Chapter 1539: Chapter 1539: The Only One Who Escaped

Lin Caisang spoke to them.

"Tsk."

The old chieftain sneered, his icy gaze fixed on Lin Caisang.

"How could the mere Human Clan ever be a match for our Demon Clan?"

"Then what’s the explanation for this?"

Lin Caisang asked, if they didn’t take the humans seriously, then how come they were captured repeatedly and even killed for their flesh? It was simply impossible.

That’s why she and Sui Zimo had suspected that there was something strange about the altar.

However, when they went there, they found nothing.

"Six, why don’t you explain."

The old chieftain’s gaze had remained on Lin Caisang and Sui Zimo, but then he summoned the badly bruised Six.

"Chieftain, why bother talking to them? Why not just start fighting?" Six’s face was unreadable as to whether his complexion was good or bad, but his words were quite aggressive.

"Shut your mouth!"

The old chieftain gave him a sideways glance and smacked Six on the forehead with his hand.

"Speak when I tell you to!"

Looking up, he turned to Lin Caisang and Sui Zimo.

"Six is the only one who escaped after being captured by the people in this county, and this boy was lucky to not end up on that altar. If you have any questions, ask him."

"Alright."

Lin Caisang nodded and then looked at Six.

But Six wasn’t about to cooperate with them and was arrogantly tilting his chin up, completely dismissive.

"Elder..."

"Six!"

The old chieftain’s threatening gaze made Six’s scalp tingle.

"Alright, alright, stop glowering at me, Chieftain," Six hurriedly said.

Turning his head, he faced Lin Caisang and Sui Zimo.

"If you have anything you want to ask, do it now. I won’t say anything next time."

He said.

"Were you tied to the altar?" Sui Zimo asked.

"Of course," Six replied, looking at Sui Zimo as if he were a joke.

Which one of them from the Demon Clan, after being captured, didn’t wake up from unconsciousness the first time on that very altar?

"Don’t ask stupid questions; ask the important ones."

"You fought Red Silver before, and your skills were quite good. Why then, when you were tied to the altar, were you unable to even break the ropes? Did you actually not want to escape?" Lin Caisang asked.

Demon Clan’s Six: "!!!"

What kind of question was that? The altar was a place where people died; how could he not want to escape?

But there was truth in what Lin Caisang said; while he was bound to the altar, despite being restrained by ordinary ropes, why couldn’t he escape?

Latterly, if it hadn’t been for him faking his death, tricking everyone into thinking he had bled dry, leading them to drag him into a cave, he wouldn’t have been able to escape.

So...

"Are you implying that there’s something strange about the altar?" he murmured, asking them.

"Isn’t there?" Lin Caisang countered. Wasn’t it obvious?

There were even some scattered ropes left beneath the altar. Sui Zimo had tried it before; with just a little force, he could break them.

Yet with such simple ropes, why couldn’t the Demon Clan members escape?

"This..."

The Demon Clan’s Six gritted his teeth.

Indeed, wasn’t there something strange? This was a statement he had the most right to make, as someone who had escaped alive from the altar.

The strangeness was substantial!

"Tell us, what was it like to be tied up on the altar?" she asked.
