly in front of the Emperor.

The Emperor was well aware of her previous attitude towards Sui Zimo, naturally knowing she wouldn’t concern herself with what Sui Zimo was wearing.

"Gui, take the old nanny from Princess Consort Lian’s palace here," the Emperor immediately ordered Eunuch Gui.

"Yes, Your Majesty."

Eunuch Gui gave Princess Consort Lian a glance and left the imperial study, sneaking away like a cat.

"Princess Consort Lian, can you recount if, besides that jade pendant, there was anything else left on Sui Zimo’s person?" the Emperor continued to ask Princess Consort Lian after Eunuch Gui had left.

During this time, it never even crossed his mind that Princess Consort Lian was still kneeling on the ground, nor did he consider having her stand to reply.

Princess Consort Lian’s complexion grew paler and the pain in her knees became more intense.

Since her entrance to the palace, she had never suffered such pain; although one must kneel before the Emperor, it was never supposed to be for this long.

Could it be that she was not allowed to stand until her nanny arrived at the imperial study?

"Your Majesty, I do not remember. Once the nanny arrives, she will surely know," she answered coldly, her tone somewhat unfriendly.

Meanwhile, the Empress feigned ignorance, silently relishing the venting of her pent-up frustrations.

Having Princess Consort Lian kneeling in such a manner, watching her face grow increasingly rigid with discomfort, was such a pleasure. If only they weren’t in front of the Emperor, she would have allowed herself to indulge in some petty actions.

She certainly would have placed a few silver needles, points up, right where Princess Consort Lian was kneeling!

It was only now that she truly understood all her past scheming, why her Lin’er had ended up in such a tragic state—all because of Princess Consort Lian and Sui Zijin!

This mother and son, she would never let them have peace!

"Worthless!"

The Emperor looked at her coldly, spitting out the two words.

He should have never given Sui Zimo to a brainless and worthless person like Princess Consort Lian to raise.

Now, Sui Zimo had grown into a reckless character, daring to defy even the words of his Imperial Father, and in Princess Consort Lian’s care, there was simply no controlling him!

It was only now that he realized how useless Princess Consort Lian truly was!

It was a waste that he had favored and trusted her so much all these years—a complete waste!

Princess Consort Lian clenched her teeth, daring not utter a word.

She knew that to the Emperor, Sui Zimo mattered far more than she did, a concubine.

But what did that matter? Sui Zimo was merely a tool for the Emperor’s use; she believed there was absolutely no need to care about such a person.

Thus, these years, her concern for Sui Zimo, other than being superficially obliging, was non-existent.

How could she have anticipated that the Emperor would actually expect her to recall what Sui Zimo was wearing back then?

Not that she remembered, but she did know that the items Sui Zimo wore at the time, which she had taken such good care of, were of great quality and there were many of them. The jade pendant goes without saying, even the child’s clothing was woven from gold thread.

However, she was more aware that those things should not be objects of her desire.

So, she simply handed them over to a nanny nearby for proper keeping.
