Chapter 1514: Chapter 1514: Are You Going to Make a Move on Us?
"This... this is just too cruel."
She clenched her teeth, watching as those people ate voraciously, grabbing the food with their hands and gobbling it down.
"Brother Molian, should we go... stop them?"
She looked at Sui Zimo and asked.
"We can’t stop them," Sui Zimo shook his head.
They were only two people, but there were many in that courtyard. How could they possibly stop them?
Moreover, these people were mindless. Even if they were to pull them back, what good would that do? As soon as they let go, these people would just throw themselves at the food again.
"While everyone is busy eating, let’s check out a few more spots," he suggested to Lin Caisang.
Given that, even though this county town wasn’t large, it couldn’t possibly have only so few people.
There must certainly be several places like this courtyard, otherwise these mindless people would have already burst the place at the seams.
"Okay."
Lin Caisang immediately responded.
The two of them turned around and left. After a short while, they indeed found four more courtyards similar to the first within the town.
The scenes inside were exactly the same as the first courtyard: all the mindless people were eating with great relish, as if they wanted to devour not just the food on the plates but the tables themselves.
But after looking around, they only saw mindless people feasting, not a single sentient living person or member of the Demon Clan.
"Those responsible for bringing the food here couldn’t possibly have left without a trace, could they?"
That didn’t make sense.
"They must have hidden themselves when we arrived," Sui Zimo said.
Lin Caisang: "..."
What use was it to hide? They had already arrived; could it be they intended to have her and Sui Zimo keep up with them in an enduring stakeout?
"No, that’s not it."
Suddenly, her expression changed.
"Brother Molian, are those people hiding themselves to strike at us?"
She looked at Sui Zimo and asked.
It must be the only possibility, considering what the woman had said -- that since she escaped from the county town, a few more groups had entered.
But later, the people in the vicinity discovered the strangeness of the place.
Then, they started taking turns guarding outside the town, and since then, no one else had come in. She and Brother Molian were the last two to enter after that.
"Perhaps,"
Sui Zimo responded softly, scanning the surroundings with his half-closed, dark eyes.
"Sang’er, let’s find a place to stay first. I have a feeling that the issues here won’t be solved in a day or two."
"Mhm."
Lin Caisang nodded too.
She and Sui Zimo had completed many missions before and knew that members of the Demon Clan were the most difficult to deal with.
And this place was indeed very strange.
...
"Let’s stay here."
In an exceedingly ordinary courtyard, Sui Zimo tidied up a room covered in dust.
"We’ll stay in one room," he said.
"Mhm."
Lin Caisang naturally had no objections.
If they weren’t staying together, she feared she wouldn’t be able to sleep at night, out of fright.
"Brother Molian, although I can sense the presence of the Demon Clan, I really can’t pinpoint where they are. What should we do?"
"Because in this county town, the aura of the Demon Clan is everywhere."
Sui Zimo told her this and took out some cakes from his bag, offering them to Lin Caisang.
"Have a bite first."
Lin Caisang nodded, raised her hand, and reached for the cakes in Sui Zimo’s
